Have you actually seen the movies?

I've realised that a lot of users of POTCO online haven't actually seen any of the POTC movies. I know I haven't, I went to see the second movie in the cinema but ended up falling asleep; so out of interest, have you seen any of the films?

Me: I've seen the second movie only - even then, I only saw 1/4 of it!

AdmiralSavvy 04-27-2008 06:38 PM

Aye

Yeah I have, that's the reason I started playing POTCO. All three, the best movies ever made. :) I have met a lot of people on POTCO who haven't seen the movies, kinda strange....
You should start watching them! :pirate6:

Macon The Black 04-27-2008 07:00 PM

i know i wouldnt want to play if i hadnt seen the movies. you dont know whats going on and how there the same with the story lines. the movies are awesome, seen all 3 many times.

Dr. Zeppers 04-27-2008 07:06 PM

I loved the movies, if I were to be critical, there is always room for improvement, but I thoroughly enjoyed them all.

I was a fan long before the movies, i've ridden the Pirates of the Carribean ride at Disneyland 100's of times having grown up in the southern California area (and years before the first shovel ful of dirt was taken for Disneyworld).

The movies (at least the first one) took several ideas from the original ride itself.

Zeppers lvl 40 - All mastered but lvl 21 cannons
Groggy McJones lvl 26 - All weapons quest/tp quest finished - avoiding story quest

I'm with Samuel here. Fan long before the movies even came out, the ride was one of my Fav at Disneyland (Haunted Mansion the other one). I cant even say how many times Ive watched all 3 of the movies, cause I lost count. Definitely worth watching especially if you enjoy the game.

Twisted 04-28-2008 07:54 AM

I loved the movies. Even though I just saw the last 2 the other night haha! It's really cool how the first movie took stuff from the ride too. I grew up riding that thing all the time! The thing that caught me with the first one is the whistling they did trying to get the dog to bring the keys. I totally remembered that right away from the ride, and took me back to my childhood. That was very cool.

FoolsLove 05-01-2008 05:15 AM

I find that a bit odd. Only reason I even started playing the game was because of the movies. Guess a few people just moved over from the other Disney games not knowing about the movies, or wanted to see them. Or they just like pirate games. Who knows.

Elizabeth Love Heart 05-01-2008 01:50 PM

I have seen all three movies and by far the first and third are the best. You could almost eliminate the filler second movie and lose no content except Maybe why Barbossa is alive in the third movie.

CaptainCharlotte 05-07-2008 03:57 PM

Well....this is shocking. lol
I've seen all movies when they came out in theaters. And I own all on DVD.
This past weekend, I actually sat down and watched all 3, back-to-back.
Yea, I have a slight addiction to these movies, they are some of the best disney magic ever made!

:pirate91:

Lucy 05-09-2008 06:20 PM

I've only seen the first two, I may go get the third this weekend :) I really liked the first one (ALOT) but the second one was meh for me, for some reason.

Bilgepump 05-09-2008 10:00 PM

I finally saw the third movie the other day.

The first one was great. Loved it.

The second one was good, but as it ended in a cliffhanger, it left me a little unsatisfied.

I shall now buck the trend of this thread.

The third? What a stinker. That's two hours of my life I'll never get back.

There was a recent "Simpsons" episode where Bart drives a combine harvester. He runs over some hay, and it bundle it up into bales. He runs over other things, and it bundles them up into nice neat chunks.

Then he runs over a manure pile, and it spits out "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" DVDs.

Bad plot. Bad story. Deus ex machina (literally). Retcons.

Just bad.

Mystdee 05-09-2008 10:13 PM

HAve seen them and own them on DVD. . . . :buds:

Lady Freckles 05-09-2008 10:37 PM

I've seen all three - think the first is still my favorite. :)

Captain Fireskull 05-10-2008 12:46 AM

Ive seen the irst two, Ill see the third son enough.

targ 05-12-2008 01:26 AM

Lord of the Rings,Star Wars, and Indiana Jones were better at least on there the bad guys were bad and the good guys were good.On pirates you have the good guys in real life as bad and the bad guys in real life as good:psmiley27:.
But POTC are still good movies just far from the best.

Kaizoku 05-12-2008 07:40 AM

People who haven't seen any of the PotC movies can have some of my viewings. I've seen them all plenty of times to share with several people and still have some left over. For example, I saw the first one 13 times in the theatres alone. =\ I had a lot of free time that summer... Never got so crazy as I did with LotR (which I used to watch every day after school: just popped in one of the movies and enjoyed!), but yeah. Love the movies. Love the ride. Love pirates in general. It's all good!

piratefan71495 06-03-2008 06:36 PM

:skull: Seen all three over a hundred times...

Meggilyn 07-03-2008 06:09 PM

I've seen them all a thousand times, and know every line to all three movies. lol....

"My name is Megan and I'm a Pirateholic.."

=)

Scottish 07-03-2008 06:41 PM

Went to the theater to watch all three. Waited in line at WDW Westside Theater to see the last one. Better to watch the film with a bunch of pirate fans. Own all 3 on DVDs.

Fell in love with the ride long before the movies. I ride it every time i'm at WDW.

Pirates game is just a plus to keep you in a pirate mood all the time.

Everything Pirates All The Time Baby.

They remade the POTC ride at Disney World? Cool, not actually surprised, its been the most popular ride at Disneyland over the many years.

IsabelleNorrington 07-11-2008 06:04 AM

I hardly understand why someone would play POTCO if they haven't seen the movies. It's already if they do, I just dont understand why. lol.

Me, I've seen the movies more times than I'm sure anyone ever has. I'm completely obsessed with it. I never actually saw the first movie in theatres. But when the dvd came out I watched it over and over again. When Dead Man's Chest came out I saw it in theatres 18 times, seriously. And At World's End I saw 11 times in theatres, though I personally hated the third movie. And I've watched the dvds hundreds and hundreds of times. I have all the merchandise you can possibly imagine. That's why POTCO appealed to me. Because it was my chance to bring to life my own POTC character. =)

emilybpirate 07-12-2008 06:05 PM

I have not actually seen the movies. I am not the type of person that likes watching movies.

I play the game because it's fun.. simply said. I don't see anything wrong it, lol. It's just a way to spend some time.

davy redflint 07-12-2008 06:40 PM

seem them all and own them , hope they make more. pirate forever

Apperently you have no taste in good movies Pirates Of The Caribean At Worlds End was the greatest movie of all time it had the best battle sequence EVER

Charlotte Grey 07-12-2008 11:33 PM

I am so addicted to the Pirates movies (and Johnny Depp. And Jack.) that if someone took the DVDs (or one bit of memorabilia from my room - no matter where it was, under the bed, w.e), I would know, hyperventilate, and die.
I have most of the replica stuff (just a few things lacking thereof) and am collecting all of the merchandise :)
And I've memorized all movies, deleted scenes, and bloopers, and other stuff. And watched all the behind the scenes. I'm getting the LOST DISC (first movie) soon, too!
'Nuff said.

Fillyteen 07-13-2008 07:34 AM

I have, and I even own the dvds of them too

Crimsonite 07-14-2008 07:23 PM

Yup, I have seen all of the Pirates movies... :D

Silver Locket 07-17-2008 02:49 PM

Saw each one in the theater, have all three on dvd and have watched those too many times to admit :psmiley35: My love for Disney and Pirates of the Caribbean are what brought me to this game in the first place. Most of the people I know (aside from my hubby and kids) would just not "get it", why a woman my age is playing a pirates game online.... :laughks2: oh well, thier loss!!

Voski 08-05-2008 06:33 AM

Own all DVDs and I legally changed my name to Jack Sparrow. I work at Captain D's Seafood just because I get to dress like a pirate.

ilikepurpleyogurt 01-24-2009 06:51 PM

Of course!

Yes I've seen them, many times, own them, watch them often...c'mon!?!?!? I started playing this game BECAUSE the movies are so awesome...you fell asleep? Harsh...try watching it again.

Me too Dr. Zeppers. While I haven't ridden it hundreds of times it is a family favorite! Love all three movies and own them all, the first being my favorite. I am looking forward to the 4th one.

Sven Ironwalker 09-24-2010 04:53 PM

I have to second what Dr. Zeppers and Charlotte T. said about the ride and movies.
I love the ride in fact just went on it last week and I still find myself trying to find comparisons between the game and the ride. One of the things I really love is that poor dog. He stands out so much in the ride, made appearance in the movies and now resides on outcast.

Ah, lucky you Sven! We are planning to go back there again one of these days. lol
Love the dog as well, in fact I just saw him for the first time on that little island off of Outcast. :mickeypiratezd4:

Chimera Doll 09-28-2010 05:26 PM

I have seen all of the movies, although I always get lost during the third one. :/
Lucky for those who have been on the rides, I have yet to go to Disneyland/World.

Ah Chimera it is a must do if you ever get the chance. I haven't been to Disney World, but Disneyland is just awesome. lol And of course Pirates of the Caribbean is a must for any pirate fan. They have also changed Tom Sawyers Island to a pirate themed one based on the 2nd movie I believe. I haven't seen it yet, but would love to. I get a little confused during the third one also, but it does have some endearing parts in it, one of my favs being when they arrive at Davey Jones locker to rescue Jack.:mickeypiratezd4:

CaptainMonkeys 09-28-2010 09:43 PM

I have seen all 3, can't wait for the 4th!

On the topic of the ride, if you get a choice to go to the Disneyland one or the Disney World one, definitely go to the Disneyland one! I go to Disney World more often than Disneyland, but I went to Disneyland in Summer '09 (I think...) and I rode the DL one, it's longer and I, personally, like it better!

I will do if I ever get the chance, which hopefully! lol. That's really cool, I'll have to check out Tom Sawyers Island!
And aye, although it confuses me there are some really good parts that I enjoy. Maybe I just need to pay more attention, haha.

Nick The Titan 09-28-2010 10:10 PM

Ive seen all 3! Cant wait for the 4th On Stranger Tides!

Tiberius Fireskull 09-28-2010 11:27 PM

I've seen all three of them, however my disc for POTCO 1 was damaged, so I'm missing parts of it. POTCO 4 is gonna be awful.....

Sorry about your disc Davy. I am certainly hoping the 4th one isn't awful, it is going to be different from the first three I think though. Still I am very much looking forward to it. :)

That's just yer opinion mate... We'll just have to wait and see. And no, most likely it isn't.

Tiberius Fireskull 09-29-2010 04:53 AM

Hate to argue/debate on this thread, but let me point out things. Will Turner, Elizabeth Turner, Davy Jones, and a load of other characters are not coming back, characters that are a big part of the movie, including the two bozo pirates (raighetti and something?). They are adding BLACKBEARD who is definitely not going to match with previous movies, and they are going after the fountain of youth, which seems kinda silly to me. Maybe it won't be awful, but it will be very different... for better or for worse... still, I will see it.

Midhav 09-29-2010 08:30 AM

Will and Elizabeth's stories have ended, and that is inarguable (they clearly made At World's End to end their stories). Now Davy Jones... this character was just one that was added with the second movie and his obvious fate was death. People who watched the film for Jones would just have to get used to the fact that he's gone, and that was intended to happen from the moment he entered into the screen. But I have to agree with Pintel and Ragetti. I really don't see why them, and the crew of the Black Pearl are not coming. Frankly, if the Pearl itself doesn't come I wonder what the story is going to be (they obviously will patch it with something great). And why do you state that Blackbeard is not going to match with the established movies? For At World's End they actually planned for him to come along with Anne Bonney, but that was scrapped. Nothing is wrong with him coming, and it rather makes everything better to have an ACTUAL pirate coming. And the Fountain of Youth was indeed the planned story for the 2nd movie, so it doesn't seem too far-fetched.

But I do agree with your final statement. The movie will be very different from the path the 2nd and 3rd took... For better or for worse. But keep in mind that the sequels to the first movie took a COMPLETELY different path from the original, let alone the path At World's End took from Dead Man's Chest. And it will be good, because, for now fans should only be interested in seeing Jack, Barbossa and Gibbs come, along with these new tag-alongs. And the story will actually be great because of these 3 factions that are heading to find the Foutain: Barbossa, Theodore Groves (Beckett's right hand man) and the Royal Navy; Jack Sparrow and his friends/"sidekicks"; and Blackbeard, Angelica and their crew. Not to mention the dangers they will face on the way....

Tiberius Fireskull 09-30-2010 03:42 AM

Perhaps the movie wont be bad, but I think that it is going to be too different.... Will Turner is my favorite character by far, and not seeing him come back is a heartbreak for me (no not because I love him, he is just an amazing character). The reason the second and third movies are so different from the first is that first movies tend to always be introduction movies. To set the scene, characters, etc. Star Wars was like that wasn't it? The Phantom Menace really just set the scene for what was to come. I agree, maybe it won't be too bad, but it will be extremely different... and I don't think I will like that too much....

Oh how I love debate!

Charlotte Truebonney 09-30-2010 03:13 PM

Well, from what I have read, they asked Orlando Bloom to return and he declined. I don't quite understand that because I haven't seen him in much lately. I am very much looking forward to this new direction, however I do agree with you about Pintel and Ragetti, they provided so much comic relief and I will miss them. Ello Poppit...

Sven Ironwalker 09-30-2010 04:37 PM

I know some of my relatives were extras in the last film... the whole family were extras. Nothing they did ended up on the screen but what they did most often was pretend play the major characters for test shots. They said it was really wild because they got to play all the parts of the major characters (no dialog of course) so they could test all the equipment and angles out. After they were done they would bring out the real cast to shoot the scene. They would have to repeat the same scene over and over for hours so that the actors could come out and do it in only a few takes. From what I heard some of the actors which were left hanging out in trailers waiting were not really happy about it but I only heard that about some of the minor characters. They had a blast though. A great way to spend the week as a family I guess.... they still talk about it all the time...lol

Charlotte Truebonney 09-30-2010 05:15 PM

Hey, thanks for sharing Sven, great story and how fun for your relatives! I'm sure they do talk about it still, I know I would.lol

XxJennaxX 09-30-2010 11:31 PM

I've seen the first two. But yeah I know what you mean about lots of people not seeing them. Two of my best friends in real life haven't even seen the first one. I was shocked when I heard that, because I figured that these were the type of movies that everyone has seen! :mybadki6:

Sven Ironwalker 09-30-2010 11:33 PM

Thanks for the comments.... I tried the casting call for the new movie.. but believe it or not I dont look weird enough... First time in my life I was "to normal looking" ... lol maybe next time!

Charlotte Truebonney 10-01-2010 04:06 AM

While I don't know what you look like and generally people are harder on themselves regarding their looks then other people are. ( does that make sense) My curiosty is really peaked now about this movie since they wanted no "normal looking" people. lol

Midhav 10-01-2010 03:08 PM

lol maybe they were casting people for the roles of Zombies!

Sven Ironwalker 10-01-2010 04:03 PM

They wanted people that looked really weird or had missing limbs. You find out online when they have casting calls for extras ... no experience is needed but you dont really get paid either.

Charlotte Truebonney 10-01-2010 04:08 PM

Hmm, missing limbs...Interesting.

Bubba Bunny x 10-02-2010 09:48 PM

Of course Ive seen the movies and I enjoy each and every one of them! What kind of question is that? ;)

Charlotte Truebonney 10-03-2010 06:44 PM

Lol, Bubba! You would be surprised at the amount of people who actually haven't seen the movies.:jack-sparrow1:
