Clothing Category Pages?
Ahoy all!
Since for each type of clothing, there are certain types, not just coats, vests, etc., but more exact, like "Sleeveless shirt" and then we put all the tables of the Sleveless shirts. We have done this for VMK, when they give us the same name of clothing. Any ideas? ~Cpt.Sea |
I agree. There's many ways to sort these out depending on how to user wants to find things. Right now, it's only by store. Wouldn't be too hard, now that I have all the items up there, to create pages showing just "Vests", "Coats", etc and other pages showing only the subtypes "Sleeveless shirts", etc.
You doing this or should I? |

Ex: Sleeveless shirt I also started a while ago a category called "POTCO Clothing" (I think that's what it is), and we could put the clothing pages in that category, and same with tattoos, jewelery, and hair styles? ~Cpt.Sea |
Yes I see the pages you are talking about in there.
I'll try to make the clothing names match. I never really put much though into it as I was mainly concerned about getting the stuff up there in the first place. |
I'll start working on the categories if we think we should have it in there :).
EDIT: Should we have the actual name of the item, instead of saying all shops, or what shops each style is in? There are different styles of short coats we can use, which is what I meant by doing this, we could list all of the different types of short coats, with their name, which is like the same table we use on the shops. Aslo, shouldn't we have the release/retired dates on the items, and make a timeline like we do for VMK and CP? |
I started on what I think you were after. See what you think and you can take over from there. As you can see I eliminated the Name column. It shouldn't be too hard since all you need to do is copy the table rows from each store.
I added a Category section to the Tailor's page as well. I also added all the pages I made to your category page. I wouldn't worry about a released/retired date column for now. If any more new stuff comes in we can add those dates to the Notes column. I don't think POTC will change items in and out like VMK does. I've only noticed one item, a tattoo, that had been quietly removed by Disney. I wouldn't have even noticed had I not had that tattoo on me. A few others were holiday items for St. Patty day which I noted. |
What I'm thinking is that the recolors is for the individual shops right? If that's the case, we don't need them listed on these pages that we're talking about due to they are just listing them for each store. If not, let me know :).
|
Not sure I know what you mean. I think we can leave it on those pages. Other than a couple of exceptions which I noted, the recolors are consistent from store to store. So it shouldn't hurt to keep the column.
I dunno if you're talking about showing each recolor. That's a mammoth task I'm avoiding hehe. |

When the column recolor is used, is it used to show how many of the same color in that store? If that's the case, we shouldn't list it, because the numbers might very from each store. Also, I've been thinking about that, and the cost range. I don't think they would duplicate some clothing in the same store, it might be just a tad different that we can't tell maybe. If they are the same, but there are prices that very, should we get the pictures of those items, because if they are the same, and they take them out, we should have the history of that. Also, since the price is different, the pics should be used, I think. ~Cpt.Sea |
Recolors means thats the number of different colors of that particular item is available in the store. The style of the item was the same, only the color was different. I only pictured the cheapest. The prices did not vary from store to store nor did one store have a separate set of recolors another didn't. Only a couple instances, which I noted, did a store only offer one color while another store offered all 21. Also items consistently had either 1 color or 21 colors for a particular item. Trust me, I've gone from store to store while making these. I'm very positive I'm right.

I was just a little confused at first. I started the clothing a while ago, but when I looked at Port Royal's tailor, she had about 90 pages of shirts, I haven't gone back to PR to look at them, because yes, most of the items are at different stores, and I get lag when I go to PR (too many new/"old" people on one server LOL). Thanks for clearing up on that Recolors section :). |
Yeah, I saw all those pages and knew I had to trim down some of the work.
|
soem other suggestions
maybe listing the recolors it comes in? as for the price range its a bit vauge when it says 250-2500 i understand listing the independent clothes would result in a 1000 page webpage bc they have so many clothes h how ever maybe with the recolor you could do something like this ___________________________________________ l Name l Colors/Prices l Notes l Picture l l l Red (300), Green(750)l l l |
Yeah it could be listed on the image page perhaps. Wish they told you what the colors were as I'm not that good at knowing the off primary colors hehe.
|
I still think we should get pics of all the colors of certain types of clothing, because that is being more accurate, and that's what we do for the VMK side as well. Since we can buy different colors of shirts in PR, we should list pics of all the colors that they list, unless they are duplicated (same style and color).
It looks like some are done like this on some pages, and some not. ~Cpt.Sea |
Like Chris said I think it would make the list too long. If you want to add pics for all the colors include them along with the price in the detailed image page (the page you go to by clicking the "Click to Preview" images).
|
But DOW is meant for getting info down as accurately as possible. So, we should have them in the shop page, because it is in the shop in the game. Yes, it may be long, but it's an accurate way of saying what's in each store, in my opinion.
I might be misunderstanding what you said, what do you mean bye "include them along with the price in the detailed image page", because there's no preview button on DOW, unless you mean to make one. |
true it is for finding accurate info fast i still think releasing 80+ pages of shirts in port royal was unessicary @_@
|
Yes, it is long, but it's only really 136 imgages for shirts LOL. But that is being accurate, we have pages on VMK clothing shopping where there is i believe 9 items per page, and there's up to like 27 or so pages for just one type of clothing.
If there's some other idea on how to do this with still having the info of the different colors with pictures, but shrink the page, I'll be glad to hear it (well read it but you know what I mean ;) lol). I'm still confused on the preview button. Other ideas are great too read as well :). |
I'll try to describe what I meant as plainly as possible.
Go to any of the lists of items for any store. Put your pointer over any of the clothing item images and click your left mouse button. That will bring you to the page for that image (all of the images on the wiki have a page for them). On that page I added a larger image of that item which shows it in more detail. I liked that since the images all said click to preview on them. I figure if you want to add all the recolors do it there so the lists don't have to be a mile long and you get to show all the items. If you want to add all those recolors go for it. But its too big of a task for me. |
