How Long Did You Have Basic Access?
 

Just out of curiosity, how long were you Basic before you switched to Unlimited?

I'm pretty sure it took me less than a week to do all the basic quests and such, and that's when I upgraded. :)

It was actually the first day I tried it. I was looking up some info on allakhazam's for Everquest . . and there was a banner on the side for free POTCO download and play. I clicked, made a pirate, later on I reached a weapon cap, so I decided to pay. The rest has been history.

2-3 hours here. I just loved sailing and the fact that the game ran decent on my laptop.

I saw the TV commercial where it said PLAY FOR FREE.

It took me awhile to get my wife to let me upgrade. We used to be pretty heavy EQ players, and wound up spending three years in that game, and she was not wanting a repeat of that. But she started playing herself, and that was all it took.

A friend recommended POTCO on a Friday evening. By Saturday afternoon I had two 1 year subscription accounts (one for me, one for my kids).

I got bored of runescape one night and started to watch TV waiting for Deathnote to come on when I saw the commercial. I maxxed everything out for Basic by 00:00. Then I got Unlimited a week and a day or two later.

I found a giftcard sitting on my desk about 45 minutes after the game prompted me to 'upgrade', and well... Thanks whoever it was that sent me that gift card.

I am also currious how everyone first started playing. It took me a few hours to get to Tia for the Doll quest, only to find out I could not get it. That is when I upgraded. TV lured me in too. Had I known ahead of time that the blasted game was coming out, I would have gotten into beta. Keep up the response. :)

Loot Hard!

I finally got around to watchin the 3rd on DVD, checked the extras at the end and saw a game about hte movie. As much as I love the movie, I had to jump in on it. Clicked to basic, played a day until I maxed everything and was hooked. Been paying ever since!

I finished the quests available to you, and got to level 10, and then decided to pay, since VMK was closing. This process took 2 weeks.

I had it for about an hour... I'm one of those people that needs to spend money because they hate being normal *roll eyes*

I think I got it the first day I started playing, which was....oh...yesterday. I went to Tia Dalma for the voodoo training quest (for some strange reason I thought it was part of the Black Pearl Quest,) and it said I had to upgrade to do it. I was so frustrated with it I just said, What the heck?, and upgraded. And yes, I am a very impatient person.

The reason I started playing was because of one of my friends. I hadn't talked to him in forever, because he kinda disappeared. So when I saw that he played POTCO, I joined in hopes we could be friends again. Not mentioning any names *cough*DCS*cough*

I downloaded it through an AIM advertisement and on the next day, when I reached Tia for my doll, I started paying. What can I say, I like dolls. :)

I think I had basic access for about 3 days and then I thought it was a nice game so I paid for it. XD

When it told me I had to update to keep playing. :P

same as me, except i started in beta times, it took me a month, but im still kinda ****ed that vmk is closing, but this is better!

Larkija, do you still have Basic Access? Or did you get unlimited on November 1st?

I still have basic access.
I really don't care yet, but I really want to get Unlimited soon.

'bout 45 minutes into my frrst session (oct 31, 2007) I upgraded.

It took me about 4 hours of total game time. When I realized I wasn't really going to get anywhere as a basic member, I ponied up the dough, and have been a plundering fool ever since. I have enjoyed the quests and I like working toward mastering all the weapons. I also can't help the urge to get to level 40. Lets just say I am a wee bit goal orientated.:mybadki6:

i played for maybe around 2 weeks then i am like i can't take it anymore so i got it but i think its so worth it but still anyway if i didnt get it i would have not just got my grenades today yay me lol

Well I said "Went straight to unlimited" when that's not exactly the case. My boyfriend and I played for a few hours one night and decided it's fun so we went unlimited that same night. Should have a "within a day" option.

I played for four days, I think it was. I ended up buying a sub before the "full screen" option wore off.

I was hooked in 4 days time, and I was debating which plan to get for the last two of those days before upgrading to monthly access (college student budget :piratear:).

I played as limited for close to a week, and then decided to pay for it.

I got to lv 25 in 2 weeks 2 days later i got Unlimited

I had Basic for about three weeks before I upgraded to a Founder Title, I worked my butt off too I wanted that Founder title. Now I use the game cards it's cheaper in the long run for me.

I started playing the game three weeks before school let out (I teach). I got so hooked that I decided to go unlimited after the last day of school. (I didn't see any sense in paying for a game I could only play for an hour at a time, LOL). I even upgraded the video card and memory on my pc so I could play better! : D.

I stil have basic member access... and I know that unlimited is much better but... :smiley20:
