How do you name your ships?
 

I'm quite picky about how I name my ships, to be honest.

First of all, I always use alliterations. Where the words sound similar in a sentence or phrase, such as "Apples always act appropriately", "Happy Harry hears Henry".

Second of all the name is appropriate to the type of ship.

Sloops are FAST and SMALL. Names like tiger, serpent, shadow...those are appropriate.

Galleons are BIG, and I associate them with money and earning. Names...titan, fortune, queen, king, sultan...yeah.

Frigates are POWERFUL. Gun, warlord, sabre, storm, you get the idea.

So, here's my ship names as follows:




Light sloop - Riptide Raptor

Sloop - Tide Tiger

Galleon - Fortune Forager

Frigate - Storm Sultan



There's my advice. You don't need the alliteration, but you do need the name to fit the ship type.

So, the question remains, how do you name YOUR ships? Go ahead, list them.

I use the same name for all my ships:

Bilge Queen

No, I don't take myself very seriously.

Mine are like this,
Scarlet Raptor: Sloop
Scarlet Hawk: Galleon
Scarlet Eagle: Frigate when i get one
Scarlet Wolf: Light Sloop

I like the color scarlet and like how it sounds. I just is a trademark of mine. For War ships i'll change it to riptide.

All my pirates have a "key" first name for their ships....
Renegade Rouge (frigate)
Renegade Riever (war sloop)
Renegade Explorer (galleon)

Green Demon (light sloop)
Green Serpent (light frigate)

Crimson Raven (light sloop)
Crimson ...

I always have fish in my names. Like Renegade Fish, Savage Fish or Outlaw Fish. I just think it's funny that fish is on the list.

Mine are all going to be xyz Demon or xyz Dragon

Right now I've got a Sloop, Blue Dragon. I'm saving for a War Sloop (and working on lvl 15) but no name yet.

Red Explorer = Galleon
Scarlet Navigator = Frigate
That's all my boats right now, but once I get war class I think I'll change colors to something majestic like Silver. ^^

War Frigate: Shadow Demon

I will switch out between Shadow Dragon with each Galleon Class ship whenever i feel like using it for an extended period of time.

I prefer Shadow Dragon above all names because i am guildmaster to The Shades(hence the shadow name) of Kya(name of a dragon).

Theres a pretty big story behind my naming of ships than meets teh eye but i'd rather not go into it all.

Well I am Shadow Cat... so my ships always have Shadow as the first word

War Sloop: Shadow Warrior - I dunno... it just looks like a Shadow Warrior XD
War Frigate: Shadow Dancer - I always thought this was a pretty name :3
War Galleon: uh still saving up for that lol

My ships are all foxes with some color added to them (Silver Fox, Red Fox...). Foxes are just so cute, cuddly and cool animals. :vcool:

I named my first...three ships black raven...then I sold two and kept my light frigate...then bought a light sloop for going to like...port royal from tortuga and named it white raven...

My W Sloop (the first in my fleet) was named Red Queen, for my love of Alice in Wonderland

The next biggest, the W Galleon, was named Red King, to show a step up (though, let's face, the war sloop could destroy this slow thing.)

Finally, the W Frigate is named VICTORY TITAN!!!! ... because it was the most pretentious name I could come up with from the options.

My pirate name is Sarah O'Scarlet. So, all my ship names begin with Scarlet.

Scarlet Bull (gallion)
Scarlet Fox (sloop)
and Scarlet Queen (frigate)

I'm such a huge Disney fanatic (seen those Orlando commercial where the mom turns into a little kid? Thats me. 33 going on 6) that I tend to name mine in honor of something Disneyish.

Sloop - Dark water Raptor (Okay, that's not Disney, but I liked the name).
Light Frigate - Black Trident (in honor of King Triten...or Ursula, depending on your liking...)
Galleon - Sea Sultan (In honor of Aladdin...or Jafar, depending on your liking...)

When I get my war ship, she will be some form of Dragon, named after my all time fav Disney character, Maleficent.

My sister's pirate, Kat Badkidd, has a Peter Panish appearance about her, and all her ships are the Green..something.

Since our guild is Crewe Skysail, all my ships are "Skysail something-or-other". My current galleon is the Skysail Voyager (and I can count on two hands how many other ships I've seen with this name, too..)

My bosses will be glad you like our commercial. Anyhoo... I'm sticking with the bad guy motif:

"Black Mongrel" - War Sloop
"Black Demon" - Galleon

I sail the Sea Lion, and I always will.

My arriving War Sloop on pirate #1 (Miles Glorioso) will be the Fortune Queen[/I], which so far is the name of my Sloop. On pirate #2 (The Artful Dodger) it will be called the Outlaw Runner, or something of that nature. The War Frigate with #1 is going to be called the Wave Mongrel while #2's is gonna be the Star-chaser Dragon. Don't know much about the Galleon class names.

Angels are in my sig. As for HUnters, of course I had to go with Hunter.....

War Galleon is Fortune Hunter
War Frigate is Sea Hunter

I might pick up the War sloop, but that will be called Black Stallion only cause its the fast lil taxi :)
