No Boots!

Is there anywhere where a girl can get a nice pair of shoes??? I'm tired of these clunky old boots they keep trying to foist off on us. They may be all right for the guys, and okay if you're going off into one of those grottos, but I'd like to wear something refined around town. So far, I'm going barefoot!

Ladies, arise! Demand the inclusion of a good shoe shop![/COLOR]

I could hardley read this with the colors, and now I have a headache...

william kid 01-13-2012 06:47 PM

Yes as Davy said not the best color maybe stick to the default for posts though I do understand with Rose as your name a nice red would add a personal touch to your posts.

OT: I must admit I hadn't thought about shoes and what you lady pirates had to wear but not sure what you would have besides boots. I guess sandles or such ? You could send big D a e mail and ask for them maybe they could put them out with the next couple of months theme clothes. Wouldn't think it would be to hard and if you Rose up (ha ha just playing) and told em how ya feel along with some others who feel the same they might listen. Wouldn't hold my breath but they might. It's Disney after all, they make dreams come true.

Tia 01-13-2012 08:22 PM

I personally don't care because
1) Almost the whole time I've played the game through past years, I've gone barefoot and find it fun.
-&-
2) I wear regular brown boots that I've looted, nicely enough.

So ya. I don't understand why pirates need good clothes. You're just gonna be battling in them anyways :P

Kale Grayhand 01-13-2012 08:39 PM

I see your point and it would be nice to get some new kinds of clothes overall, including shoes. As for me though, I'm a pirate and I'm going to dress like one even if it means wearing those clunky, mud-encrusted, sweaty boots.

Eliza Creststeel 01-13-2012 11:26 PM

It would be nice to have something other than tall boots or short boots. Regular shoes, flats, sandals, etc would be a nice addition.

That, plus trying to find shoes in Amazon size, is one of the reasons the Amazon is barefoot fairly often. Besides, its nice to feel my toes in the surf and boots are slippery on a wet ship deck.

Davy_Mcwrecker 01-14-2012 12:47 AM

I don't get why someone would complain about the female boots.
Y'all have more types than the males do: Ankle, Regular, and Tall.
Males: Short, (Thick)/Regular.

The guys shuold be complaining.

Also, I say we should ALL complain about the only pants being highwaters... I want my pants to my ankles! D:<

static156 01-14-2012 03:23 AM

I agree with davy! Besides just go shoeless like me..... ':D'

Robert Blackthorne 01-14-2012 01:39 PM

As a Pirate re-enactor and historian, I can tell you boots are a "movie/TV" thing anyway..even for men. Most pirates went barefoot on ship, unless they were dressing up to go ashore into town...then they wore shoes and stockings. There was no use for boots at sea...The salt water would eat away at them, they promoted foot fungus in wet conditions, and were made for people who walked in urine and dung infested streets at the time...not sailors. The same reason for wearing "slops" instead of pants....On a ship, your feet, ankles, and lower leg ARE going to be constantly wet...There was no use for boots and long pants, and they created problems at sea..... Just a historic point of view.

Robert Blackthorne 01-14-2012 01:48 PM

P.S.....Another historic fact...The soles of shoes and boots in the time were flat leather, and had very little traction....Don't think I'd want to be in either on any wet or somewhat slick surface... Might end up in the drink!

Crimson Rose 01-14-2012 04:46 PM

I agree entirely. Only officers wore footwear on a ship. When you're climbing ratlines or walking out along a yardarm 140 feet above the deck, you want to be barefoot.

They did spread sand around the deck during a fight. It stops you from slipping in the blood. How's that for your historic perspective.

I wear boots when I'm in the grottos, but I sure would like to get some nice pumps for in town.

Well I like the tall boots, an Im not sure what merchants sale them, but I do know for the sure that the one behind Dark Heart Does :) I hope you find what you are looking for!

Try doing the Barbossa Outfit shop on Padres. It is in the little run-down area by the entrance to Beckett's Quarry, I think her name starts with an "A". It requires going to Tormenta, so I got some help. I could only do one or two damage at a time! But, it is worth it. I have no idea what the lady wear is, but you get a nice collection of rare clothes. Hope this helps!

I`m on that quest now, thanks to your advice. We`ll see what comes of it.

I had to get a high-level friend to help me with the corrupted stumps. I told him I was on a quest for some really nice shoes.

No reaction. Guys don`t get it.

Still on that quest. I've got to kill some more corrupt stumps on Outcast Isle. I tried it by myself and got knocked flat in short order. Anyone want to help me with this? I should be on this afternoon between 18:00 to 20:00 GMT (1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time) or 23:00 to 3:00 GMT (6:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST).

I can help you with this.. If you are on right now, tell me a server and place to meet up.

Crimson Rose 01-25-2012 01:46 AM

Thanks all, you are a right friendly, helpful bunch. I've had several kind offers of help.

However I bumped into a pirate "friend" just after lunch who wanted help on a quest. I helped him, he helped me, both quests completed, and we both ended up in jail (program seized up just as we were fighting a "heavy" for sport and Rep. )

Peeve! I'm almost at the end of the high-level clothes quest, and Adoria Dolores gave me the pants - ugly charcoal grey (although not bad with my white blouse and crimson sash) - and said she'd work on the belt and boots.

I'm a petite lady. I am polite and helpful. I do my best to look good at all times (except maybe when I'm alone in a grotto.) Where are my slippers?

Crimson Rose 01-30-2012 07:25 PM

Short black boots. Not bad. I think I'll keep them. They go well with some of my outfits.

If you're reading this and you are one of the several characters that helped me in my quest, many thanks.

(I still want some real shoes, though.)

Hmm I like barefoot....

Morgan_Blackhart 02-01-2012 03:54 AM

Unlike most women, I am not overly fond of shoes :P

Crimson Rose 02-01-2012 03:58 PM

I'm not overly fond of shoes. My name is not Imelda Marcos. I just can't stand those big clunky boots. Barefoot on a ship is okay, but in town and in the grottos, not so good. You don't know what you will step in.

I'm a petite woman (who enjoys whacking those big domineering men,) and I don't think I look good in big boots. One pair of shoes is all I ask. Black, with a gold buckle.

Maybe these Peddlers will one day sell you what you're looking for. I think in November they did sell shoes for the ladies. I don't think they were black though.

Just go to their official website and fill out that Feedback form. Let them know how you would like to see them shoes in the Tailor shops. And why stop at just having one color? Why not choose the color as well from that generic color plate? Funny thing is no one is bothered by the fact that our pirates don't even wear socks. lol, maybe we should have them sell it too. Come to think of it, what about underwear? Our mamas wants us to wear clean ones! How can we? They don't sell any! rofl

I could write to them too. I believe a little reverse psychology with a touch of charm best expressed by only a fine gentleman of my stature could certainly speed up that process. ;)

Crimson Rose 02-02-2012 04:13 AM

If I remove all my (character's) clothes, I'm left standing there in (under)shorts and a light (under)shirt. I presume the guys are somewhat the same, except they don't have undershirts. I've seen some of the characters going around bare chested.

The bad news is, we can't change our underwear. The good news is, we don't have to do laundry.

I bought the new February hat, blouse and skirt as soon as they were out. Not bad, but not flashy. Then I cringed because the next thing I had to do was run through the Cuban swamp to go see Tia Dalma. On the way back to the row boat I accidentally stepped off the drop-off near the boat and had to swim for it.

What a wonderful world it is where you can go splashing thru a swamp and then swimming, and step out with your clothes looking fresh and new and your hair and makeup perfect.

Adora on PDF does have some nice finery and the gals do have the advantage of having ankle, calf and thigh high boots available while the gents only have ankle and calf high. But, other options would still be nice. Shoes for many were a luxury to be sure as were any clothes beyond strictly necessity. But, we folk here know that only so much of POTCO is based on historical fact and its those little bends of reality that add flourish to our experience.
