Policies

We are still working on a different set of policies for PiratesOnlineForums.com and MapleStoryStreet.com since they will be more PG or T as per their games. Most policies will remain the same or slightly altered from those we've been using on ToonTownCentral.com and VMKForums.com. We'll have them ready to post up shortly. Here's a new policy that is going to be applied across all of Nick's forums.

"Hacker Discussions" - Any discussion of hackers, except to say that you've been hacked, will be removed from the forums. This includes admission of hacking, accusations of others being hackers (Naming Names/Flaming), sharing of hacking programs (3rd party programs), and altering original game files with the intent to alter original game playabilities. Inherent bugs and/or glitches of games will still be allowed to be discussed. Most programs these days have bugs or defects and it is understandable to discuss these types of gaming experiences. There's a large difference between hacking a game and exploiting a glitch inherent in a game. Anyone caught hacking a game will find their account suspended due to breaking the policies of the game provider. Doing a glitch can hardly be the fault of the player as these will occur accidental to many players or should be fixed by the game provider.

You're obviously new around our forums. I created that avatar to look just like that. It's suppose to depicture a Klingon warrior from Star Trek. Since Klingons are very much like pirates in space, I've decided to keep the same avatar that I use on all of Nick's forums.

JohnnyGunflint 03-22-2007 04:19 PM

Yup, don't mess around with the Klingons!

Anyways, Batleth, so will all policies be posted here as time grows?

I'll be posting new or altered policies here as we finish them up. At least, till we have them all done and ready to add to the wiki like the other policy rules on the other forums. More work than we originally thought changing them from G to PG..lol

Feel free to post questions or comment here on them.

Btw, we dropped the rep policies. Felt most of it was already covered in the other policies. I doubt we'll use rep or at least, not for very long anymore so no need to be so picky on them now.

I have a question. I've noticed quite a few words that could be considered "Bad Words". Such as the A word and a few others.
All I'm wondering is if those words will be allowed on this forum. Because I've noticed a few Arcade games have a few of those words in the discretion.

Batleth 03-24-2007 06:19 PM

Reminder!

Please, don't post personal pics of yourself. We're not changing that policy. I've removed a few already off of some user's profiles. I haven't looked at the userpages yet, but most people tend to post them there. This is your reminder before any mod/admin has to send out any warnings.

If you think it's a bad word / game, don't hesitate to PM a site admin / mod. They will give you an answer, even if the game is still OK. Yeah... Batleth scares me too {{;-) but he is not all that bad when it comes to giving help! ;)

We don't want to fill the forums with offensive language.

Games are somewhat different. For one, the words are not there as a response to what anyone has said, nor is a response to the words in games expected, or even possible.
Also, a lot of games are too good to exclude just because of some mildly offensive language.

Thanks this is good.

Coolness, thank you for posting the new
policies. Will you continue to post new
policies here? In that case, I will subscribe
to this thread by mail, just to stay on top
of things.

This should answer your question, crimsonDOOM.

Hah I'm so smart. :) I read it, but didn't
pay any attention to the first post.
Silly me.

Due to POTCO finally official setting a rating for the game, we'll be following their rating system. We had planned on being a PG-13 rated site but due to this change, we'll now be a PG rated site.

Everyone 10 & up - Alcohol Reference, Stimulated Gambling, Violence

Batleth 07-22-2007 07:10 AM

New Policy

"English Only" - The moderators/administrators and other users must be able to read and comprehend your posts. To ensure this, we ask that everyone posts in English. All mods/admins are able to read and write in English. POTCO and Global MapleStory are primarily English game and therefore setting a common grounds of communication so there is little reason to be writing in other languages on these forums. This applies to PMs to mods/admins as well as other areas of these forums. The only exception is you may also write in other languages to your friends in PM.

Batleth 08-28-2007 02:43 AM

Announcements added above each forum directing everyone to our policies. The policies themselves are still being worked on, but mostly done.

So does this mean that you won't be creating new forums for foreign people if the game comes out global??

Not at all. ToonTown Online by Disney has several servers in other countries besides the U.S. We have forums for each of those severs on ToonTownCentral.com and they can speak their native tongue within those forums. If and when POTCO goes international, we'll be create forums for those different servers as well. We'll just have to wait and see how wide spread they decide to take POTCO.

We do prefer everyone to type in English on the main forums. If you can find the word in an English dictionary, which really includes quite a few words from other languages these days, then you can use it on post. We're not going to be too strict on this, but whole posts in a language that none of our moderators can read can cause problems for us.
