Emote Guide (With Descriptions!)

Hello all,

There's quite a few emotes to start us off with, but we didn't even get a list on Live! In test, they gave a big list that looked far too jumbled... So here you go.

This is a list broken down by categories, and includes descriptions of what each emote will say and/or do.

KEY POINTS:

*an action that your pirate actually does will be shown in asterisks*

"All of the descriptions are in quotes, and they all say YOU... other people will see it as your name instead... for example: If my pirate (Remi Boncoeur) does the /agree emote, I'll see 'You agree.' Other people will see 'Remi Boncoeur agrees.'"

- /Primp is FEMALES ONLY. All other actions seem to be unisex... lame.

- /FLIRT did not come over from test... also lame.

Here's the list! Thanks in advance for comments/suggestions/edits:

RemiBoncoeur 03-02-2008 12:35 PM

My favorite is definitely /9000

Chris 03-02-2008 03:31 PM

lol yea i like 9000, and the flip a coin the whole bark moo and meow was just really random O_o

btw great thread!

Random1 03-24-2008 02:41 AM

lol, wish you could snatch the coin XD

The Commodore 06-03-2008 11:49 PM

I saw a guy today use one for chew meat. Any idea the key word?

Ameila 06-05-2008 09:05 PM

My cousin saw someone with confetti around them, and it said: '--- Sparkles'

Ferrex The Scurvy 06-05-2008 10:38 PM

Can't say I've seen any meat chewing, but I noted on the official site's Q & A section the following bit about unusual emotes:

Quote:

From Steven:

I was wondering why some POTC online players (avatars) over level 30 can do things like play a guitar or sweep with a brush??!! What is this and how do they do this? Thanks!

This sounds like a case of our DEV's showing off! Stay tuned for fun emotes that may be unlocked by certain quests and notoriety gains.
"Maybe it was a Developer?" I guess is the official answer for players doing weird things. But, I do like the idea of special emotes for quests rewards.

League 06-07-2008 02:10 AM

Twouldn't make much sense to me to do that; anyway, can't say I've seen any meat munching. I would like to see two of a slightly less etiquital source: one for a little scratch of the buttocks, and one for a picking of the nose complete with a little flick.

CoolPirate 06-07-2008 11:37 PM

thanks i've been wondering how to do these for a while now.

larkija 06-17-2008 11:00 PM

I tried the clap emotion today. It obviously sounds recorded.

Swash 07-13-2008 08:17 PM

you forgot /blink

Katie Scarlett 07-24-2008 07:19 PM

I know this is an old sticky, but I was wondering about the option to make your pirate afk. You type /afk and the pink letters pop up over your head. :)

Swash 07-24-2008 11:53 PM

/search thats a new one

Kretzge 08-08-2008 06:47 PM

Wait but ive seen people pour drinks and stuff, how do they do that?

Charlotte Grey 08-08-2008 08:55 PM

/flirt existed?
Haha, I'd KILL to see that!
I asked them about a whole bunch of them, that they never made, like "/kiss" or, my favorite, "/slap" - imagine being able to slap Jack! Now, THAT would be AWESOME!!!

Disney is pretty strict about subject matter surrounding personal relationships. Doesnt seem they put in any that could be seen as an attack or lashing out at another player. Maybe the game will grow up a bit as time goes on. ;)

Charlotte Grey 08-08-2008 09:59 PM

Ah, I know, I didn't mean like "lip" kiss, I means like a simple hand kiss or something ;)

And they said they liked the slap idea...

Charlotte Grey 08-10-2008 01:25 AM

Scratch that, I meant "blow a kiss" (checked the email I sent)

Edward Edgemenace 09-15-2008 10:49 AM

Please add "/event" and "/x2"

Captain Seaford 09-19-2008 11:00 PM

Thanks for taking the time to make this list. I never knew vittles existed!

Mr.LoveLocket 09-19-2008 11:12 PM

woot ty :)

StellaInTheSky 09-25-2008 08:03 PM

Know this is an old thread, but don't ever type /time. I couldn't remember how to cue up and see how much time was left on the double gold event, and I typed /time...it popped up "You don't have access to this command" or something along those lines (I'm too lazy to try it again), then booted me off of the game. NOT necessary. =(

Andrew 09-30-2008 04:04 PM

I wonder...what would /flirt do?...

you walk up to a girl and do /flirt
an option comes up for what to flirt about, like how pretty she is, she looks nice, level, etc..things like that

and they it whispers to her what you did.
Wow that sounds like a good idea

No way... a few funny e-motes are fine like primp and flex - but I dont need a pirate dating site full of 'fash me and woo me'... just let me say hi and start playing :)

I concur, im there really to play pirates not to use it as a social platform. Friends I meet along the way are pluses. And if I want to flirt, I dont need an action command to do it ;)

Emotes can be fun to play with during those board or awkward moments.

sanddevil 10-06-2008 07:52 AM

Nice job on putting together a good list of emotes. It's alot better then the one disney posted.

alldaymd 10-23-2008 06:22 AM

You guys know about the zombie one ? That one is funny.

/zombie is very funny, i hope they keep that and not just have it for halloween. We got all the guild online to stand in a line and dance to it, best laugh i've had on pirates in a long time.

Andrew 10-23-2008 04:07 PM

I havent tried that one yet..
Did you guys notice when the short pirates did the sad, yes, or nod emote, all they do is put their arms like a scarecrow?....

And another thing, when you do /kneel for the kneel, you actually kneel down!
You might wanna add that in there Remi ;)

Captain NightWolf 10-23-2008 04:46 PM

/kneel wasn't working a little while ago...Lizzy and I both tried with no success...and it was missing from the menu of emotes as well...

Wonder if too many were using /kneel to give virtual marriage proposals or something...lol

charle88 10-23-2008 11:08 PM

I hope they add /robot (you dance the robot),/chicken (You walk like a chicken),and maybe something like /En Garde (When you pull out your cutlass, you look like the undead French holding there cutlasses),and something for the Spanish dual cutlass look.

Bonnylass64 10-24-2008 04:27 PM

Wow am I late in finding this thread...Still, thanks for all the info :)

SonnyDay 10-24-2008 10:02 PM

Kneel doesn't work anymore. It doesn't say you kneel anymore

League 10-25-2008 10:33 PM

Kneel is not on my list Ed, and duly noted Sven.

Deadpool 10-25-2008 10:36 PM

nice guide!! cool

League 10-25-2008 11:13 PM

Err, thank ye, but it mine not be.

Lenna 10-28-2008 06:43 PM

Hi
I appreciated you took the time to type all those ‘emotes” but, sad to said that majority of them to be exactly 90% of the list does not work. You can type them, but the avatar does not do the action. It is frustrated to take the time to go over the whole list and waist the time trying to get something that work to show to your friend. Anyway thank you for doing the homework.

Dr. Zeppers 10-28-2008 06:45 PM

Regarding the original post going without an update.
It was missing 1 emote, the new one, need to give people time to come around and update.

Remaking a guide (actually copying and adding one) is not the best approach in replacing a guide. May be best to notify administration and ask them how to proceed, they may wish to remove the previous, or revise it accordingly.

Just a suggestion, thanks mateys!

League 10-28-2008 11:25 PM

Duly noted, until next time!

Rusty Razor Cate Capshaw 10-29-2008 04:52 AM

I didn't, OP wasn't around at the time, yada yada yada, yada yada ya.

whiskey 11-03-2008 05:12 AM

We need a *Forbidden* list.

Do not try /time. It will kick you out of the game.

Ghostcannon 11-05-2008 12:14 PM

Whiskey good point... /time kicks you out...also (Shift + F2) is the equivallent of /time... we definetly need a forbidden list.

MollyStormkidd 11-05-2008 04:26 PM

haha i so just did /time to see what it did....maybe it shouldn't be on a list to avoid my curiosity :p

Andrew 11-05-2008 05:01 PM

/zombie is from thrller, lol
/time I think are for Host GMs. Like when its time for them to switch servers, then just type in /time and it switches them to that server automatically.

I gotsa new one: / is crew HUD.

Yes Edward, I made sure to note that "/kneel" it was removed on 10/24/08.

The main list should be up to date.

As for the new list /time is not an emote, this is an administrative command, cannot be used and should be removed from the 2nd list.
Management determined it should not be listed.

Jack Darkbane 12-24-2008 05:30 PM

/zombie isnt working for me, does it only work in the test server or has it been removed?

Sven Osymthe 12-24-2008 05:32 PM

Zombie was removed.

combatlizzy 12-24-2008 06:16 PM

I was told that 'slap' did exist at one time. Don't know if it's true.
My favorite has got to be /hiss (u hiss menacingly)...of course it is...I'm combatkitty...lol

Sven Osymthe 12-24-2008 06:17 PM

Lizzy I thought your favorite was......./drink

combatlizzy 12-24-2008 06:20 PM

I heard about that one. Not very Disney-like behaviour :snowman1:

Also: /time no longer crashes the game. It now reports the Server Time.

Andrew 01-31-2009 07:28 PM

/zombie and /noise are gone now ;)

Also, dont know if any mod wants to add this or not, but it no longer SAYS your action, it just does it,

Ex.
you type in /wave, all that happens is your character waves, it doesnt say "you wave"

Edward Edgemenace 02-18-2009 11:41 PM

The "/flirt" emote was only active for a few days around Valentine's Day, deactivated 11:59PM 2/16/2009. It produced one of several random chat messages, such as:

"If you were a booger, I'd pick you first."
"Hello, I'm a pirate and I'm here to steal your heart."
"Do you have a map? I keep getting lost in your eyes."
"I just found the treasure I've been searching for."

By the way, the "/kneel" action seems to be only for when you get on a cannon (the action for the emote) but as far as I know, the "kneel" emote itself has never been activated directly, in the game. By exploiting a right-mouse glitch, you can turn your pirate away from the cannon as you kneel, so that it looks like you are kneeling or bowing to another pirate.

Likewise, glitching the right mouse button as you take the helm of a ship, you can do a "hug," as long as you are holding the right-mouse button.

Nicholasfunstuff 02-19-2009 12:15 AM

You can also do /afk if you want people to know you are not there on the computer.

jason davy 02-19-2009 12:50 AM

Of course 50% or more of the emotes are rendered useless after the P.R. etc updates. Unless they're fixed by now, which I'm not aware of. They are on the list of Disney's things to fix by the way, but I'm assuming it isn't a priority.

WOOT-- Its Oct. and /zombie works on test YEAH love that dance LOL Edit: just saw this on another thread after I posted lol

StellaInTheSky 10-03-2009 04:27 PM

Don't know if this has been mentioned, or if I just totally missed it in the original post...but I've begun seeing people going AFK while standing with their hands on their hips. Is there an emote I've missed out on?

Sven Osymthe 10-03-2009 05:00 PM

/glare is the emote that your looking for, they added it with one of the older updates (I remember finding Jack I, then we did random emotes and got that :D). It only works correctly for the male pirates though, and /confused is the same way.

CarribeanThunder 10-03-2009 10:56 PM

/Bored also does an animation now. Similar to what Rott's four other buddies would do.

topdog13 10-28-2009 10:19 PM

:rip:yea guys they removed kneel because people pretended to get married they runied it lol

Captain Sureshot 11-03-2009 12:52 AM

...hey, wasn't there an emote /howl during the curse last year? Maybe I drank too much rum because I can't find anyone else who has a similar recollection. Also /lfg puts up the same "Looking For Crew" as /lfc does.

Sarah 11-03-2009 01:07 AM

Think it was the rum CS ;)

joere444 11-17-2009 05:12 PM

the server time ones kinda cool Im gonna try that the next time I log in. If I ever get any time off from working out lol.

Cpt. Charlotte Doyle 11-17-2009 05:44 PM

has anyone mentioned that girls cant look confused or glare?

well, the glare emote is fun for girls because if you take out a weapon, then type the command, you wind up frozen in some odd stances.

Captain Seafarer CO. 11-19-2009 12:10 AM

I see some people doing a stance where their arms are placed on their hips and the head shakes the way the shipwright and shop tellers do.

I'd like to know what that emote is called or better yet, how to do it.

Cpt. Charlotte Doyle 11-19-2009 01:51 AM

That one is glare, Captain. To do it, you type this in your chat box

/glare

Captain Seafarer CO. 11-19-2009 05:47 PM

Thanx, mate! I shall try...

Cpt. Charlotte Doyle 11-23-2009 07:21 AM

so by accident, i found out that shift F1 will give you a detailed account of where you are in maya and panda code... in the form of a thought or speech bubble.

and shift f6 does something else along those lines, latency and...some other computer lingo im not familiar with.

but i thought it should be mentioned, as i thought it useful to use as a tool for bug report screen shots for testers, and for open. i did catch screenies of this in action if you want them posted...

Captain Seafarer CO. 12-09-2009 09:02 PM

Um, have you tried shift+F2 yet?

I heard that one closes your game or something. But, you never know until you try it.
Edit: There's also a /Quit. After some fooling around with different commands, I found that /Quit works as well as Alt/F4 and anything else that closes the game.

/Time doesn't seem to work anymore, either.

Eliza Creststeel 02-08-2010 11:05 PM

Glare only works for the guys. It says You Glare Angrily as a female, but there's no animation to go with it.

/BORED has you just stand a little different and shift stances.

kageroumaru 02-09-2010 08:19 PM

awwww.. flirt is funky... girls might take advantage of that to get wat thye want ~_^

My2Cents 06-16-2010 08:51 AM

Wow, that's great! I can't wait to try them out. Too bad the game is under maintenance right now. Well, at least I have somethin' to look forward to, eh? :skull:

Chimera Doll 07-24-2010 07:15 PM

I'm really glad I saw this! Can't wait to try a few out myself hehe.

Piplupower 07-24-2010 07:26 PM

I never remembered kneel. However, I have seen some level 2 guys stuck on their knee before... :psmiley35:

Tiberius Fireskull 10-09-2010 06:17 AM

I have never seen kneel. If anyone has it, could you post a screenie plz?

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-28-2010 03:53 AM

kneel was when you got down on 1 knee then put your hands on top of the other knee much like the "will you marry me.." pose, which is why they removed it cuz to many ppl were doint that & it was "abused" disney didnt tell us about removing it bc it would be like saying " i know you like the popcicle, thats the EXACT reason im NOT giving it to you" LOLOLOL

Captain Sharktooth 11-28-2010 06:35 AM

lol there are actually a few there i have never tried
