Best island?

Was writing a comment on a blog post, and began to wonder what the 'favourite island' is. I've put down all the main islands, plus the three old islands.

My favourite island would have to be Raven's Cove, as it's very atmospheric and a lot of fun. Haven't played the old islands, so I'm hoping for a Nostalgia Server. :P

HammyTheSquirrel 11-07-2011 06:56 PM

I only remember the Old Tortuga slightly... because it was the only island I ever got to see when I tried to play back in January 2008... But from what I remember, it was a pretty awesome island. ;) I voted for Old Tortuga.

Kale Grayhand 11-07-2011 07:33 PM

Raven's Cove.

Captain Del 11-07-2011 09:51 PM

There are very few things that have ever made me feel more magical in this game than the first time I ever looked out over the hill leading up to Fort Charles.

I voted Old Port Royal.

Deadpool 11-07-2011 10:18 PM

My all time favorite island is the Old PDF for one main reason... Cliff Diving. I do miss the old one, but the current one ain't half bad.

I remember having a special feeling when I first started playing. I enjoyed running through the old Port Royal, and going for the long run up to Fort Charles, and there was a place in the town I would stand and pose with a Cadet that never attacked...

J.T. 11-07-2011 11:39 PM

This is a hard decision to make.

I've seen all of these, and I like the Old Islands more than their current form. I do miss the Cadets walking the streets of Port Royal... but I'd have to say the Old Padres is what I miss the most. (including the caves and the old Las Pulgas)

Chalupa 11-08-2011 12:22 AM

Although I am perfectly fine with the new islands, I still have a heart for the old ones, and Tortuga was one of my favorite places to be.

Tiberius Fireskull 11-08-2011 01:10 AM

I remember little of the old Las Pulgas... but Old Padres del Fuego by far. Why? Cliff diving. You can on Raven's Cove, but the cliff of Padres was much higher. I also like the layout a bit more, with the town off on one side of the town with Gunner's Shack, Beckett's Quarry, and Fort Dundee on the other.

Old Port Royal is a close second. The Cadets patrolling were nice (why'd they take them out?) and like others have said, the hill leading to Fort Charles was quite amazing. I remember running up to Fort Charles as a level 2 and running in fear as I got chased by level 10 sergeants. Good times.

Chalupa 11-08-2011 02:17 AM

Lol, now that I think about it, if they had a weekend in memory of the old islands, that would be real fun, and the players from the older times of POTCO would probably feel the same way.

Godzillan 11-08-2011 02:18 AM

Raven's Cove!

Even though it's really scary.

Makeo 11-08-2011 02:59 AM

Old port royal was my fave old island, (I never went to PDF before I quit for like six months) the hill was my favorite place to go, good times. they should have kept fort charles that way. I spent most of my time sailing, not much on the islands. I miss the old sailing graphics...

Same here. Took a long break when the remodeled the islands. Didn't remember much, but i liked Old Tortuga

I don't have to say much about that devil, or Jolly-forsaken island. Doing the quest makes me jump to the shore near the boats. The most horror and so close to death times for any pirate would be nights in Raven's Cove. Only place to be safe at night- Crazy Ned. I never got a chance to see the old islands, however i wish to. I wish i could have seen these island's map buffer at the least now. Any chance you guys know how to still see these islands?

I voted for... the Boiling Bay aka Padres del Fuego. Closely behind is the devilish island of Raven's Cove.

Marry The Night 11-09-2011 04:38 AM

I voted for Raven's Cove. I love the island; it's probably my favorite. The music is somber, the setting is desolate and eerie... I especially love the island at night, when the music changes and you can hear the wails of the Rage Ghosts.

andyspins 11-09-2011 07:52 PM

I voted for new Tortuga, but old Port Royal is a close second!

Well said Marry.

Old Port Royal.By far.Why don't they make a server with old islands layout?I'd spend all day in there.

That's kind of like what I am saying, they should designate a few servers over one weekend to have the old maps of towns as well as the old maps of caves.

lerzba 11-10-2011 08:55 PM

French island, used to hang out all the time in the French islands 2-3 years ago with my old mates that all quit. Good memories :)

The Skirata Clan 11-10-2011 11:05 PM

I like Cuba because it's the only main Island left from the original set of islands.

I used to hang around privateering islands a lot back when they came out. good times, good times.

Meg McBones 11-11-2011 12:36 AM

I joined after the changes on the game so I kinda don't remember all the old islands....
I'm gonna vote for... New Port Royal..
And if I wanna see pictures of the old towns... where do I search for pictures? :D

Mr. Skiperdoo 11-11-2011 02:55 AM

Old Port Royal, no doubt in my mind.

Richard Keelhawk 11-11-2011 04:35 AM

Ravens Cove is my favorite. The atmosphere there and the scary moaning and the music.:130:

Chalupa 11-12-2011 05:21 AM

Yeah, does anyone have some screenshots from the old islands? My computer from that time no longer exists, lol.

Chalupa 11-12-2011 05:51 AM

Oh hey, looky here.

Spoiler for old islands:

Wow, these really make me want to travel back into the times of the old islands..

Captain Hector 11-12-2011 06:18 AM

Oh dear! i cannot see the pics, Chalupa! :(

Chalupa 11-12-2011 06:35 AM

Hmm, you can't??? that's weird I can see them. Maybe you're flash is old?

EDIT: Oh, it's because you have to be a member of the forums I took them off of.

Barnacle 11-12-2011 04:10 PM

Nice pics, Chalupa, they really should make servers with old versions of the main islands on them, I voted for old PR.

Chalupa 11-12-2011 04:34 PM

Ok, now you should be able to see the screenshots!

Dark_Pixie 11-12-2011 06:16 PM

I can see how they would be able to make an old island weekend...

Quote:

Pirates Be Warned!

We have thought that Jolly Roger has backed off for a while now, but his lying low is to do with something bigger!

This weekend, Jolly Roger will attack the Caribbean, but not in the way you might expect! Jolly will surround Tortuga, Port Royal and Padres Del Fuego with his ghostly voodoo mist, causing any pirate who sets foot on there to have a ghastly hallucination of what the islands once were!

Be careful out there, mates.

<insert weekend dates here>

...something like that. I think Disney could do a weekend like this, perhaps yearly. Unless they've deleted the old island backups...

Yes, that would be amazing.
