Launch Your Way Into Pirates Online - July 22, 2011

Launch Your Way Into Pirates Online July 22, 2011 Up to now there were two ways to play Pirates of the Caribbean Online – either through a web browser window or by actually launching the game from your very own desktop. Overwhelmingly, you Pirates have let us know your strong preference for playing through the launcher, so very soon Pirates Online will be moving back to playing through the desktop launcher only. If you currently play through the browser version, get a head start by downloading the Pirates Online Launcher today: PC version
MAC version
Once the install is complete, the Pirates Online launcher automatically appears on your desktop. Just click on it to play! This exciting change in how you play Pirates of the Caribbean Online is coming very soon! |
... I guess this is what you get when you complain about the launcher malfunctioning.
But am I the only person that doesn't like this, at all? Now I cant listen to music or chat via the wiki or do anything else while playing the game (one of the things my Windows 7 is convenient for). And does it say... download the Toontown launcher for PC? I hate to say it, but this horrendously displays how undedicated D is to the fans. TAKING AWAY CONTENT? SERIOUSLY? And it gives us the wrong name for the PC lancher? Did ANYONE proofread this? Who thought this was a good idea? |
Cool.... I guess.
|
:/ I'm half and half on this......
I'm glad that they are going all launcher, because nowall my friends that play through browser wont have as much lag, but I'm sad, because now When they update, I cant get on 2 pirates at once... :( |
LOL! The funny thing is they were going to Browser only because it was easier to maintain. But then they realized how many different types of browser that their community used. This huge variety meant a lot more work to keep the game compatible with each browser. Let’s see… 2 Common operating systems with moderate updates, or about 4 internet browsers that are updated more often. I’m just glad they realized in time that the Launcher, although requires a little more maintenance, is easier and more efficient to use. I hope we can expect updates that will improve the launcher; i.e. Runtime Error, and connection issues.

Disney listened to pirate feedback on this in making their decision.
|
Hallelujah! I hate the browser version. Glad they've decided to keep the launcher.

My brother uses Browser. you can have 2 pirates without browser, aye. Ik how.
|
I think this was a good decision for various reasons. I know they probably got tired of dealing with the browser support issues.
|
Toontown went to Launcher only too :D
|
I'm glad that they decided to put back the Launcher, but I don't see why they'll take away the browser version. Never hurts to have both, after all. And now you need two computers to play with two pirates. I personally don't mind this change, as I rarely double pirate, but I simply don't see the point in going all Launcher. Doesn't hurt to have both.

I am glad they are going to the launcher.

What do you mean by that davy? because I was able to play 2 pirates on the same computer long before the browser mode was made..... |

However, it was on 2 different, linked accounts. |
:pirate2: cool :pirate2:
|
Nice! :p
Ever since i had to give up the game and the launcher three and a half years ago (because of crazy lag. o.O), i've been waiting to use the launcher... well at least since i started back up in September 2010. ;) Thanks, POTCO Team!!! |

Simply start up your first account with the launcher, then go into the Task Manager. End the process entitled "Launcher1.exe." After that, you should be able to open the launcher a second time, and log in to a second account on the same computer. |
Ugh, I really dislike the launcher. It's awkward, and big, and you can't switch away from it easily. What a disappointment.

Ah, thanks Del. That makes it a lot better. :)

About time if you ask me, I can never run the browser. :bookishfj7: :piratewheelgo2: :peopirate07bouncele

I'm thrilled - I never really liked playing through the web. |
I wonder why most of the comments are celebrating - after all, Disney is taking away a feature. For the people who play on launcher already, nothing's really changing.
|
I MUCH prefer browser :(, sigh.
EDIT:Wait! For all the people who like browser, you can make launcher like it! Just go into options and select "Windowed" and then press "Save" and you have the best of both! |
Behind the curtains there were many technical issues with the browser version which caused not only issues for the end user but for Disney support. Moreover, I think from their perspective the lag issues should be less of an issue. Now they have 1 interface to watch over and improve upon.
|
Oh no! I had the launcher all along. used both, launcher and browser.
Why not leave it both ways!?!?!? User's preference! I prefer the launcher but want the browser still available. bad move in my opinion. |
Ahh!!! They got rid of the Browser!!!! NO!!!!!!! Now I can't play until they find the problem with my launcher! :schrift003: :sign0148: :psmiley27:

Uh... that's the biggest problem. They don't know yet. o.O It just loads to the main page of the launcher where you log in... then it closes within a second of it being loaded. @_____._____@ Although POTCO is already on it. ;)
EDIT: How did I not realize this?!?!? It was in compatibility with Windows 2000. @_@ |
