Anyone a fan of REAL pirates?
sorry mods, this is probably the wrong spot, my biggest apologies =).
Is anybody on here a fan of real pirates? I.e Anne Bonny, Bartholemew Roberts, Blackbeard, Henry Morgan etc? If you are, let me know! I admire Anne Bonny the most =). |
yes mainly henry morgan love them
|
Great =]. Henry Morgan was one of the most succesful Pirates, I can see why you like him! A privateer, no?
|
aye plus he was a REAL pirate of the carribean and made dock at the REAL port royal and was one of the most notorious pirates for his time ;) invading the spanish empire down in panama :degen:
|
Morgan and Black Bart for the WIN!
|
nobody here knows any real ones I know I dont:laughks2:
|
I got a pirate collection, including books, toys, and videos.
BTW, anyone remember that old game by Sid Meyers, Pirates! Got that from 20 years aog, box, map and all. |
Yes, I'm a fan of William Edward Teach ( A.K.A. Blackbeard ).
I've read numerous books on him... Most fierce pirate ever. |
Aye, with burning sticks in his beard, and gun powder in his rum!!
I recently visited the Outer Banks, ScurvyCory, where he used to roam free =). According to legend, one of the places he stashed some booty is on Ocracoke island.. Awesome, eh? And as legend also goes, if you sit on the beach on a certain day of the year, at sunset his ship appears on the horizon.. I didn't see it myself, but mind you it was probably the wrong day lol. Glad I found some Pirate maties!! |
Also like Jack Rackham.
|
Obviously, I am a fan of Eustace the Monk AKA The Black Monk. Not so obviously, I am also a fan of Ching Ii, Ching Shih, and Chang Poa (My PvPers name - Tried it and it went through). Got them in your collection of information? No fair G..gling them. :D
Man, I cannot wait for our dreary colors to come back. Loot Hard! |
yeah, ive heard of ALL of them, but i read dis book it said there really was a ship called the black pearl........ it was HUGE.
|
I think Black Bart and Black Beard were the best of the Caribbean, despite there brief careers and violent endings, Anne was more just popular, the one that I always thought needed more publicity was the guy who started it all with one big heist then retired, I forget his name.
|
I've since created Thomas Tew and Edward Teach. Thomas is coming along nicely and Edward... Well, Edward is still in his infancy. Getting ready to DB Chang Poa. He had a good run, but an error in his build is making him as useless to me as Grapeshot on Collosus.
Loot Hard! |
Do pirates still exist? Nobody teaches history about pirates at school.
|
Of course they still exist. They just have a different name now. AP has a recent (April 30th) article on such modern day pirates.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j...lha0gD90CBQH01 I apologize if the Associated Press feeds on G..gle are unapproved sites. Loot Hard! |
Pirates still exist. Go down to the Caribbean once in a while and be sure to sail. You might meet a few that way :)
|
Pirates DO exist. I had a pretty rough experience with them on a Cruise ship. I was looking over the side of the boat when suddenly something grabbed my feet and pulled me onto the side of the boat. He held me by my hair. I couldn't get a good look at him becuase I was busy fighting. I ended up doing this sequence in one motion:
Left hand jab, right hand uppercut (to the chin), grab the bar he was hanging on to, and kick his head into the water. I succeeded, watched him fall into the water and row away in his boat, and then proceeded to climb back aboard the cruise ship. I did, in fact, learn his name; or, rather, his alias that he likes to go by. His name: Batleth:laughks2: Just kidding :mybadki6: But yes, Pirates do exist still. |
These YouTube Irish history lessons were conducted at the House of Ireland in San Diego's Balboa Park. The historian can be boring and interesting at the same time. If you are interested in Irish history, check out all the videos available on YouTube from this poster.

I love pirates, even though they were dirty, sneaky buggers. Love 'em! I have a few books on the lot and several more on my list. And, of course, I've dressed as a pirate for Halloween several times. Went as Blackbeard in junior high while my three friends were Anne Bonny, Mary Read and Calico Jack. Yup. A girl dressing as Blackbeard. I rocked it, though.
Just today, actually, I caught a History program called "True Caribbean Pirates." It was a fun, two-hour crash course on the biggest names in the Caribbean. Keep an eye out for it, if you can! |
i KNow. there was a article thingy that said something about pirates killing or taking over things, but i don't know if they were actually talkin about real pirates. :O
lol (JAG, E.D.M.) Guide to the Unknown |
Cheng Sao, IMO the most successful women pirate, probably the most successful pirate of them all. I am thinking of writting a book about her, but because of her not kid freindly life, it will be difficult to write a childrens novel, like I want to. But I am going to attempt to, anyway.
|
You mention those guys.... But not Black beard? hes the greatest pirate of all time.
Quote:
