What do ye think of Scoundrel of the Seas?

Well, now that Scoundrel of the Seas has officially arrived it's time to ask: what do the fans think of it?

Personally I think it's amazing, what say ye?

katbluedog 06-29-2011 07:35 PM

Amazing update! It is so much to attack the Bounty Hunters with friends. I think the voice is Gibbs sorta. I still love this update.

SEAKING23 06-29-2011 08:01 PM

Probably one of the best, if not THE best update in POTCO history. Ships aren't cargo farmers anymore! And whats even better is that they made this off a suggestion that was posted here on POF by yours truly.
THANK YOU POTCO STAFF!

The Stealthy Pirate 06-29-2011 08:14 PM

Really good update!!!!!!!

The Skirata Clan 06-29-2011 08:26 PM

It's ok at best, but there's not many choices in the poll. It's either good or the worst ever. A game addition just for the sake of adding stuff is not that great of thing. I am of the firm belief that an addition must move the game towards something bigger and better. Think of the game as Legos or Lincoln Logs. You add a piece to make something not just for the sake of adding pieces.

The problem is on my previous poll, almost everybody selected the same option in the poll

and I want this poll to be about this single update. Not whether Disney should add more updates.

I think its a good addition to the game but, it might get annoying if your trying to get all royals.

The Skirata Clan 06-29-2011 09:41 PM

MA, where did the second quote came from?

I agree with TSC. :piratear:

Mr. Bilgemart:

Once the Hunters and Warships come after you, it is hard to do regular plundering. At that point though, chances are your cargo is full and you are going for full royals. The Bounty Hunters, from what I've seen, seem to ONLY give Royal Chests. So now its not harder to get them, its just a different tactic that's needed.

Back on topic, I said that this is a good improvement. Its really good and I like and and all that, but I think that this isn't it... looking at the hunter ships, I can tell that ship customization and new ships is near. I bet you that that update is going to follow this one.

That was one of the options from my poll about the QAR, it was the option 21 out of 38 people chose last time. I wanted peoples opinions on this particular update, and not whether they should add more updates so I chose to not include it in this poll.

finn 06-29-2011 11:41 PM

i dont sail much... so i did it a little bit yesterday with my guild but i dont think im doing it unless im with my guild... but im glad they brought fun to sailing again maybe ill do my quests now...

CaptainKiowa 06-30-2011 12:41 AM

I love this addition to the game, even though it isn't very major. It adds more challenge to sailing which was getting a little repetitive, hopefully well get some stronger ships to combat these powerful bounty hunters :3

MacIronhawk 06-30-2011 02:30 AM

I see this update as one of many of the updates to ship combat.

We've had SvS, Queen Anne's revenge, Navy and EITC SOTL fleets and now we have Hunter ships. Besides SvS, this IS the biggest Ship Combat update/upgrade we've seen in a long time. There are a variety of Hunter ships that go after you which make this a good update for higher level players and encourages crew battles at sea.

While ship battles don't seem to have the amount of replay value as land battles, this is a step in the right direction. I do see more similar updates like this in the future, only having to deal with Skeleton ships and flags ships. We already have living ships going after us, the next best thing is the undead. Not to mention, there is a logo in the files of a Skeleton skull with a purple hat which is something like logo_flag_evil. I see this as the next update in the game but there's no way to actually tell.

POTCO is moving forward slowly and this is one of my favorite Ship combat updates. It definitely gives you something to look forward to when you're at sea.

Slow, but sure steps, mate. I agree with ya all the way. You have SvS, where people can fight each other without crews, and you have ships that come and get ya.

This is my second favorite update, after Ravens Cove.

Dark_Pixie 06-30-2011 01:50 PM

I do not like this update. Me and my friend were trying to loot, and we couldn't help but gain those levels. Rich Fireskull joined (thanks mate), and we fought a bounty hunter. We went away from enemies to repair, and right as we are repairing a bounty hunter shows up and sinks us. It would be more worthwhile if we got skull chests from the bounty hunter, as I am maxed on gold. This update makes it extremely difficult to level up. At least it resets when you dock. I think Pirates was fine the way it was.

I think Disney should add an option to turn off the leveling, so some of us can loot in peace.

Captain Redhorn 07-01-2011 02:08 PM

I like it, but I had a TON of technical errors when it came out.

I hope so! And I like the update, for once it makes the game harder instead of easier.:HO4thFireworks:[

Isn't a challenge a GOOD thing? Nobody enjoys leveling anyways, mate. It's long and boring. :explotar2jr: Besides, bounty hunters give great rep. It makes leveling easier, and more challenging. If the game goes back to where it was, as the high sea's as a push over then all we will achieve is going back to long, boring ours on the sea's and public captains who don't know starboard from port.

And TS, about updates making building blocks: This update makes perfect sense. I mean, you have the SOT and the QAR, witch are O.K updates, leading up to this great update. For all you know, it will lead to ship customization.

Dark_Pixie 07-02-2011 08:14 PM

I've decided that the update isn't as bad as I'd thought. Some things do need tweaking, though. And you can agree with my final statement,

Aye?

(3000th post. Happy, Pixie?)

Today I was sailing on my War Frigate with a full crew. We were REALLY powerful, firing all types of cannon ammo. We were sinking just about every ship in sight and our Health had barely dropped. We were well into Level 3 Scoundrel when along comes the Vengence and her explosives. Our health was nearly full and our sides had about 3/4 of their strength. Considering we had such a strong crew, I figured we could easily take them down. Instead, the Vengence hits us several times with her OP'd explosives, tears through our hull, and sinks us and our cargo of 13 royals, 1 Treasure Chest, and 2 pouches.

Where am I going with this? I like this update. With a good crew, you can do almost anything. I love to sail and take these ships down, but I have a small problem. When I have a full crew and a ship with almost full health, and one bounty hunter sinks us with explosive broadsides, I think something is wrong. I really would like to see the power on their explosives toned down a bit. I really hate it when I have amazing cargo and then one ship sends it all down the drain. I am not saying that I think the ships as a whole are overpowered. I just really am annoyed with the ones that are using explosives, because combined with the fact that these ships have incredible hull power, it makes for a rather unfair fight.

POTCO, my message to you: Please weaken the explosives a bit on the hunters and warships. I seriously think that they are overpowered.

Am I the only person that doesn't understand this update? Lol. Would someone kindly explain?

Aye?

Why? All you'll achieve is more failed public captains, and people who level up so quickly the game gets boring for them in 3 months, because all they see to it is an endless slaughter of NPC's.

I meant toggling on and off, so it won't be turned off permanently.

I suppose I could level by just fighting skeleton ships, as they don't seem to bring up the threat levels.

Mr. Awesome 07-03-2011 06:23 PM

Aye. Also, I'm I the only one to notice the increased Death Omen spawn rate? There used to be one by Kingshead, but yesterday there was four.

Dark_Pixie 07-03-2011 08:30 PM

Wow! I'll have to check that out. :) I love fighting Death Omens.

Captain Jason 07-03-2011 11:15 PM

I really enjoy it, but I fell like it'll just get annoying after awhile. Anyway, I said it was a good improvement. Not amazing, but still fun.
