Well, they were not yours in the first place. Why should the person
give you credit for the avatar if you did not make them? The person has every right to use that avatar, because he/she may have looked for them on their own. It could be just a coincidence since you both have a great taste in video games. :) |

And to be honest, I doubt the person who stole it found it themselves. |
I understand you are fustrated that you spent a lot of time
finding the avatar. But there is a small possiblility that the person did find it themselves, though. It is jumping to conclusions, saying they stole them from you. Maybe they did, maybe they did not. Who knows? :) The real answer, of course, is http://icons.iconator.com/501/ICONAT...c5222b7220.gif If I were you, I would just take down the whole avatar section on your page. That way you do not have to worry about anything like this ever again, savvy? :) |
Crimson, let's face the facts. The person who stole it doesn't seem like the type to be internet savvy. Look, I know by now you think I am being pompous.
Maybe I am being pompus. Or maybe I just tell it the way it is. P.S. Nice avvie. I would never take it without crediting you or asking you. It's just plain courtesy. |
May I use one? I have gotten my title changed to represtent my Nobody form.

__________________________________________________ ___________________ Where many of those Avatars came from it clearly states that "direct linking, stealing, archiving and posting elsewhere is strictly forbidden. Pay the artists a visit from time to time, and when used give credit to the artist (they underlined that, not me) of the icons and ***** ********." I will keep the Design co. name out. The graphic artists names are submitted with their work, and they have galleries for a reason. To be recognized. No one should have to give you credit, no offense, simply because you've "found them." You did not spend the time making them, which by the way can take hourssss and longer. We're all searching for images at some point or another, whatever the purpose may be, which means we all spend time doing so. There is no mention of the artists name near the avatar you are using. When other artists take their time to create you custom graphics, do you credit them? In RE: to CrimsonDOOM: Removing images from one section, may help (the artists in particular), or may not. I have found my work stolen (work that I rendered, from stratch), so I understand it sucks to have work which you have spent hours if not days on, taken. However, there is the internet, and it allows for right clicking. I don't only work with graphics, I'm more of a hands on artist, and I've had my work stolen/copied in the real, too... it happens to be a cruddy fact of life. I'm in no way at all meaning to be rude... I'm just writing here (from a different viewpoint, trying to make a point, and sense, at 4am)... I hope you, and others who have posted here can appreciate where I am coming from. |
I actually have credited the artitsts, however it would be impossible and not right for me to name names due to me either not knowing their names, or only knowing their real names.
|
I completely understand how you feel. I would hate it SO MUCH if somebody copied my avatar....
<3 meh avatar <3 |
From the way I look at it, once anything is uploaded onto the internet, it's free game. (Especially pictures) Sorry if you feel that someone "stole" the pictures from your page, but didn't you "steal" them from someone else's site?

In fact, I have my own layout site with copyright and it's not right to just take stuff at free will, and putting your own rules that credit back to yourself. Animations and photo manipulations are what most avatars are made of. It could take an artist hours to do that, and believe me, I just spent 3 hours on this animated signature. So unless you made the artwork, I don't think you should be putting rules and "pretend copyright" on it that credit back to yourself. I, myself, wouldn't be happy if someone decided to just take my signature right now, put it on their userpage, and say, "NO STEALING! I found it, not you." |
iShadow, I am using one of your Avatars. Credit is down in my signature.
|
Why doesn't any of you actually talk to me instead of discussing the matters among others, inserting little insults of me here and there?
I never said you can't take it. I just asked you for some courtesy of thanking me for finding them. And I did give credit to the artists. But I can't name them, because it's either I don't know their username, or their username is their real name (which I can't post). |

I'm just going to reiterate... Where many of those Avatars came from it clearly states that "direct linking, stealing, archiving and posting elsewhere is strictly forbidden. Pay the artists a visit from time to time, and when used give credit to the artist (they underlined that, not me) of the icons and ***** ********." I will keep the Design co. name out. The graphic artists names are submitted with their work, and they have galleries for a reason. To be recognized. It does have them as copyright. (which is what I posted in an above post). But Like I've said in my post above, people have outright stolen my work that's taken much longer than 3 hours (which is a long time anyway, artists times, is well, precious time)... it's just life. But it sucks. |

You're telling people to credit you for finding the material in their signature areas or avatar areas... but I do not see you doing that... tis why I ask. As for the artists names... sometimes their names on a *particular* site... are there. I'm just trying to hope you can understand from anothers pont of view. |

I hope you find out who

Ishadow, one question, If you cant say there titles, then how are you crediting the REAL ARTISTS
|
Well first off... it was not yours to start with. You did not make it so why would people have to give YOU credit for it. If they were needed to give credit it would be to the site/artist who made them. Also, you don't have proof that they took it from you. Yes, usualy they would copy it from someone, but they could of found the same picture on another site or even the same one. I kind of agree to what schmoofy said. Once an image is placed on the internet its up for grabs. All you have to do is copy and paste an image and you got it. Sometimes people don't give credit for their picture either. I can understand what your going at, but if they were not yours to start with, they don't need to give you credit for it. But you should give credit to the site they got it from.

Look, obviously no one here will even try to see it from my eyes. Obviously, all you think I am is a hypocrite.
So, fine, I'll take all of the slander. Because it may be true. But, if all you are going to do is flame, don't post. I want this thread closed. |
