Well, we decided at the meeting on three races.

Solo Race
Relay Race
Two Part Race (1 part land, 1 part sea. Guess you could call it a biathalon.)

We're going to take a poll after our event, and whichever one wins is what we'll go with. It's best that we start discussions now though. ^^

So, Discuss!

Chris, we can't do ALL 3. Theres no way to have a 2 part solo relay. XD

That would be...akward...:vshocked: lol...With the solo race...can you have teams? And why don't we make it a rule not to use any special things...like ram for a short burst or the speed thingy for...speed. Just go regularly.:vhuh:

Actually, I'll think about that.

No matter which one we do, we should have people as check points, so we know they aren't skipping, or cheating :).

Also, if we do check points with people, we send a pm to you (or who ever will be incharge of it), so that person can keep a list.

What would be the prizes, if it's not too early to discuss it ;) lol.

Well, as long as you all will keep me away from the casino we'll do cash prizes. ^^

Well, if ye need cash, if I have any left that is ;). I'll be happy to give some to the winnes lol. I don't play the casino, but it adds up when you log in everyday, I haven't found out the other ways to get them lol. If I have, I haven't noticed lol.

lol as i mentioned if in any future events we need a prize i dont play in the casino so we could give away that money

Also, we can do what I've mentioned in the other thread, we could do sigs, that only the winners can have.

I think that the sigs for February's contest, should be a surprise, and we shouldn't tell them about it.

Arg! I just forgot that POF hit the 5,000 mark, some people won't have sigs, so how about avatars? IF and ONLY if, the already have sigs. If one person doesn't have sigs, we'd have to do avatars, but most people have sigs atm. But just to make sure, we should have both for this contest :), and avatars the other contests :).

We can still give sigs out, becuase if they do like they do at TTC (and it's the same people, so 99.9999999...% chance), they'll allow *fake* sigs. I'll make a sig and an avatar, how's that. ^^

people might create there own but i dont think POF is as "polluted" so to speak as others almost everyone here is honest i hope lol

Follows the guidelines of a sig, same appearance as a sig, but you have to paste it in each post yourself. ^^

Not if you put it somewhere besides the gallery. That's what I do at TTC. ^^

Which is why I say go with the avatars, if at least one of the three winners don't have a signature.

I actually think you would get a better response with a really cool avatar. The sigs vary so much that having a group of avatars that mean something would probably generate a lot of interest/excitement.

I'll probably go with the avvies now that we have another vote on it, because everyone seems to agree on that. ^^

I say go with the avvies, though, I have no real say in anything these days...

You're event staff. Under BD, SB, and me you have top say in things. ^^

I would go with the avatars, everyone has access to one and in my opinion represents the person.

As for the race, I would like to see it as a team race. Teamwork is important in game play and it would be interesting to see what would happen if we did this. As for making the teams, I have to think about that, maybe have people sign up first and then have them decide who to be with.

Now I know you couldn't hear us at the meeting, that's what I suggested. We could've been done earlier than we were if Captain Sea and me hadn't sit there and discussed it for half an hour. ^^

Like I said in the meeting, team events almost ALWAYS go bad. Here's a few of my points:

• People May Not Want To Be On A Team Making Them Mad If They Have To Be On One.
• What If Nobody Wants To Be On Their Team Due To Notoreity Level, Weapon Levles, Etc.?
• What If They Get Mad At Each Other Or Blame Each Other Because They Lost? It Would Ruin Their Friendship.
• If We Didn't Give Them A Choice, Then They Would Not Know We Gave The Option, Therefore, Being Fair For All.
• What If Somebody Isn't As Good As Another, The Other Teamates May Take Over, Or Blame Them For EVERYTHING.

These are just a few of the problems that have happened in the past with team events. VMK stopped doing team contests/competitions, because people lost friends, and some quit VMK. I've lost a friend in a team competition, and almost lost two. I don't think it would be fair to have team contest/competition. What if they want to be a one person team? Voting, is a way of deciding this, but it wouldn't be fair to the other people if they didn't want teams. Even if they can still be a one person team on a team race, it doesn't seem fair that they have to do the entire thing, while others don't.

Yes, team building is important in ANY game, but there's limits. Team events on a lot of games, usually go badly. There are other ways to work with people, but in my opinion, team events aren't a very good way of doing/teaching it.

Just a few of my points, that I tried to address in the meeting :). I was pointing out facts, and my opinions, on the idea, and that's what meetings are for :) LOL.

Simple, we give an option of two races, a solo first and a team later. ^^

I finally worked out the issue, that way both sides can have their way. Now if you'll excuse me I need to make sure someone

Yes, if we do both, we're still doing a team battle lol.

I've gave me warning, and if it happens, ye can't blame me. I've had to many experiences with team events.

You shouldn't be talking bad about a person anyway on POF, if you do, people do have the right to give you bad rep lol.

I'll make sure that if a team signs up they know the risks, but unless we just have a landslide solo win, we'll do both. ^^

Don't plan to say a word about em, just make sure they don't say anything 'bout me. I'll PM you why, but I don't disrespect people in any way.

I see. For some reason I can't hear ANYTHING at the meetings because of the strange and odd plus sign in the chat box. I still can't figure out whether or not it has to be on or off for me to hear you guys.

Anyway, interesting points. I guess we'll have to find a way to spice up a regular relay race. Just racing around may not be appealing to people.

We can always "spice things up", if that's what they choose, I have a few ideas, but I'm working out the bad spots :).

well you could do a race where u start say at padres go around kingshead sail to cuba go behind royal the sail to tortuga and done

Can't decide on how we'll do it until we pick which one we're doing, so I'm gonna close the thread until Sunday afternoon. ^^

The poll is up, but instead of what type of race its whether we should do an editing contest or a sloop-race. So, keep discussing the boats and if editing does win I'll explain my plans of doing this. ^^

It looks like racing will win, so here are my proposed racing plans. Note that Plan B is an add on to plan A. ^^

Route A: Short, simple, nice. Good for racers of all types.
Route B: More advanced course. Long, adventerous, and full of peril. Good for an exciting time.

GREAT. I say use plan B and allow full sail. And maybe I could go as "referee" and I could follow everyone and tell you who has dropped out of the race, what do you think?

I'd prefer plan A myself, or do two races. Oh, and instead of following people were going to have checkpoints with people on large boats. ^^

OT: How do you like the new official logo? It's in my signature.

I came. I saw. I LOVED it. And two races would be interesting...But seing as I don't have a larger boat...

EDIT: Why don't we do something like 2 laps? That would be awesome!

Of course, that's a sketch of the races. Teams would be an option at their own risk, and to be fair each race would pay the same turnout. ^^

Interesting, of course, we'll have to get the rules in there later on :). Also, to let you know in advance, I can probably help with that Staturday one, but probably not the Sunday one. What are the dates and times?

Don't worry larkija, I don't plan on that idea ever again... and if we do it, then I have a plan that way it's easy to fix if someone isn't there. ^^
