I intend for this to be a large guide on all creatures/monsters/soldiers to be found in POTCO. Corrections, suggestions and comments are really appreciated, by the way. I'll be editing this constantly.

Edits already intended:

Adding a picture of each enemy
Alphabetizing
Adding level ranges for each enemy
Adding descriptions for each enemy
Completing guide

Guide History:

March 2nd, 2008: Guide started. I've done a whole lot of work, considering I just started it today. But lots more to do!
March 4th, 2008: Edited in some information people gave me, including the Tormenta gang. Created a Contributors list.

Contributors (Thank You!):

Samantha Wildhound
Angel

Undead Raider
Found: Cutthroat Isle, Padres Del Fuego
Type: Undead
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Hard
Description: A high level Undead. Anyone in their low-mid levels of Notoriety will want to avoid these for some time. Usual Undead drops, plus a bit more average gold.

Fly Trap
Found: Cutthroat Isle, Cuba
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: Yes
Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Description: Stationary enemies, which make running away a lot easier--except for the fact that these weeds love to spit corrosive poison at you, and it, at the moment, seems able to go long range, and even through walls/trees/anything! They vary in level by a lot.

Cave Bat
Found: Tortuga, Port Royal, Padres Del Fuego, Isle de Tormenta
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Used for many quests, but besides that, are pushovers.

Vampire Bats
Found: Tortuga, Port Royal, Padres Del Fuego, Isle de Tormenta
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Usually around level 10, give or take a few levels. Though a quest may want Cave Bat wings, you can get them off these bats, too, I believe.

Cadet
Found: Port Royal, Tortuga, High Seas
Type: Navy Soldier, Living
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Quite common, and something you'll run into a lot when you first start out. Once it gets to the point where you don't even get 1 rep from these guys, or any bit of gold, you'll stop even blinking at these pushovers.

Guard
Found: Port Royal, Tortuga, High Seas
Type: Navy Soldier, Living
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: The next step up from Cadets. These are less common, but twice the level, usually. No real difference besides HP from Cadets.

Sargeant
Found: Port Royal, Tortuga, Kingshead, High Seas
Type: Navy Soldier, Living
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: The next step up from Guards. These can be found in any fort, shining the shoes of Veterans. They range in levels a bit, but are at least a few above Guards.

Veteran
Found: Port Royal, Tortuga, Kingshead, High Seas
Type: Navy Soldier, Living
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Medium
Description: The next step up from Sargeant. Can be found in any fort, with the Cadets on their leash. They're usually level 15-18. They drop roughly 7-24 gold.

Stump
Found: Cutthroat Isle, Outcast Isle
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Hard
Description: Stumps definently win the prettiest monster on this list. And the most ecofriendly. They are above level 30, and can only be found on Cutthroat Island. Low-Med levels should run at the sight of these, or bring a change of pants.

Undead Gravedigger
Found: Port Royal, Tortuga
Type: Undead
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Low level undead. Fall apart if you blow on them.

Undead Bandit
Found: Tortuga, Port Royal
Type: Undead
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Low level Undead. A bit more aggressive than their weaker counterparts.

Undead Witchdoctor
Found: Tortuga, Port Royal, Cutthroat Isle, Padres Del Fuego
Type: Undead
Melee: No
Ranged: Yes
Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Descriptions: Uses a voodoo doll to poke you from a distance. Range from level 9-13, roughly.

Undead Brigand
Found: Tortuga, Cutthroat Isle, Padres Del Fuego
Type: Undead
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Medium
Description: This is the first undead who'll give you any real trouble. They're usually in groups of more than one, and they like to go for you :P Roughly 20 gold can be dropped from these guys, but it might not be worth your trouble if you're not a much higher level than them.

Undead Grenadier
Found: Tortuga, Cutthroat Isle, Padres Del Fuego
Type: Undead
Melee: No
Ranged: Yes
Difficulty: Medium
Description: Usually around level 20, Grenadiers can be irritating, since they can attack with grenades, and you can't see their attacks. They just stare at you, and you take damage! It seems looks can kill.

Undead Gypsy
Found: Padres Del Fuego, Cutthroat Isle
Type: Undead
Melee: No
Ranged: Yes
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Description: High level Undead.

Undead Pirate
Found: Tortuga, Port Royal, Padres Del Fuego
Type: Undead
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: One of the many undead goons you'll find throughout your swashbuckling adventures. Pretty similar to other undead, except they're higher levels than bandits and gravediggers.

Swamp Alligator
Found: Tortuga, Cuba
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: They're like flies if you're on Cuba. They're EVERYwhere. They don't drop much, and are usually hard to see, if they're not on land, because they're so short on their bellies :P

Big Gator
Found: Tortuga, Cuba, Cutthroat Isle
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Found not so often on Cuba, and more often on Cutthroat. Pretty much just a Gator who works out too much.

Huge Alligator
Found: Cutthroat Isle, Cuba
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Medium
Description: The highest form of the Pokemon Alligatormon! The Charizard of swamp alligators, if you will. Quite easy to defeat them. And they're delicious, too! Swamp Gators on steroids.

Thug
Found: Tortuga, Port Royal, High Seas
Type: EITC Soldier, Living
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: The EITC's version of Cadets. These guys pilot EITC ships, and are usually around level 8. They shouldn't give you much trouble.

Dire Wasp
Found: Isla Perdida, Driftwood Island, Rumrunners Isle
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: A little annoying mosquito, buzzing in your ear. They'll poison you, and seem to love to chase you when you try to run away.

Terror Wasp
Found: Isla Perdida
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Medium
Description: These are able to poison you, and are a good bit more powerful than dire wasps. You need one big flyswatter for these. And by flyswatter I mean sword.

Sand Crab
Found: Driftwood Island, Rumrunner Isle, Devil's Anvil, Isle Cangrejos, Cutthroat Isle, Outcast Isle
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Barely even worth killing, unless you're just minutes into the game. Only reason you should kill these is to fry em' up over a fire!

Rock Crab
Found: Driftwood Island, Rumrunner's Isle, Devil's Anvil, Isle Cangrejos, Isla Tormenta, Cutthroat Isle, Outcast Isle
Type: Unknown
Melee: Yes
Ranged: No

This is great! ill use it from now on, thanks :psmiley27:

:psmiley27:
Awesome, but 1 thing, you forgot Navy Officers, there level 20+ i believe, medium difficuly, found at kingshead and padres del fuego, ranged yes, mele yes and Description: your basic navy officer, level 20+ and can be annoying at times

Eustace the Monk 03-31-2008 05:06 PM

Nice. Very well put together. I would like to see the enemy levels table expanded on. I get a lot of questions about that, but always just give a guesstimate. Thanks for providing this to us.

Loot Hard!

shadowypirate 03-31-2008 05:34 PM

Well this is more for the quests, say like to defeat 5 level 7 undead critters. You can see what may be a level 7 and where those critters lurk.

Dr. Zeppers 03-31-2008 11:36 PM

If you go deep enough into the fortress at kings head, you will find plenty of assassin's, and mercenaries, as well as high level officers.

I found a room there, that appeared to spawn them the moment you entered the room.

LOL, I ran!!!

FortuneRed 04-03-2008 11:52 PM

This really helped, thanks a bunch.

Random1 04-04-2008 03:18 PM

Stumps are also at....erm....Outcast and El sudoron (in padres del fuego)

almostsane1 04-24-2008 08:04 PM

this is a fantasic post! thanks for all the hard work you put into this.

fotogenieguy 04-28-2008 06:25 PM

I just got a new one. Josie Macreedy's work for hire quest has me looking for 6 Sea Serpents. I haven't seen any of these so I don't know if they are a part of Davy Jones' crew or a ship. Johnny McVanes' quest has me looking for 10 Seabeards so I know they are different. Anyone know what I need to be looking for reference the Sea serpents????

Lady Freckles 05-04-2008 10:23 PM

Nice chart, thanks for posting it. It's really helpful for me right now as I've been away from the game for a while and forgotten where to find a lot of 'critters.' Although, the new quests have certainly reminded where Huger Gators, Dread Scorpions etc etc can be found ... ;)

Eustace the Monk 05-04-2008 10:31 PM

Thanks for making this one Sticky. Hopefully there will be fewer questions on where to find which beastie now. Hopefully.

Loot Hard!

Lady Freckles 05-04-2008 10:40 PM

I've said it before, I'll say it again I'm sure - the Search button is your friend!

I just wish there was an option to include all search words or any search words. It is kind of rough sorting through them if it will take 1 word or another or both. Also, I noticed the minimum word length for a search is 4 characters. This makes it difficult for Mac users to find posts relating to their systems. Maybe there is a way to add Mac as an exception to the 4 character limitation. And no, I do not have a Mac.

BTW. You may delete this post when you read it, since I went off topic, or I will. :)

i do believe in advance searches you can choose the option to search for the words as a group however thats in advanced it hard enough for people to use the search let alone advanced search

OT: I LOVE the chat i saved it and printed it as a handy copy to have on use ty so much for this great chart

Shippley 05-05-2008 03:50 PM

where do I find Hired-Guns?

SavvyPink 05-07-2008 09:53 PM

Huge Alligators are also found in the Padres Jungle.

Hile 05-08-2008 01:30 PM

There are no Sea Serpents yet. Drop the quest.

Good place for Hired-Gun is Beckett's Quarry in PDF.

AdmiralSavvy 05-10-2008 03:03 AM

Very useful chart mate! I'll be sure to show it to anyone who needs help finding an enemy. :)

corndog20 05-12-2008 02:45 PM

Thanks for the chart, very helpful!

Dr. Zeppers 05-12-2008 03:54 PM

Very cool chart.

I have been working on an online database, however that chart makes things pretty darn easy to find quickly. :)

My work in progress if anyones interested. Yes, it's got some wierd glitchs, but works for the most part (still improving it as I have time). Some of the information may need updating, such as attacks.. I sorta guessed at some of them. Levels of enemies, are based on those seen, other levels may be present, but not yet observed/noted.

This guide has come in handy for me a few times lol. They seriously need to put Terrors on other islands too!!!

Davy 05-13-2008 12:23 AM

Thank you, I will add it to the list.

shadowypirate 05-13-2008 05:20 PM

Well, if they had everything everywhere, we'd never go anywhere.

Tetley 05-31-2008 07:39 PM

I think this is my new favorite. Great job!!!

Cool! If you see any discrepancies/errors in the info, let me know.
Going to be working on improving it soon, and of course adding the new undead french/spanish.

I briefly saw a tag in Fort Charles yesterday That I swear included General. . . .it disappeared quickly and I looked for it, but never found it. Have not seen General before and don't see it on the enemy lists IS there a general or did I miss read it? ( or imagine it LOL)

Kaionai 06-02-2008 07:12 PM

I know...update..new enemy's spanish/French...hehehe:laughks2: J/k Nice chart it helps alot.

Gereth 06-11-2008 07:34 PM

Does anyone know where the "Venus" Fly Traps are? Not the regular ones.

Jack I 06-11-2008 08:12 PM

I'm pretty sure "venus" fly traps and fly traps are the same, Disney just adds extra detail here and there for the quests (which can be confusing in some situations.). ^^

Peggo 06-11-2008 08:26 PM

They're all Venus. Unless something has drasticly changed. :)

TEAN 06-13-2008 12:14 PM

hey good job on the guide :)
definitely very useful

Tutle 06-23-2008 05:00 AM

Often one description of a quest item is not the actual 'name' of the item.

There have been several references to wasps other than "Terror" or "Dire" which are the two available types in the game. Closer inspection of your Journal should help you determine which it is you need.

Dire wasps are available in Port Royal in Kings Run, on Driftwood and Rumrunners isles, and on Isla Perdida.

Terror wasps are only available at Isla Perdida as far as my journey's have found.

Epzilona 07-03-2008 03:20 PM

Handy. I think I've fought everything except Killer Wasps and some of the Tormenta high-level undeads.
The Dreadnaught can get up to Lv40. And yes its a navy ship.

misgapeach 07-04-2008 03:29 PM

thanks

This chart is VERY helpful, thank yoU!

DarthChaosSky 07-09-2008 12:10 PM

You should add the new Spanish and French enemies to the main list, as well as the new ships they come with.

Swash 07-14-2008 01:52 AM

you forgot the navy officer

Tagerr 07-14-2008 02:01 AM

Great guide, but your missing something. You don't have the El Sudoron ( padres ) location for stumps

Lovely Lass 07-16-2008 04:05 PM

Thanks for taking the time to make this chart and post it! It has saved me a lot of time! :bookishfj7:

Blacksmoke81 08-14-2008 12:37 PM

Thier uniqueness in the game, and general interest only to high level players (who know where they are), and weighing in the usefulness/size of the chart, I dont think it needed that information.

Some might coin and slightly change on old cliche.. If you need to know the names/levels of Davey's crew before you go there, then you dont need to go there! ;)

Grace Macbane 08-18-2008 06:52 AM

Sweet. This is a great chart. Thanks, this will help.

Now that the quest tracking thing works better, I can't imagine this coming up very often, anymore. Sure, it could be better, but nowadays when you are tracking a quest, it at least points you in the right direction most of the time.

Well, actually it is still helpful to know where the critters are.

Now having played for some time now I know where most everything is.
The cool tracking ray of light helps only to pick the culprit out of a crowd, and doesnt necessarily tell you where to go to find it. hehe

Well, actually, it does point to the correct island, when at sea. E.g. track "dire wasps" for doll quest, will point you right to Port Royal (and then right to King's Run when you land.) It's been quite a few months, since I've seen it point incorrectly.

Yes, its worked alot better since last fall, however it does still point out June incorrectly. ;)

Edward Edgemenace 02-10-2009 08:05 PM

ROTFL. OK, except for June Greer, (which I haven't quested for recently) then. lol

This is a new guide I decided to make:

Navy-

Dr. Zeppers 06-07-2009 09:41 AM

I recently went on a world (Caribbean) tour and visited every island, every room, every nook, every cranny I knew of, took notes on what I found, cleared the floor a few times and noted what returned (spawned) back in their places, etc. I compiled it into an updated database, I invite you all to check it out. This contains all the new enemies I could find, including some bosses, most if not all the permanent ones, and a few of the random ones where I saw them.

Note: This is based on observations in the various areas, there may be other enemies available that spawn on occasion, and there are certainly more random bosses than listed.

Happy Hunting/Plundering Mateys!!!

Great update! I see you put most of the new enemies and ships, I don't see the Corrupt Stump on it and I thin kyou're missing a few (???) No one could possibly find all of the enemies.:ziwyvs: (If you want, prove me wrong. But I would need proof.:bookishfj7:):Pirate4::degen:

undead captain is very rare in tormenta cave and jolly roger and lord beckett are bosses when you complete the story chapter but jolly roger has appeared in the game when you create a new pirate also these are the right and true levels

Davy Keelhawk 08-06-2009 03:12 PM

bosses are enemies you fight in-game, not seen in cutscenes. most pirates have completed story chapter and have NEVER seen a jolly roger boss (aside from that big green one in some caves) OR a cutler beckett boss.

another check list told me that there is a story chapter jolly roger and cutler beckett

Davy Keelhawk 08-06-2009 06:47 PM

mate, there is no new story chapter :( and to get to a new one right now you would have hack potco or be a developer.

Dr. Zeppers 08-07-2009 05:46 PM

There is no undead captain captain in the game.
Even POTCO finally removed it from their players guide.

Our affiliate wiki is working on updating its information accordingly.

Jack Sunskull 08-07-2009 06:06 PM

seadog12340 08-21-2009 03:39 AM

Well, now there are. I know the quote is an old post, and I'm sure you know it, Zep, but to those of you who don't, Undead Captains can now be found during Wave 7 of any Undead Invasion ( sorry to be Captain Obvious :laughks2: ).

Also, there is no Lord Beckett boss. Only The Goliath and Jolly Roger. Be glad JR made his appearance.

Sorry matey, the only time you'll see JR in POTCO is during an invasion, and people don't know how much health he has, seeing as the LVL bar has question marks. Also, Lord Beckett has never appeared as a fightable boss in the game, as far as I know.

SEAKING23 10-19-2010 04:59 PM

I'd put Seabeards, Urchinfists, Thrall Captains, etc., under "Davy Jones", although we never meet him.
