Random ship questions.....

1) The other night I saw a ship, sitting off the coast of PDF, sinking ships and taking on Storm Reapers etc.... The ship got hit over and over until there almost nothing left but it never sunk! Did that person you some kind of illeagl code of immortality?

2) Today I saw another ship sailing around and it was lowing with a white light around it. Why?

3) I saw a "Black Harbinger" skeleton ship yesterday. Are those new?

Thanks!!!

As for 1 - donno - maybe just got lucky :) Padres Ducks can doc right away and be almost dead so it doesnt matter if they take a lot of damage

My guess on 2 is Lighting being used by someone on that ship - sometimes when my crew fire lighting the flash actually is around my ship (no damage though to us).

There was an update today and I didn't sail - so 3 could be part of the update...

I'm assuming this was a spiky sort of light? If so, it's the leadership skill that you receive for completing "Chapter I: Retrieve the Black Pearl"

Nope, been around all the time, but there's only 1-2 on the entire ocean, usually between outcast and tormenta. ^^

Thanks for the answers!

The Harbinger was hanging around off the starboard side of my ship as I sat at PDF. There were also Dreadnaughts and Collosus there yesterday. Never saw them there before.

Hmmm, I have the leadership skill, I guess I thought it was more temporary, They were lit for a really long time.

EDIT: i stand corrected -_-

Jack I 04-10-2008 03:11 AM

Just to broaden my answer, between Padres and Tormenta. The Harbinger spawns around the swarm of boats near the Tormenta/Cuba area.

Oh, and you're welcome for the help.

As to being lit a long time, there is a bug that happens if you change to a cannon while you're ship captain. It causes it to stay that way until you dock or use it again, but you can't add skill points Chris. ^^

Thanks!!!

Did that ship just 'happen' to be a Frigate? Not the war variety, just a plain ol frigate?

Because I sat and watched a Frigate go from PDF to Kingshead taking full broadside furies, flamebrand broadsides and cannon broadsides as he sailed right through the big knot of ships that sit in that area. There were at 'least' 4 ships hitting him at the same time as he sailed right through the middle of them, not counting the shots he took before reaching that cluster.

He didnt sink.

No, it was actually a War Frigate, I think. It was called Victory Dancer and the Capt. was Jolo...from what I remember.

I have had the game glitch on me and my crew when I 'anchor' the boat just as someone attempts to teleport to me. I end up off the ship with the whole crew, and having been paid for our plundering, meanwhile, the teleporting person remains on the ship!

When I teleport back to this person, my ship in the few times this has happened, became invincible.

It is not something I have been able to repeat at will.

well thats cool but yes some bugs are by pure luck i guess

Silver Beard 04-11-2008 04:45 PM

Yea, I've done that before. You just sit next to Padres and just take some pot-shots at a coupl ships, sink em' all, and if you get a lot of damage, just take the wheel and dock.:laughks2:

Angel 04-11-2008 07:27 PM

LOL, I dont think it works like that for invincibility. Thats called smart sailing hehe

Chris 04-11-2008 07:54 PM

wait invisible as in the sense where no one can attack u?

Rachel Bladeskull 04-13-2008 09:33 PM

1. Don't know
2. It's probably the new sailing skill that you unlock after you complete the boss battle called "Leadership". It causes the ship to have a white-bluish glow on the deck. (thats not the point of the skill)
3. Those aren't new, there just aren't many of them and they are mostly behind Padres and around that area.

Ameila 04-13-2008 10:17 PM

I have seen about three or four Black Harbingers, around fuego near the juggernuts and such..

Mara2397 05-11-2008 02:03 AM

was it me you saw doing that? lol
2 days ago there was some glitch in my game where i could get fired on and fired on in my ship and my ship was not taking any damage. plus, it lasted the whole day no matter if i exited the game and re-started or just logged on/off. and yeah i was sitting in my sloop off the coast of padres hitting the juggernaut and others.

oh btw I do know the invincibilty ship glitch where no ship will ever fire back at you. downside is you have to redo *the little secret that im not posting on here for fear they will fix it* everytime you port.

AdmiralSavvy 05-11-2008 02:09 AM

1: The ship might have used take cover once, or just dodged some of the cannons. Smart sailing, got that right. :D

2: The white light around the ship is the leadership skill you get after you complete the boss battle. Everytime you use it, the ship glows.

3: Black Harbingers have been around a while, but are only seen southwest of PDF, to outcast, and beyond.

Angel 05-11-2008 02:35 AM

A few days ago there was a glitch on the whole server. If you were on Cruzman server, you could sail and never sink. Needless to say it was fixed the next day.

Tab1975 05-19-2008 04:16 AM

Thank you for answering a question I had...I saw my first Dreadnaught tonight and wondered if it was new.

I personally have only seen two Harbingers. Lucky I was in a warship with my fav pirate partner or I would have sailed away PDQ! :)

mongo 05-19-2008 02:52 PM

I had that happen to me one day when my ship (a war galleon) was taking no damage. I didn't exploit it all that much because I'm not in the habit of getting in the way of incoming fire. I went about my business and went off line for the night and everything was back to normal the next day.

It doesn't seem to happen as much now but the glow from Leadership can hang around for a while. Also they seem to have changed the graphics so ships get a shimmer before using Full Sail or Ramming Speed (and I think Come About).

I have run into a few Harbingers now and just a word of warning, they use thier forward facing guns unlike the other skeleton ships.
