VERY upset, lost over 18k on my Rend Staff?
The Rend staff now appears to be going for 1800 when it used to be 20k? That isn't right. I think pirates who had the Rend staff before the update need to be rebated a significant portion of that. A lot of time goes into making 20k.
It was bad enough when they lowered the high level weapons from 15 to 10, but this is a slap in the face of those who worked their arses off for the high level weapons. |
I'm sure its a bug. It will be goin back up once they realized it. Until then I'm gonna upgrade :)
|
I can only speak for the Dagger quest, but I got the Coltello for free at the end of the quest (It is a pirate's best friend in the right fight. +6 damager per hit. So, the best equipment might all be rewards at the end of quests now, which would make it difficult to charge the prices they had for some of that equipment (for example, the Main Gauche is only 1250 now and it was 10,000).
|
I didn't mind the prices at the time, because I had a lot of moolah...
But I just bought a war frigate, and now I'm poor. So, yeah, I want my money back so I can get the other pouches. :tongue8: |
WOw, now that urks me. I saved and saved for that one. I mean 10K for a tiny blade with a piece of wood on it?!? Sheesh.
|
All that gold spent on now somewhat meager weaponry.
Wheres our potco relief treasure chests? Have they shipped yet? ;) AaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrG!!! Zeppers Lvl40 http://pirates.teamofx.us |
That's why I say rebate, so many hours went into earning money for weapons that have been cost reduced by 90%. I mean even apple sent out rebate checks after they cut the price on the iPhone, and that was real money.
Well, I spent *real* time making a *real lot* of fake money, and I want some recompense. I just don't think it's right. |

Sorry but I disagree. I spend a lot of gold on the same said weapons but the time I have been able to use them to help me pays for the loss gold. I would not be as far if I did not have those weapons bonuses when I needed them.
Lots of more gold to make with my Treasure Sense 5. :) |
i agree to anyone who bought the main gauche rend staff tri-barrel pistol, or any other upgraded weapon just lost thousands :(
|
I've had the tri-barrel pistol for so long it has more than paid for itself at this point. The main gauche- not so much.
Instead of a rebate, how about the ability to sell off the lesser weapons? |

Sell them off for what? 1/2 current market value or 1/2 previous market value (equating the 1/2 price selling ships and clothing)? If it is current value, no thanks. If it is former value, I see a possible Stock Market exploit: Buy low, sell high. It's just frusterating, that's all. I mean, it is a lot of looting that could have been distributed to guild mates, friends, or clothing for me (I like to shop, go ahead and poke fun) and now I could have bought all the weapons with an hour's worth of gold farming on KH? Hardly seems fair.

"Sorry but I disagree. I spend a lot of gold on the same said weapons but the time I have been able to use them to help me pays for the loss gold. I would not be as far if I did not have those weapons bonuses when I needed them."
I think that this type of argument is missing the point. The point is that this is inequitable, in that it gives newer players an extreme advantage over those who came before them. They will have these weapons much sooner than you or I did, save a lot of gold getting them, and make gold quicker. In the end they will have the same status, capped amount of gold, and weapons. BUT they will have gotten to that point having done a LOT less work to get there. Frankly, it cheapens the hours previous players have put into the game. |
In fact it wouldn't be so hard to rebate us. Just look for people who have a main gauge. Rebate them 2K lol. But then again those who just bought the Main Gauge when it dropped might accidentally receive a rebate too. :(

I think the created perception for the old top tier weapons was that they were not being purchased to use, but were serving primarily as coin sinks well after the bulk of training/leveling was completed (and possibly near the end of the overall use trajectory for that particular type of equipment).
I'm just guessing, but it might seem to them that it's the perfect time to simply change the pricing structure outright. I think they're happy to have the temporary excitement of new weapon quests and new top tier weapons, but they still have to contend with the underlying need to make the top tier weapons more desirable for use while building the skill rather than as a coin sink which is invested in primarily due to the coin cap. So, I don't think they were particularly worried about the loss of item value because they assume that most of the purchasers of those items purchased the items because they needed to create room for more gold under the coin cap rules. |
I agree it stink for those of us who bought those weapons. However, I feel they are actually priced right now for what they do. Also with the new weapons no one in their right mind would've bought them at the old price.

I must say my comment about rebate treasure chests was more of a pun on current tax relief checks (in the mail).
Would be nice, but 30 mins at padres blackjack, and im 20k up. I have card cheatin sense... i guess. No skill points were required. ;) http://pirates.teamofx.us/zeppers.jpg |

It is too bad we lost out on money for these (my second pirate though didn't I never did upgrade any of his except for the pistol for using tri-hex on Molusks and Gyps). But - how they would arrange a refund would be another thing that could bug out... so I'll just take what is there for now :) |
Heh.... This is all too common in online games when new weapons debut.
As the game progresses, how will they deal with more new weapons? Allow a sellback option? Discontinue older weapons and make them rare items? Increase the number of weapon slots? Make us buy more weapon slots? The fact that weapon prices change is one all online games deal with and there are no easy answers. I for one think that as new weapons get introduced, older weps should go rare and their sellback value go up over time. |
Well, maybe they shouldnt have made them so darn rich in the first place. I mean 20K for a staff, a piece of stump leg that shoots is as much as a whole ship?!? Or a dagger for 10k? A silk doll? The prices are a bit outrageous to begin with, now they lower the price to a reasonable one and boom, those of us spending 50K on weapons couldve done it for 5k?!?
|
Disney just doesn't know what they are doing, methinks. They are literally making it up as they go along, very little forethought for items like this.
I am sure they planned the new weapons and said "oh, if we let lvl 15 players quest for fine weapons nobody will buy the expensive weapons... We therefore must make the expensive weapons cheap weapons." An afterthought, poorly executed. In reality, I don't see why the bar should be set so low for these weapon quests. There isn't much to do after lvl 30 anyway. So why not save them for a higher level? Or until that weapon is mastered. Etc. Bottom line, this situation seems to have been given very little thought. |
Another thing. They are introducing more notoriety quests to the game yet the cap still remains at 40. Why not raise it? It hinders those that have fully mastered when they do raise it in the future. Others that havent fully repd to the max will be able to gain reps where we who have mastered, lost about 20K+ reps, cause we couldnt take anymore.
|
I had to sell my war galleon to pay for the cannonball barrel. It doesn't bother me as my 2 war frigates make up for it. I am actually not too bothered about the gold it cost me as I have already made 10k back doing the new weapons quests and sinking ships.
Prices for stuff are gonna go up and down. I will take it in my stride, but I do agree with the fact that noobs do not have to go through what we went through to earn the gold to buy the weapons. Have the rep levels gone down for the old top tier weapons? That I definitely disagree with. They should have put a higher rep requirement for the new wepaons |
I think what they should have done is required for every weapon, that you have the one right below it in order to be able to buy it or recieve task. So everyone would HAVE to go given weapon, bought weapon, expensive bought weapon, then the tasks are given to you for the new weapon. That way prices could have stayed the same, at first just costing you gold, then requiring that you quest. It seems like a natural progression and it wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. Still giving the questers of new weapons the advantage, because they have already bought the expensive weapons, and had the new tasks available.
Another thing they need is the ability to create a "Fleet." Which obviously would be, a group of ships. so you have the Commodore, then Captains. There would have to be another chat tab for fleet talk though. (Although I think chat tabs should be gone, and you do /c <chat> for crew chat, and /g <chat> for guild, then could just have /f for fleet). But anyways, with these fleets, let by the Commodore, events like the Kraken could be made to be multi ship events. Maybe have that be the last step in the next Chapter (although I don't know how that would incorporate the movie story line, but they can deviate some, or they'll be out of new content in a hurry). What do you think? Fleet events sound good? More coordination? Defeat said events in order to unlock . . . new ships? Maybe earn 1 skill point for each weapon type, increasing your cap and improving your effectiveness? |
It doesn't bother me, to be honest.
Sure, it would have been nice to have the lower price when I bought mine, but it's just not worth stressing over. Have fun, play the game. |

The saddest part is, thats not the only way they screwed the Lvl 40's either. They just put a giant middle finger in front of every person's face who stuck around with this game, even after it got boring to death.
Why would Disney do this? Are they SERIOIUS? My only salvation was PvP, but even now, level 30's with 2k health -.- |
OK On topic of that, how about us lvl 40s who no longer get reps. The new quests and the mastering of all weapons....are we gonna get those lost reps when they open the cap higher?

If they introduce a new skill like Leadership, and people max a skill like Sailing before they could get information to utilize it, then something like that is unfair. But a price update, though unfair as well, isn't too unreasonable. Honestly, the weapons only do a slight increase in attack damage.
Don't believe I'm not pieved, however. I've been saving for a War Sloop, but bought the Tri-Barrel when it got the requirement level lowered to 10. However, the price is now something like 2000! Any change that could effect previously made decisions that were tactically made are unfair and undesirable, in addition to ungood. |
Yeah for those of us who had top-of-the-line weapons before the update have now wasted hard-earned gold just to get better weapons for free. A refund would be nice, I might suggest it to Disney. Although they probably wouldn't listen.
