Calling All Testers - MORE WEEKEND UPDATES - Nov 4, 2011

Even more updates are now on our TEST Server, including additional bug fixes and the new Copperhead ship upgrade.

Updates:

  • Increased the amount of new materials plundered when sinking enemy ships
  • Fixed a crash when re-entering the Cannon Defense Mini-Game
  • Fixed the crash at the end of the Black Pearl Quest battle
  • Fixed an issue at the beginning of the Black Pearl Quest where Navy NPCs run off the ship
  • Fixed a bug that prevented teleporting at the end of Flagship battles
  • Fixed a bug with the jail door not opening during the Tutorial
  • Fixed a bug when exiting Smitty’s Jewelry Shop on Port Royal

Please take the helm of the upgraded ship types in Privateering (Ship v Ship), and provide us any balancing feedback when comparing the different upgraded ships in battle with one another.

We look forward to hearing from you, so log onto the Test Server now! Fair winds this weekend!

Remember to use the 'Send Feedback' button on the Options Menu ('Esc' or F7 key) to report any bugs you find, or by using the bug reporting form. New ship class or what? I don't understand... sorry..

Tiberius Fireskull 11-05-2011 02:11 AM

Wait, ship TYPE or upgrade? Either way, I'm very interested now. Can someone post screens please? I'm very curious to see what this looks like.... Also, if someone could post those stats, that would be very nice...

It's a ship upgrade, like Streamlined or Cargo.

Mason 11-05-2011 02:24 AM

It's a new type of upgrade. It appears to be a level four hull upgrade because there are no new upgrade choices. From what I've been told on test, it gives a 10% chance for Explosives. Unconfirmed, though.

I DO hope that is true. I would like to see my ship fire a chance of explosives!

Mason 11-05-2011 02:40 AM

It does appear to be true. However, it really slows down your ship.

Chalupa 11-05-2011 02:59 AM

Nice, explosive broadsides can definitely provide a helping hand :D

CharlesGoldburn 11-05-2011 05:44 AM

OH NO!! THIS COPPERHEAD IS GOING TO DESTROY SVS :( :( This isn't an upgrade I would want. Light sloops will go extinct because of that. :(

I can confirm that it is true.

It is not available after Cargo III, however. I'm not sure about Streamlined, though.

I think the fact that light class ships can't get upgrades would make it extinct anyway. Just my opinion though.

That and the fact that a brig with streamline can out run one!

I have a Frigate with Copperhead. We did some svs tonite and lets say if you get close to me I will fry ye! But I am slow and hard to turn.

A good svs skipper with a good crew and a streamline upgrade path could run circles around me.

Remember for each bonus in the new upgrades there is a minus. There is no such thing as an ultimate upgrade.

Ship customization gives ye the ability to make a ship to match ye sailing and sea combat style. So that in and of its self will make good cap'n a force to be reckoned with plundering or svs.

Question: does it fire a full explosive broadside 10% of the time or does it fire 10% explosive each broadside?

Dark_Pixie 11-05-2011 03:51 PM

I love how Disney are doing more regular updates for us. :) Really shows they do care.

akamystic 11-05-2011 03:52 PM

The explosive broadsides ROCK. Was on public ship that had upgrades. Copperhead.... Sweet.

Captain Del 11-05-2011 04:35 PM

Thank you to Disney for making my decisions about upgrading my ship harder and harder.

BDusel 11-05-2011 06:26 PM

I'm a little perturbed at the cost of every single upgrade. For those of us that don't have hours to play, it could literally take months to get a single enhancement.

10% explosive each broadside

Ice_Storm 11-05-2011 07:04 PM

Someone please check to see if Fast Switch/Cancel has been patched up in this November 4th Test update. Also check to see if Swift Foot I, II, and III potion speed glitch has been patched up. Please keep sending bug reports on these problems if they're aren't fixed. Once they patch these, it will make events like Moon Curse fair for everyone and PvP fair for all as well.

Or 20% if you get the Level Five upgrade.

Level 5? I thought the upgrades stopped at Level 4.

EDIT: Never mind that, I found it. I think I'll get Copperhead II instead of Skull & Bones for my war brig...

BDusel 11-05-2011 10:39 PM

Wow, Disney does not like anything negative! Posted a comment on the POTCO site and the mods banned it....despite the fact it complimented them AND offered feedback politely.

Jamesvsthekraken 11-05-2011 11:20 PM

I agree. I reported a bug there about the clothing being bugged and it didn't get posted.

I sailed my Copperhead Frigate for several hours. The most explosives I landed on one broadside was 4 out of the total 12. I sank a War Brig with Firestorm hull that had no hull armor, but full health in that salvo. It was impressive.

I average at least one explosive fired one out of every five broadsides. I will have this hull on one my svs pirates war frigates, and a war sloop. Can not wait!

ruisen2000 11-06-2011 06:01 PM

How much more damage does the explosives do?
And it looks like War Frigates are going to be VERY powerful in SVS with copperhead. Can't wait to see this go live. It should make them more balanced against the War sloops.

I think the explosive broadside damage will probably relate to how many skill points you have on Explosive Shots on the Cannon. This is just what I THINK it's power will be.

Captain Del 11-06-2011 06:37 PM

Considering how the amount of points you have in round shot can affect Broadsides, I would suspect that having skill points in Explosives/Fury/Etc. would affect the upgrade you have.

Question to testers with Copperhead: How does the range of the explosives work, exactly? Do they travel the same distance as the regular broadside shots?

As to the first part on damage my pirate with it does about 3k-4k per hit, and 10k on open fire. He does have max explosives. I will need to have someone sail her with no points in explosives to test this.

.......and Del it has the same range as a regular broadside salvo.

Now that's what I call impressive. I do hope that this goes live after all the major bugs are fixed.

Don't you think it would make the game a little unbalanced for the enemies knowing that we deal more damage with just broadsides alone to take out a lv. 40 War Galleon ship with 1 round of shots?

I thought they would give enemy ships upgrades too.....

I guess I was wrong... again.

Ice_Storm 11-06-2011 09:47 PM

"Fast Switch" and Swift Foot Potion speed glitch still works on the current test patch. I hope they do not neglect these issues for the live patch.

That means more waiting time for player fairness.

MacIronhawk 11-07-2011 03:35 AM

I like these frequent updates. When this hits live people are going to be very happy. At least the ships at sea will be a lot more colorful.

It wont sink a lvl 40 warship each and every time. Maybe every third or so on open fire with max explosives. Where it shines is hunters and svs.

Kat Five Knives 11-07-2011 01:09 PM

This is definitely going to make things interesting for SVS.

I honestly completely forgot about the hunters :/.

I see now... it's perfect against the hunters.

Makeo 11-07-2011 11:14 PM

UGH FINALLY THOSE ANNOYING SVS LIGHT SLOOPS WILL GET A TASTE OF THEY'RE OWN MEDICINE.
I think most svsers (including me) will be glad to see them go extinct. Its about time. Move aside light sloops, war brigs are here to stay :D
this upgrade will go perfect on war brigs, svs will be changed forever. it will also be perfect for hunters (my main activity)

Any upgrade to PvP-related activities, that also include re-balancing + making it fair, are always a + in my book.

Glad to see SvS getting changes :D

Is this what the game looks in now with the upgraded content? OR is this a photoshop pic?

I have barely any image-editing skills. The screenshot I posted is of my own ship -- it's real. The hull, however, is glitched; it looks like the basic hull. That should be fixed soon.

Chalupa 11-10-2011 01:12 AM

Can someone post all the costs of upgrades?
