Choose Your Path

This is a very popular game on numerous other forums and sites that has been played for a number of years, and I've been meaning to try it out here. With the reopening of the activities forum, I'm gonna give it a go.

In the game "Choose Your Path," you will be given a miniature story line, where you, the participants, are the protagonist. You will be told a little foreword, and then you will be presented with 3 options based on the story. Based on these options, you will post the option that you would like to see follow through, and preferably why, so you can convince others as to how you want the story to go. The option that receives the most votes will be chosen to progress the story.

For example, Del says:

You see a bottle of rum up a tree. Do you:

A. Climb up the tree using your bare hands.
B. Burn the tree to the ground to save you from back pains.
C. Who needs the rum? Way to much work for me.

Because the majority of the posters chose option B, option B will then be used to progress the story.

The story will be run by myself, and myself alone, so we can keep things fair and organized. (Plus me being active on the forums is an understatement, so don't worry about me slacking.) I will usually wait until 3 posts have been made to continue the story - in the event of a draw with the first 3 posts, I will wait until one option gets the lead.

Try to keep the atmosphere of the story alive by using actual reasons behind your answers - it'll be more fun for us all if you surround yourself in the story! And, of course, remember to follow all of POF's guidelines, and do not use this thread for chatter other than discussing the options for the story.

Arr ya ready mates? Let's begin!

You are sitting in the King's Arm on Tortuga by yourself, though the room is filled with all sorts of lively, drunken conversation. As you sit at the bar with your half-full bottle of spiced rum, you see in the reflection of the glass of your bottle a shady character with his hat tipped over his brow, sitting by himself. Do you:

A. Buy the man a drink, making sure the good ole bartender delivers it with your regards.
B. Ignore him. He seems like trouble, and a pirate doesn't need more trouble on his plate.
C. Waltz over and engage him in conversation! Maybe he's just lonely?

AdmiralSavvy 11-16-2011 03:07 AM

If this was real life, I'd pick B, but considering how boring that is...
I pick C! Who knows? Maybe we have a common interest that we can delve into.

CaptainMonkeys 11-16-2011 03:12 AM

Savvy makes a good point... real life, B would be ideal. "Stranger Danger!" and stuff.

But as well, I'm very sociable so I pick C as well~

WeirdBeard 11-16-2011 03:17 AM

Why would any pirate choose A? In Real life, i'd choose B, but as Savvy said, that IS boring, so C is epic choice.

Captain Del 11-16-2011 03:22 AM

With a big smile on your face you jiggle your way through the crowds that are mixing around the bar (with your bottle in hand, of course,) and step right up to the table shrouded in the shadows at the far end of the bar. You raise your hand to your chest to introduce yourself, but before you can speak the man mutters in a very deep, rough tone "If you don't step away from this table I might just shoot you where you stand."

You catch eye of a pistol sitting in his lap, shining in the candlelight with a menace. How do you react?

A. Draw your own pistol and shoot him before he shoots you! He can't kill you if he's dead first, savvy?
B. Offer him your bottle of rum. What pirate could turn that down?
C. Step away from the table with your hands up, to show you mean no harm.

WeirdBeard 11-16-2011 03:24 AM

As long as i'm quick to the Draw, i saw A!

Deadpool 11-16-2011 03:27 AM

I chose A... He dare take my kindness for weakness?!

Captain Gas 11-16-2011 03:42 AM

I choose A....nobody threatens da Lord of Gas and gets away with it!

Captain Del 11-16-2011 03:50 AM

In an act of desperation you draw your pistol, but before you can even aim the barrel of your gun you feel your arm clasped down on by a heavy hand, that tugs you down to the warm, hard wooden floor on the ground. You hit it on your back with a thud, and as you see stars before your eyes, you see the man round the table with two very large body guards at his side, standing over you.

"Now mate, that wasn't the best of plans." The man says, rubbing his long, braided beard. "Tell you what. If you're willing to prove me a little of your loyalty, I may just let you off with a little more than a good nod."

Seeing this offer, how do you respond?

A. Accept the fact you aren't in a good spot, and agree to cooperate with him.
B. Try to get up and run past his body guards before they can catch you!
C. Fall asleep on the ground. Your head was pounding enough with the rum.

WeirdBeard 11-16-2011 04:00 AM

I'm not doing anything stupid. A

Captain Gas 11-16-2011 04:14 AM

B. I'm not loyal to anyone but the Partners. :P Oh, and the Sorcerors. :P

HammyTheSquirrel 11-16-2011 04:30 AM

I'm not the type to be rebellious... lol... so A.

Captain Del 11-16-2011 04:43 AM

You nod slowly to the man to show you agree to his terms, and he smiles, tipping up his hat to let some more light shine on his face. "Good, good. Men, help the mate up."

As the two burly men grip you by your shirt and pull you up before their captain, the man introduces himself. "Name is Delmaria Darkskull; Captain, Delmaria Darkskull, of course. You seem to be quite the flotsam in these waters," he says as he scans over your loose, rag-like clothes. "Not to worry. I'm sure that you can make a name for yourself, as long as you don't run off like an idiot as you did a few minutes ago."

You shake the pirate's hand, and he tips his hat, and heads back to his seat, where he plops down and returns to casually sipping his drink. You stand there, confused and waiting for direction, until he realizes you are still standing there. "Oh, that's right, you still owe me a favor." Without finishing his statement he then leans back in to his chair, but when he notices again you haven't moved, he rolls his eyes and huffs. "Do you expect me to tell you what to do all the time? If you want to do something for me then do it! Don't make it a chore for me!"

What shall you do to prove your "friendship?"

A. Sneak around the bar and swipe a few bottles of rum from the counter for your new friend. Nobody will notice, aye?
B. Punch the first guy who makes eye contact with you square in the face! That'll show everybody not to mess with you!
C. Walk over to the card tables and bluff as high as you can. He'll have to take in to consideration befriending a daredevil like you.

Captain Gas 11-16-2011 04:49 AM

A. Del likes rum, as I've noticed. :laughks2:

Dark_Pixie 11-16-2011 02:17 PM

A. Everyone loves rum. :)

HammyTheSquirrel 11-16-2011 03:00 PM

A. It's probably the smartest idea. ;)

akamystic 11-16-2011 03:10 PM

C

I'll get my rum from the forum....lol

Captain Del 11-16-2011 04:06 PM

As you walk about the bar slyly swiping bottles from tables and the counter, one of the men who you steal rum from catches you in the act! He goes to swing for you, but misses and hits his captain instead - what ensues is a massive bar fight that engulfs the room.

What do you do?

A. Break a bottle and show everybody that they shouldn't come near, lest they be gutted!
B. Find Delmaria! Maybe he can get you outta there?
C. Get outside of the bar before you get hurt..... more!

HammyTheSquirrel 11-16-2011 07:18 PM

I pick C. It would possibly get me away from this "Delmaria Darkskull". :)

Dark_Pixie 11-16-2011 08:06 PM

A. >:D Time to show 'em what I'm made of.

WeirdBeard 11-16-2011 09:57 PM

C. Nuff said.

akamystic 11-16-2011 10:07 PM

A - Time to dance... Shall we?

Crestshot 11-16-2011 10:18 PM

I like dancing. A.

Captain Jorden 11-16-2011 11:33 PM

C. I just don't want anything.

CaptainMonkeys 11-16-2011 11:37 PM

I pick B, because Del is pretty scary...

Captain Del 11-16-2011 11:54 PM

We have a tie between C and A! Anybody care to cast a vote to break this?

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-16-2011 11:56 PM

A!!!

It's go time!

Captain Del 11-17-2011 12:17 AM

You crash a (empty) bottle of rum against the counter and grip the bottle nose in your hang, motioning it's sharps edges towards anybody that comes near you. Nobody dares make a move, but Delmaria comes up behind you and grabs you by the back of your shirt, dragging you on your heels back out of the tavern as they fighting resumes.

"That was incredibly stupid, you know." He rolls his eyes at you, whipping you around outside in to the night. You turn back to him as he continues to speak; "You have a strong heart, but you're mind is weak in comparison - maybe you should consider helping yourself to some new artillery before you think about running around picking fights."

What shall you do?

A. Sneak in through the window of a nearby blacksmith and swipe a cutlass for you to use... nobody will ever know, right?
B. Challenge a pirate you see on the street to a fist fight; winner gets to keep his sword!
C. Calmly walk in to a store and politely ask the clerk for a new sword. Sometimes pirates need to have manners too, yes?

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-17-2011 12:21 AM

A - Good weapons for free!

(( P.S. Del - grats on 2,700 posts!))

CaptainMonkeys 11-17-2011 02:19 AM

C. It seems like we're doing a lot of un-called for actions, savvy? ;)

The Stealthy Pirate 11-17-2011 02:27 AM

C. Seems reasonable.

Captain Del 11-17-2011 02:33 AM

The store clerk looks at you with an odd smirk on his face as he looks over your dingy clothes and the cuts all over your face. "I'm sorry chap, but seeing by the looks of your face, you must be one of those ruffians that like to get in to messes out there. A man like me giving a sword to somebody like you would only lead the good ole' Navy to come stomping on my doorstep, and that ain't happening!"

Having been denied your right to a new, shiny sword, what do you do?

A. Tell him about how you were attacked by a group of rabid animals in the forest, and need the sword to get back to your home. "Your baby depends on it!"
B. Demand the old man give you a good piece of weaponry! You have no right to be refused arms just because of how you look!
C. Walk around the store and mess up a few things to kindly convince him to rethink his decision.

Captain Jorden 11-17-2011 02:46 AM

I chose B! He has no right to do that!

Captain Gas 11-17-2011 03:14 AM

Ahem, B. Of course, while doing a bit of....negotiations. ;)

Crestshot 11-17-2011 03:38 AM

A is tempting (lying is always tempting, of course), but we'll go with B.

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-17-2011 04:03 AM

:( A. Wanna see where that goes...

Captain Del 11-17-2011 04:05 AM

The old man is stunned as you begin to confront him so rashly, and in a terrorized state he passes out in your hands and folds peacefully on the floor, where he begins to doze off. Looks like you get your luck of the draw.

What item shall you take to use throughout your journey?

A. A single-barrel pistol. It's not the best make, but it's better than the shabby one you have.
B. A crudely cut iron sword. It was a good edge to it, just don't count on it to saw through bone.
C. A handful of throwing knives. They're a little wobbly, but they can hit a target if you have good enough aim.

Crestshot 11-17-2011 04:06 AM

C. Throwing knives can be used in both long range and close combat.

Captain Gas 11-17-2011 04:21 AM

C. Might I explain how many times that has helped me out of tight situations?

The Skirata Clan 11-17-2011 04:29 AM

I will go with B.

Captain Del 11-17-2011 05:16 AM

You pick up the throwing knives, and as you step out of the store casually, Delmaria waits there, flipping a coin back and forth in his hand. YOu show him the knives, and he gives you a half sort-of smile. "They'll do, I suppose." he says. "Now, perhaps I'll let you in on a few things."

Delmaria goes on to explain his interest in a certain supply of Aztec gold in the possession of the British Navy, and that he would need your help in "investing" in the profits it brings. First, however, he's going to need a few maps to work off of.

What do you do?

A. Sneak behind a Navy soldier and take the maps supplied to him in his sack. Like they'll notice!
B. Break in to the cartographer's shop and steal a map of all the nearby British camps.
C. See if you can buy a few of the maps somewhere on the black market... for a good price, eh?

Captain Gas 11-17-2011 05:54 AM

B. You know I like breaking into anywhere.

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-17-2011 11:48 PM

A. Gotta mess with the navy, ya know! ;)

HammyTheSquirrel 11-18-2011 12:03 AM

b. because... :pirate51:

Captain Del 11-18-2011 01:28 AM

The map you manage to successfully smuggle out of the cartographer's shop indicates that the largest placement of Navy pirates are held up in the Thieve's Den, a small cave inside the depths of Tortuga, which is the most probable place where the treasure is being held up.

How do you plan to get there?

A. Cut through the swamps - it may be murky, but surely you can make your way through it quickly with a little elbow grease.
B. Make your way through the dense jungle. There may not be much space to work with, but it's better than not getting anywhere at all.
C. Head through the paths in the Tortugan Graveyard. There are a few skeletons and Navy guards lurking around, but you can outsmart them in no time!

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-18-2011 02:19 AM

C!!!

I don't want my fine garb to be drenched in swamp goo and eaten by forest nats!

HammyTheSquirrel 11-18-2011 03:25 AM

I say it should be C. The jungle is too full of deadly insects and snakes... and the swamp has too many diseases and 'gators. ;)

Captain Gas 11-18-2011 04:25 AM

C. Skeletons and Navy are easy.

Captain Del 11-18-2011 04:28 AM

Upon making your way through the graveyard you are ambushed by a small group of skeletons! What shall you do to defend yourself?

A. Use your throwing knives and try to take them all out while you can!
B. Throw yourself at them and try to scare them off!
C. Embrace the noblest of all pirate traditions.

HammyTheSquirrel 11-18-2011 04:39 AM

A. 'Cause dat's how I roll with meh knives...

The Skirata Clan 11-18-2011 07:17 AM

C.

Nothing like being traditional.

Tobias Daggercrash 11-18-2011 11:26 AM

A) Since Skeletons have a habit of not moving.

Dark_Pixie 11-18-2011 03:42 PM

C. Gotta keep with the traditions.

akamystic 11-18-2011 04:09 PM

A - All the way

WeirdBeard 11-18-2011 10:48 PM

A, kill 'em all.

The Stealthy Pirate 11-18-2011 11:17 PM

A, for the win! Dats how I roll!

Captain Del 11-19-2011 12:10 AM

You manage to take down three skeletons with a few well-placed daggers, but the remaining ones soon reach you and manage to overwhelm you, knocking you to the ground. Instead of eating you, they choose to be merciful - however, they still choose to steal a few of your knives, leaving you with only five to defend yourself - use them wisely.

You finally reach the mouth of the cave, but you see a group of Navy patrolmen guarding the only way in. What do you do?

A. Try to sneak past them and see how far you can get.
B. Knock out one of the closer guards and steal his uniform.
C. Use your knives to take out the nearby guards!

HammyTheSquirrel 11-19-2011 12:27 AM

B. I like acting like James Bond. ;)

andyspins 11-19-2011 02:25 AM

B! Lets not get rash now!

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-19-2011 02:40 AM

B.
'Nuff said.

Chalupa 11-19-2011 03:13 AM

B
Nothing like using strategy instead of strength!

Captain Gas 11-19-2011 03:22 AM

B. Da Lord of Gas has used that method before.

Tobias Daggercrash 11-19-2011 05:35 AM

B) *Insert Bond Theme Here* 007!

Captain Jorden 11-19-2011 05:44 AM

B................................................. ................

Captain Del 11-21-2011 01:00 PM

You slip in to the enemy's costume and waltz right past the first few guards without a second glance. However, one at the mouth of the cave just before you walk in stops you and asks you for your identification papers.

How do you respond?

A. "I must have left them in me other red pants!"
B. "I don't seem to have them.... must have been those bloody pirates!"
C. "Unfortunately I forget them in me quarters inside the cave - I was goin' to fetch them."

akamystic 11-21-2011 02:19 PM

B - Sounds good to me

andyspins 11-21-2011 02:24 PM

Ummmmm. C!

HammyTheSquirrel 11-21-2011 02:44 PM

C. seems pretty decent. ;)

Dark_Pixie 11-21-2011 02:57 PM

C... though I think I can guess what will happen...

Robert Ironcastle 11-22-2011 03:04 AM

I have a feeling for C.

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-23-2011 08:27 PM

C!
'Nuff said.

Captain Jason 11-23-2011 08:39 PM

I choose C... Good excuse :piratetongueor4:

Captain Del 11-24-2011 12:02 AM

The guard looks over you with a raised eyebrow and chatters a bit with his friend before he turns back to you. "Sounds fair enough; but we ain't letting you off that easy." The guard then motions you forward, and as you step down the path and in to the cave the two guards follow close behind.

As you turn in to a quiet, dark corridor, you can hear the two guards whispering gossip behind you as to if you look like a guard or not. What do you do?

A. Keep walking and hope for the best - if you don't say anything, they won't do anything.
B. Make a break for the rest of the caverns and hide as soon as you can!
C. Turn against them before they can call the other guards!

andyspins 11-24-2011 01:04 AM

C. I guess.

HammyTheSquirrel 11-24-2011 02:01 AM

C. ~_~ It's too awesome to leave out...

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-24-2011 02:10 AM

C. If it works in the movies, it works in Real Life..

Captain Del 11-24-2011 02:24 AM

Before they can get to their wits to them you grab a chunk of rock off the nearby wall and clunk the two over the head with it! However, one of them tries to draw their sword and swing at you, but misses and instead cuts a part of your disguise, revealing your pirate linens sitting underneath. It won't serve you much good from here on out.

As you throw the rock back in place you can hear a few guards from behind coming down to listen in on the ruckus. What do you do?

A. Scavenge the bodies and try to make a quick escape deeper in to the caves!
B. Dart behind a nearby rock formation and hide yourself!
C. Run like hell down the mines!

HammyTheSquirrel 11-24-2011 02:31 AM

C. Sounds a lot like something Jack Sparrow would do. ;)

Stolph 11-24-2011 03:04 AM

I vote for A. Get their loot pouches.

andyspins 11-24-2011 03:59 AM

C! Run like the wind!

Sith kinght pirate 11-24-2011 04:18 AM

I vote for C.

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-24-2011 04:27 AM

C. Run like ice cubes falling from the sky!!!

Captain Jason 11-24-2011 07:48 PM

I'm going with A. Can't be a pirate with nothing more than chunks of rocks.

Captain Del 11-24-2011 09:39 PM

You tumble down the mines recklessly, catching so much momentum with your legs that you can't stop! You barrel right in to a group of Navy soldiers, and the last thing you see before you black out is the flurry of red and white uniforms...

You wake up in a dark, dank hole of cobblestone with a single wall of iron bars giving way to a slightly larger room - a jail. You've been captured by the Navy soldiers and thrown in here for holding, until they can find out what to do with you. What do you do?

A. Sit there and whistle a quiet tune. Action has gotten you in to enough trouble.
B. Whisper around to see if anybody else is here.
C. Look around for a way out - a shoddy place like this has to have a few holes in here!

The Skirata Clan 11-24-2011 09:46 PM

C. No good just sitting and waiting.

HammyTheSquirrel 11-24-2011 10:37 PM

C. At least I'd have something to do... ;)

Captain Hector 11-24-2011 11:12 PM

Defiantly C. I love secret passages!

Captain Del 11-24-2011 11:20 PM

You look around your cell and only see a single stone out of place at the bottom of the wall, and pulling it away reveals a small hole just large enough to fit your arm in to. It seems very cramped, though, and much too dark to look in to...

What shall you do? (Only 2 choices)

A. Stick your arm in and feel around for something, anything!
B. Place the rock back in it's place. No need to stick your nose where it doesn't belong.

Captain Hector 11-24-2011 11:21 PM

A.
String? 'Nother rock outta place?

HammyTheSquirrel 11-25-2011 12:03 AM

A. I'd rather risk shoving my arm into a mysterious hole than not have any hope of escape. ~_~

Robert Ironcastle 11-25-2011 01:39 AM

A.It'll get maybe us somewhere...compared to the other option.

WeirdBeard 11-25-2011 01:53 AM

A! We arrrr! pirates!

Captain Del 11-25-2011 03:11 AM

You reluctantly stick your hand in to the hole, and after a minute of fishing around you grab a hold of a small, metal object. Pulling it out of the hole, you find you have managed to grab a single throwing knife, aged and cut by time. Some poor bloke must have left it here for you.

As you stand back up you can hear the footsteps of one of the guards walking around the jail, but he doesn't seem to take notice of you. What do you do?

A. Wait for him to pass your cell, then lash out from the bars and grab him with your knife!
B. Aim through the bars at the guard and see if you can take him down near one of the other prisoner's cells - maybe they'll share the keys with ya!
C. Wait for him to pass by your cell and quietly use your knife to remove the key chain from his belt.

WeirdBeard 11-25-2011 03:13 AM

A. Take some risks.

Stolph 11-25-2011 03:52 AM

A. Indeed, A.

CarribeanThunder 11-25-2011 05:02 AM

C: Wait for him to pass by your cell and quietly use your knife to remove the key chain from his belt.

HammyTheSquirrel 11-25-2011 05:13 AM

C. It just fits too well with the James Bond style...

Sith kinght pirate 11-25-2011 05:20 AM

I choose C.

Davy_Mcwrecker 11-25-2011 05:44 AM

C!
It is Jack Sparrow-like!

Captain Hector 11-25-2011 05:49 AM

A. Sharing ain't the pirate style, and neither is sneaking around..
