Should Basic Access members be able to get a bigger ship?

I think so...the Light Sloop gets very boring to sail after awhile...and I might ask my parents if I could get unlimited access.

Chris 03-25-2008 02:05 AM

i said no but i think basic should be able to purchase light sloops light galleons and light frigates but thats it .-.

Angel 03-25-2008 03:16 AM

its one way they try to get u to upgrade. IMO if you paid for unlimited and go back to Basic because they cant keep up with gameplay, then u should be able to keep ur ships.

Bilgepump 03-25-2008 01:16 PM

I think they should be able to get the light ships.

Jeflafla 03-25-2008 02:27 PM

i think they should have to work for the light sloop, it's annoying to see 28393 light sloops swarming things, start people with 0 ships and make them buy their first one

League 03-25-2008 10:25 PM

Well, businesses have to make a profit, and they already allow people to test and play for free (although I and some others did join simply because it was free at first). If they don't allow basic mems to get a bigger ship, then they shouldn't be allowed to. The above idea, where the basics ahve to work for a simple light sloop, is also a bad idea. Personally, I find sailing to be the greatest and best designed aspect of PO. Once I did it, it made me like the game a whole bunch more. All in all, it is good as it is from a business perspective. Basic mems can't complain, because it is free. (now as for those whose access has exspired, they shouldn't lsoe whatever they had to invest some time in, savvy?)

I have to agree with you. I think they should get the Light ships

shadowypirate 03-25-2008 10:45 PM

The basic membership is a trial. If you like what you see, go unlimited, if not, don't. If you can't afford it, find a free online game somewhere.

Davy 03-26-2008 12:27 AM

I said no because the Poll title was 'should everyone be able to purchase larger ships'. I thought you meant low levels. I think basic access should be able to get up to the light frigate. The War ships should be for Sailing lvl 10+, Mid size for 5+, customizable ships for 15+. Customizable ships shouldn't cost a definite amount of money - each upgrade and hull style costs money.

Chris 03-26-2008 01:05 AM

i really want custamizable ships!!!!! grrr im tired of having generic everything

Li Rigbain 03-26-2008 01:55 AM

I agree with you Chris and I also agree that the Basic Access members only get the light ships. I did not mean in my poll that everyone can get any ship, just be able to purchase a bigger ship that's all. But yeah I think those are good ideas.

Kate104 03-27-2008 03:49 AM

if they let you buy everything then they would never get anyone to buy unlimited. they have to draw the line somewhere...

skullofjeffry 03-27-2008 08:50 AM

if you get bored fight some navy cadets

Captain jonessparrow 03-29-2008 07:29 AM

skullofjeffry i dont think most people would want to i would rather fight some brigands to be honest.. but low levels would:)

dangerousden 03-29-2008 11:24 AM

Its an understandable strategy. Nearly every games gives you a sampler for free. Its how they get people to join. I got to level 12 before I actually signed up. I was enjoying playing so much I had to get the voodoo doll and go zapping soldiers.

I signed myself and my wife (Meg Redbonnet) up to the game.

As for the poll. No - the free members should not be able to buy the bigger ships, although I think thta simply giving you a ship is a bit too easy. You should have to do something a little more piratey to get it, or maybe buy it.

Chris 03-29-2008 12:41 PM

yes us paying is very important if not enough people payed then servers would have to be removed (more lag) producers will be cut (less new cool things) and overall the game would get cruddy so i agree basics should not be able to compleate the bp quest should not buy ships larger than light should not get doll dagger nades or staff should not be able to tp to any island or be allowed on kingshead

Smash 03-30-2008 08:49 AM

I think that Basic should be able to get all the Light ones.. Way to many Light Sloops in the ocean.. ^^

Costumizable ships.. that makes my head run wild! Wouldn't it be sweet if you could have a huge ship, LOTS of crew could fit, a look-out tower with a ladder you could climb up, and even a door you can go inside of, go below deck, and you could play poker with other crew mates? that would cost a lot though.. lol! =P

Chris 03-30-2008 12:10 PM

if only :buds:.......

smvb 03-30-2008 12:26 PM

Yes, but only Lights

I said yes, but think it ought to be limited to only the Light Galleon and Light Frigates.

Li Rigbain 04-01-2008 10:15 PM

They did say they might make it possible to rearrange cannons and such.

I agree with you because if they were able to get everything from regular class to war, they would regret it. Just imagine a lvl 7 sailor taking on a Juggernaut with a war frigate. :laughks2:

Plus, seeing all those little light sloops gets annoying after a while.....

Dr. Zeppers 04-27-2008 07:34 PM

As a few others stated, it would probably decent if the basic accounts, could purchase any "light" class vessels. However I would quickly point out that the poll'ers comment himself explains why you cant.

"...and I might ask my parents if I could get unlimited access."

Because he wants the bigger ships... sounds to me like the business model is working in this regard. ;)

Zeppers lvl 40 - All mastered but lvl 21 cannons
Groggy McJones lvl 26 - All weapons quest/tp quest finished - avoiding story quest

I still say giving them light class ships would be nice. Then they would sail on a war ship and really want one lol. I also think we should be able to hold more than 3 ships. I mean it does say "Upgrade to be able to purchase all 9 classes of ships!" but it dont tell you that you can only have 3 at a time.

seaturtledude 04-27-2008 09:38 PM

The reason PotCO does this is to make the basic access members want to purchase their product more, and usually they buy it (I did.) But-- I think Giving them a light galleon wouldn't hurt :).

Aliese 04-27-2008 10:29 PM

I think letting them have any light ship would be okay, but if they want the good stuff, they should pay like the rest of us. It's not like the game's really expensive, anyway... :)

DrStinglock 04-28-2008 04:27 AM

Giving? Give them the worst of the worst.

Make them earn anything better.

starved5 05-06-2008 06:17 PM

haha they do allow basic access to get light galleons now right?

Joseph 07-18-2008 06:05 PM

I think everybody should be able to buy the first 6 ships but the war shis should only be for unlimited members
