AFK Mode
 

I think POTCO should have an afk mode.

Click the afk button and you cannot move, attack, be attacked, be attuned by another player.

EDIT: The new official AFK mode is /sleep. Girls may also check their nails, and guys may also flip a coin to signal AFK.

Usually I go in water and press ".afk" It leaves a bubble saying "afk" and doesn't go away and I don't get attcked.

LOL, I ended up in jail doin that last night. Mustve been eaten by the sea monster i've heard so much about!!

This is great - for the Adults... but none of the underagers see it...

So I have AFK on my head and I still get 20 trying to friend me because they do not see bubble messages...

They REALLY need a ICQ / Mesenger Chat interface for status (Online / Away / Offline (for thos times you want to be alone) Busy) if for nothing else I don't get 'pecked apart by gulls' on the Port Royal Beach LOL

Invisimode would be cool too.

I just go into a small building or something and use a thought bubble with the words "afk".

Afk mode is useless. just log off, lol. Or go to a place w/ no enemies and type ".Afk".

POTCO can be made similar to VMK in the features way. But please, PLEASE keep POF different from VMK in everything else, especially the waiting for updates!

I would love to have an afk button. I was thinking the sleep mode will work, but enemies can still attack. But it's better than nothing. :)

:laughks2::laughks2:and in sleep mode u do what pull a pillow from ur pocket and lie down on the floor and sleep ?? lol the only problem i have with afk mode is the fact that u walk around and like everyone is afk O_o and since there pirate is still online that pirate is still taking equal room in the server which causes more lag plus potco will be filled with zombies or in roses case full of sleepy pirates

With the new emotes coming, there is a sleep. Your pirate just stands and sleeps. Kinda like AFK. DOnt know for how long though.

oh cool but ill be afk in the meantime waiting for the sleep emote to come lol :laughks2: and i dont know about u but i know nobody who sleep standing up O_o

I would like an afk but, i wouldnt like them not being able not to be attacked, simply because maybe in the future youd see alot of afk pirates in heavily enemy infested areas, would look silly and cause quite some lag for the slower comps maybe?

but i would really be interested in an invisible mode so I can be alone when I choose, but still interact with a couple friends id like to talk with (yes I do sometimes just sit and converse with a few of them, and having the rest of my friends tp to me and stand around while im standing around talking, is sort on inconvenient for all.

I will type a .afk when Im going afk in a habitated place. It will keep the invites down to a few hundred. The . will keep the message up there until I type something else. If I need to do some real life stuff quickly.. it works like a charm.

Yeah. This was suggested to be an option in VMK. Never happened. Most likely will happen there first if it even does happen..

Ok I did the .afk thing, and it worked really well. The only thing I saw was someone said to me "hmm, staring at a wall?" lol but no friend requests :)

ok, First off, dumb question...Why is it AFK? Shouldn't it be AFC?

Second, the more people start to play this game, I think they're gonna start kicking off innactive pirates, like they do to your toons in toontown. For now, I use the thought bubble, too though, and it seems to work fine for me.

AFK is an acronym for "Away From Keyboard"
AFC would work if you were in a crew and needed to go AFK, though.

This sounds sort of like a get out of jail free card. getting attacked? dont wanna be? type /afk pass go collect 200 dollars.

Yea I think they need that too when some one pms you on a IM while you play the game

true it might be abused well they could do something like the tp system u cant go /afk until u were no longer in battle

How about a self destruct botton that looks EXACTLY like the AFK button placed right next to it. :laughks2::laughks2:

AHHH...see, learn something new every day. I thought it stood for "away from computer", hence my confusion (konfusion) LOL :)

I had never thought of the possibility of it being "Away From Computer." That could work too, since being away from the keyboard implies being away from the computer as well. lol

We could make "flip a coin" the unofficial AFK mode, either that or dance since they're the only two persistant emotes.

Flip a coin is probably better.

I must have nudged my pirate while trying sleep, didn't notice it was persistant. I'll join Rose in making it my official AFK state.

I'll spread the word that /sleep is the official afk emote.

The official emote for signaling that you are afk is /sleep. From now on, instead of .afk, please type /sleep. This will make your pirate fall asleep, signaling that you are AFK (away from keyboard).

Not sure an 'official' emote is needed lol. I might elect to use /sleep, while others might want to use .afk, while others might want to just stand facing a wall. :)

To bad the sleep emote didn't slowly build up rep while resting, like world of warcraft but that simply program might take them as long to design as to fix the boss battle

While we're electing emotes, I elect flip a coin as the official "I'm broke and this is the only piece of gold I have, will you help?" emote. XD

But really, I'll remember that /sleep is the afk emote when I'm playing. ^^

LOL, I was haveing fun with teh flip coin one yesterday. IMO looks like someone askin to "charge by the hr". I was renting my ship out lol.

AFK is the very worst thing they have come up with for the game
they are every wherepirates of the living dead and most of them
do it right in the middle of some thing.

if you feel it's necassary to afk get out of the way
flip a coin yes let's encourage bad game play
