Name Glitch
Ahoy!
I am new, so many of you may not know me. For those of you that do, and are in the Pixie Pyrate Guild, my name has an issue. I originally requested my pirate name to be Mia Lightning. It came out as Mialightning. I now know for good reason. The name Mia is not a part of the pirate dictionary! Anyone who uses the word Mia in a 'post', all of it will not go through. So with that, if you ever have said "hi Mia" and I did not respond, it is because I did not see it. I contacted the 'never council' as we pixies call them, and they said it might be easier to change my name before Mia will be added. And you know how that goes..... So with that, the wonderful Chronos gave me the nickname Mail, and it seems to be catching on. Thanks for reading all! |
Hi Mail! Good to see you again. Up for looting again this week?
|
I'm not sure if the name came out wrong because of the word in the dictionary. Usually if there is an 'offensive' word in the name the whole name wouldn't be accepted. If you don't mind me asking, are you 100% sure that you typed the name correctly? The reason I ask this is because I haven't heard of Disney changing what the player has typed.
Now about the word Mia being blocked... I wonder why added that to the blacklist. Perhaps Disney thought it would be used instead of an offensive word, but I can't think of what it might be used instead of. I like your nickname, and how you're working with it. I also had a name nightmare, with my pirate (who also happens to be a Pixie) of the name Breeze O'Luck. Her name would not get accepted, and when I told Live Chat about it they changed it for me, but instead of the apostrophe in the name, she had four rectangles that you often get when you have an error in a document. It did get better though, and if Mia's name has been changed by an error on Disney's part, you have the right to get it changed to the way you want it. Hope to meet you in the Caribbean real soon! I have a different Breeze O'Luck now (I deleted the one I mentioned above and remade her on my basic account), and I'm going to get her into Pixie Pyrates once more. :) |
Yes we worked over an hour to try to get the name to go through. Mialightning goes through, but not just Mia. That is how they entered the name instead of asking me to choose another. People know me as Mia in the Hollow, so of course they use that name wthout the lightning part. lol
We shall see, but Mail is how it goes for now. Of course Robert! I will always plunder with you! |
DP, that's cool! I tried to give one of my Pirate's names a Rectangle/block thing, but it said it wouldn't let me. :/

i think Chronos was the first to discover it, although it took me awhile to figure out what he meant once when someone asked why he said Mail and he said the game wouldn't let him type her real name. :mybadki6:
Mia and i talked with Stormy about it, and we'd worked out that if you typed something like: a Mail b Mia c Lightning you'd see lines a and c but not b. the only guess we had is that they might not be looking at it as offensive, but as the acronym MIA (Missing In Action). they might not want any of that kind of discussion in game, so they block any line that contains it entirely. i just wish they'd let you know the entire line was blocked, because it doesn't even show up in italic or red. :mybadki6: sail with you later! :sailr: Littlebell |
I always wondered why people called you Mail, now I know.:laughks2:
I know what you mean by wanting the same name as your fairy, I wanted my priate to be named Twilight (you can write that in pirates), but it was not approved. So I talked to someone in live chat and they said I could not use that name because it was copyrighted being the name of a popular movie series. When I chose the name for my pixie I have never ever heard of the series, I just liked the named. Most people you know me still call me Twilight or Twill in pirates. |
Mia comes through for me.... ?

Did you test that with another? Because congratulations if you did and it worked. None of my guild are able to. |
If you have open chat... then maybe it's that strange thing that affects the chat when there are speedchat plus members around... @_@
|
On open chat you should see it in italics. If you have speedchat it would be a "arr' or "garr".
|
Or it might not make the whole message go through. Is that right?

EDIT: Here's a Pic of my bubble that say Mia: http://www.imageurlhost.com/images/y...8ada_thumb.jpg ~Davy_Mcwrecker |
Pretty much everyone in my guild has the open chat, where you can read everything. (Well except for spamming.) When you send a note to a person such as, "Ahoy Mia how is your day". Nothing goes through. No one sees it. Only the person who sent it.
People would say hello to me and I would never get it. In turn they thought I might be ignoring them, and I thought they never said hi. lol But none of this matters anymore anyway because my guildie's call me Mail or Mial now. :skull: |
I see. I said Mama Mia in guild chat, so it wouldn't be taken as a name, and it still didn't come through. You should E-Mail Disney and ask for Mia to be approved. They may or may not approve. Make sure your guildies E-Mail them to approve Mia, too!

I wonder why the word is in the dictionary if it won't go through, no matter what words you put it with. I doubt this is going to change anytime soon...
|
Its the whole message Dark Pixie.
Davy I will try just Mia with others around tonight and see if they can read it. I can read it on my end, but no one else can see it if I send a note saying something like "I am Mia". Nothing goes through to their end. Does that make sense? If the word MIA is in the sentence none of the message goes though. Only the person who is sending it can read it. Help me out here, Little and Luckie!!!! AHHHHH! |
