Boss Battle helm control

In the regular game if someone comes on my ship, and takes the wheel, I can take it back simply by going to the wheel. It bumps them off, me being the captain of the ship.

In the Boss Battle, it does not seem to do this. The first person on the crew wether they are supposed to or not, that grabs the wheel apparently has control from then on out, and it cannot be taken back unless they relinqish it.

I had this happen to me, I finally had recruited a crew that could help me beat it, and someone took the helm, and finished my quest for me...

A months work for someone else to finish my quest.. Gee thanks!!!

Oh well, just thought i'd mention it, as I thought it strange, that I being the captain of the crew, etc (launcher of the battle, etc) that I should have this priveledge, and the game did not grant it. If thats the way its sposed to be, then thats the way its sposed to be.

Anyone else have an issue like this?

I always dedicate the sailor before goin in. I hate having a chosen capt go in and someone else take the wheel. I love sailing and we just did Calebs boss battle, I asked if he wanted to sail just for this reason. It was his glory, not mine.

This is a good thing to point out though - if the player cannot take the wheel back once someone else takes it all players really must appoint the captain (or the player who is going for the battle appoint someone if they do not want to do it)...

Totally agreed Angel - just to be able to go multiple times is a privelage - taking it from someone else is just bad taste :)

I wish they would give us the optio n to go multiple times. I would like to be able to say "I finally completed it myself doin it solo!!!"

Jack Gunhawk 03-28-2008 11:15 PM

Why would someone do such a thing? you work hard to get there, they'll have thier own chance, so you should get yours. I'd be so mad if someone took my helm, we should tell disney about it.

Like angel said, its their glory not ours, when it is our glory, then sure, take the helm, but otherwise, nuh uh.

In my case, there was a miscommunication really. One guy decided he was going to do the sailing, and while the rest of us talked about what we were going to do, he kept on about what he was going to do, so busy doing so, that he ignored us planning the battle. When I tried to resolve it within the battle, I was unable to, and it wouldnt let me take the wheel over.

The unfortunate outcome was that I am very disappointed, and feel sorta jipped outta finishing my quest.

Everyone was so sorry afterwards, and said "lets do it again, and you can sail", of course, I could not, the quest was finished.

My only hope is that individual lets me sail HIS boss battle when he gets to it. (I wont hold my breath)

<added> Talked to Live Chat support... Nothing we can do!

I said, Yes there is. You can cancel my account, and refund my money.

Suddenly I got a, hmmm well why dont you submit a bug report and we'll see what we can do.

In the meantime if it happens to anyone else, I suggest you immediately logout, so it doesnt register you as having completed the battle.

the same thing happened to me. I sent an email and talked to tech support, neither would do anything to fix it. The tech basically told me to seal someone else's quest.

Does that make sense?

Starting to sound like the Disney POTC online motto: Lets not fix it, lets just start another wave of problems and wait for it to get out of hand before we consider doing anything about it.

Cheat, break the game, do not show consideration towards others, be rude, and keep paying us.

If you say anything in chat about it, we'll put you in the corner for 72 hours.

Such wonderful family values...

Tried logging out when that happened to one of my pirates. Discussed before starting it, saying my pirate would drive. Someone else jumped on wheel after the officers, someone else jumped on wheel after frigates. Reported person person (with founder gold coin no less) then logged out. It was just after fisrt three bridges. Came back a little while later - quest complete. (NOTE: LOGGING OUT DID NOT HELP.)

Deleted pirate and started over. A month or two later, Edward Edgemenace (lvl 36 - "Little Ed") completed boss battle ALONE. "Boss battle with crew" shouldn't even be an option until you've tried it at least fifty times on your own. Boss battle with crew should never, ever, ever allow someone to take the wheel without consent from the person who started the boss battle. That same person (the person who started boss battle) needs to be able to take the wheel back at ANY time. Two people with the quest should not be allowed to go on the same boss battle voyage. Shameful, that these bugs still exists half a year later, worse than ever.

Yeah I found that out later after that post...I really sympathize.

I had tried the BB actually a number of times by myself, but didnt really have to much of a clue what to try then, first pirate, first boss battle situation, had never seen it before, etc. I'd have a much better chance these days.

I think two people with the quest should be able to go on the same boss battle, to help each other perhaps, but it should ONLY finish the quest for the person that initiated the boss battle, and noone else.

Gabyta 08-02-2008 12:26 AM

This happened to me.. a boy asked me if I needed help on BB, I told him that I had it pendant so he said, join this crew and we'll help you, as soon as we started the battle and got the officers, someone took the wheel and completed the quest for me.
I'll have my own BB soon (on test)

Yes, what you say makes much more sense...only the person that starts the boss battle completes it...and that person must have complete control over who drives, revocable at any time. That's how I assumed it would work, the first time I was in that situation - I was very surprised to hear that I had just completed the boss battle for three separate individuals. (And downright baffled, that they were all thankful.)

they should make a boss battle control panel when you initiate it it will give you options like who sails and difficulty
