Founding Month
'twas July 31st, 2009. Billy and I had left a guild to create another. We weren't sure what we would do with it. We just wanted to run our own. We had dreams of becoming great leaders, of become Caribbean legends! We thought we could do it. The guild started off a bit rough. It was called Pirate Guild 488887. We decided to name the guild Shadow Sorcerors. We wanted Shadow in the name, you see, and we were quite fond of our dolls and staffs, so we decided to call ourselves Sorcerors, just spelled differently from the actual word, Sorcerers. The guild was simple at first. Not very active though. It was hard in the early days, but after a while, very slowly, it became great. It became the best guild in the Caribbean. During the journey, you and I had to go through hardships and friendships, love and hate, drama and laughter, but we got here. We made it. It is now closing on two years since Billy and I sat on Cuba and made that guild. It has changed so much, I can't even name everything. But one thing is for certain. It became one of the best guilds in the Caribbean http://i51.tinypic.com/4l2aah.jpg (Thanks Crestshot!) When I founded Shadow Sorcerors, I had no idea that it would end up like this. Who knew that I would meet all you new people? Who knew that we would end up being good enough to get this amazing subforum here? Who knew that we would become as close as brothers and sisters? Who knew that we would be a guild to stand the test of time? I can tell you now, I did not, but I'm glad we did. And to celebrate our founding, we are going to be having a month long event, known simply as our Founding Month. Every week will have a different theme to it, none of them being the same. I assure you, there will not be a time when you are bored, except for when you are not online! Week 1: Recruitment Week From Friday, July 1st to Saturday, July 9th (the first week of July), we will be going on a campaign to see if we can really do some growing! We are a guild who doesn't do very much open recruiting, but I believe that if we do it just a bit, it can benefit us in both Quality and Quantity. EVERYONE can participate, even if you are a member! As a member, you can ask your friends if they want to join our guild, and then if they say yes, you can have a veteran or officer invite them in. Some rules for recruiting that I have, so that it doesn't turn into chaos: First of all, do NOT invite people randomly! This is the worst way to recruit, from my experience. Occasionally you'll get someone good, but most of the time it will get you someone who doesn't want to be involved with the guild and will usually just sink into a corner and leave the guild later. Try as best you can to actually get to know the person a bit before inviting them. They can be your friend, or someone you got to know while sailing or looting. Just make sure that you know this person a bit. I will go into more detail about how to recruit and some good advice a bit later, when the event comes up. Next, please avoid Abassa Tortuga. We all know what kind of people dwell there. Usually not the nicest. I shouldn't need to elaborate further. Also, I'd prefer that you invited people that were unlimited access, above level 10ish. This is not because I want us to discriminate against low levels or basics, but merely because from my experience, people that are lower levels or basic access do not always stay very active. But, if you do meet someone who you think will make a good addition to our guild, who is a lower level or is basic, feel free to invite them. This is mainly to prevent members from joining our guild that will go inactive quickly. Lastly, YOU are responsible for the people you invite. If you are inviting members who are causing drama, I want YOU to take care of it. You should know that we do not accept these kinds of people. If it happens once, I'll let you off with a warning. If it happens more than that, I will have a talk with you and possibly demote you. Also, make sure that you assist in helping the newer members get used to and understand the guild. You are required to tell them the rules before inviting them in, and it is good if you explain to them what the guild does, who the Senior Officers and Co-guildmasters are, etc. etc. Hopefully doing this will be a positive thing for our guild, but if it gets out of hand I will cancel it. I don't think that it will, but I am telling you this from now. Also, I need you all to give the effort. Even if you invite just one person, that's fine! As long as I know you're trying. And now... Week 2: Mini-Event Week What better way to have our newer members from the recruitment week get to know the guild than to have them do a bunch of events with them? From Sunday, July 10th to Saturday, July 16th, we will be having DAILY Mini-Events! In charge of this will be our Party Officer, Christopher (or James Greasepaine on POF) along with his assistants (The wind-instrument-playing clowns, and Dog Gunmorgan). Each day a new event will take place at 4pm Eastern, with the meeting spot being announced at the previous event and on POF. These events will be great bonding time for everyone, and it will be a lot of fun. Events will vary from Poker, to raiding, to random dancing. They will be posted on this thread and/or the Mini-Event thread. This week should be quite straightforward. Note that if at any time you do not want to come to one of these events, you do not have to. On that same note, I don't want you to not participate at all. Week 3: Ranking Week This event is something I haven't tried before. I'd like to see how it goes. From Sunday, July 17th to Saturday, July 23rd, our guild's goal is to get to the top of the boards! Each day I would like to focus on a different area of the boards (one day be Enemies Defeated, next day be Ships Sunk, next day be PvP Wins: Mayhem, etc.), as we can then concentrate our power into one area. Two things to say about ranking: First off, there are two ways to rank to get to the top of the boards: There is the way where you can go sit in Port Royal Graveyard for four hours straight, getting 0-1 rep per kill, lucky if a loot pouch drops. OR you can do it the more fun way, and go raid Tormenta with your guildmates, getting lots of rep and perhaps even picking up a nice weapon or piece of clothing. I highly recommend doing the later, as it is more fun and it will do something for you. I don't want this week's event to be boring for you, so if you do rank, do that. If you don't want to rank, you don't need to. I know from experience that ranking gets boring, even after a short period of time. However, again, I do want you to participate. Week 4: Guild Pride Week And to top everything off, we'll have a week of guild pride, from Sunday, July 24th to Sunday, July 31st! You all know how to do it. Do it whichever way you like, you can go stand on Abassa Tortuga, flexing with thought bubbles saying "HAIL TO THE SHADOW SORCERORS!", you can go and show pride to the chickens in Smasho's den, or you can go to Andaba and SvS in a huge fleet, yelling out HTTSS in Privateer Chat. Wear Black and Red, show your love for the guild, do whatever you want to get the guild out there. Make everyone realize that we're the best guild out there! Heck, show some guild pride in real life or in other games (like Dog, Billy and I have done sometimes... I need to post screens of that ;) ) if you want. That gets the guild name out not just in POTCO, but to the whole world. You guys can do whatever you want for this, just make sure its the best you can do. August 1st: Anniversary Party! Now what would the Founding Month be without a huge Anniversary Party to top it all off? On Monday, August 1st at 8pm Eastern, we will have our huge anniversary party! There will be signing (hopefully not Billy singing about me...), dancing (Appropriate Dancing!), drinks (you only know you've had too much when you've run out!), and games (I lost.)! More will be discussed about this party when it gets closer, but you will need to put it on your calendars mates! For those of you that fell asleep after the first paragraph, here are the basic W's. What: The Shadow Sorcerors Founding Month! Who: The Shadow Sorcerors Guild, but if you are outside and you'd like to join in, feel free! When: The whole month of July! Where: TBA for each event. Most do not require a specific place. Why: Don't you dare ask why! We are the Shadow Sorcerors! This is the month of our founding! We must celebrate it! |
Awesome idea Davy! even though I probably will not be here for all the events I will try to make as many as I can...
I joined the SS about two months ago on a little pirate named Red Beard... And I never played on him much except during events... Yet in the little time that I was playing on him I made many friends in this guild, and about a month ago I decided that it was time to join the SS for good, and all I have to say is, it was the best decision I have made in-game since buying Unlimited Access. Oh and I already showed some guild pride at Disney ;) HAIL TO THE SHADOW SORCERORS!!!!!!!!! |
I agree with MA... it was the best decision I have ever made since buying Unlimited! Comparing this guild to multiple others I have been in... this one is by far the best. :D The previous guild I was in was Blades Eclipse.... thought it was good, but found out it sucked after I saw many guildmates get booted for no reason and found myself booted too! I asked the GM (who I had friended) about it, but I think he just put me on ignore. :( Then he deleted me from his friends list! Strangely enough,... when I had logged on, it was the first time I had logged on in a while and had just made up my mind to leave Blades Eclipse to join the Sorcerors. This will be one of those guilds that I doubt I will ever leave. ;)

I'm glad I was able to be taken in to should an outstanding guild.... I had no idea anyone could have this much fun playing a simple game. And in short, joining the Sorcerors was one of the best choices I've made. :) |

We've got a huge and awesome month ahead mates!!! Just don't forget for recruitment week to choose yer new mates carefully and profit of this week to recruit as much as ye can cause ye know that except for this week we will recruit pretty rarely.

Recruitment Week is over now mates, tomorrow starts Mini-Event Week! Sometime today or tomorrow, Mr. Greasepaine will post the schedule for the Mini-Events. We're going to have everything from Tavern Takeover to No-Pants Day (yes, we were serious about that).

Mini-Event Week And now we move on to our Mini-Event Week! Ever day we will be doing a different little event. With the exception of today's event, every event will take place at 4pm Eastern, Kokoros Server. The place is TBA. We wil bump this thread every time we are starting an event or are going to post information regarding one. Here is the Event Schedule: Today: No Pants Day (I told you we would do it. ;) ) For the rest of today, thou shalt not wear trousers! Tuesday: Scoundrel Voyage! We'll be piling on board one or two ships of ours, and plunder the seven seas, hopefully getting to Scoundrel Level 4 and sinkin' some of those Bounty Hunters! Wednesday: Abassa Guild Pride. This'll be a good warmup for Guild Pride week. We'll be going to Abassa and doing what we do best! Showing some guild pride! Thursday: PvP Pwning. Quite simple. We'll get together and do a ton of PvP matches, varying in rules. Some will be Mayhem, some will be Team. Friday: Privateering Aboard Sorceror Flagships (Andaba Server). Let's go to The Privateering Capital and sink some Privateers! Saturday: Darkwalker Party (Party in Honor of our Shadow Games winner). As promised, the winner of The Shadow Games is getting a party thrown in their Honor. This will be at a location TBA. See you all at the events! |

About forty five minutes until we do our Abassa Guild Pride! It may be delayed a bit in case the invasion is still going on there... it could get REALLY crazy then, and people will be too busy fighting skellies to notice us. :P See you there!

Johnny, I'll have to see... I'm on a trip right now so its difficult for me to make it to scheduled events... maybe when I get back some time. Perhaps early August. But for now, we have our new week.
Ranking Week Ranking Week. This is the third week in our Founding Month. I have never tried an event like this before, but I think now is a good time. This way we can show our name on the leaderboards, and those that always lurk on the leaderboards 24/7 will have Shadow Sorcerors right in their faces. For those of you unfamiliar with the term of Ranking, it is basically doing things to get high on the Leaderboards, be it killing loads of enemies to get on Enemies Defeated, sinking loads of ships to get on Ships Sunk, or getting yourself killed to get on Times in Jail (kidding about that one...). Now, before I go any further, let me say this: There are many ways to rank, including the method involving camping at Port Royal Graveyard and killing all those little gravediggers for five hours. Or sinking all the little Navy Ferrets and Bulwarks for ships. I do not want you guys doing that. That's boring. And it won't benefit you. While it isn't quite as fast, try fighting enemies near your level, enemies that will give you good rep and loot, and ships that offer good cargo and a fun fight. I don't want this week to be boring for you guys. Otherwise there's no point of doing it. Now, it would be best if we focused on one part of The Boards each day. That way we can focus all our power on doing one thing instead of many. The single thing will have better results, whereas if we are doing other things, it may not turn out as well. I have a schedule that I have made that is going to determine what we do each day. We don't have anything for today because I chose to sleep in a tad and posted a bit late. Here it is: Tuesday: Enemies Defeated. Remember, avoid Port Royal Graveyard (unless you're a level 2...). Try places like Tormenta or Cutthroat. Wednesday: Ships Sunk... pretty straightforward. I'd try to hop on board one person's War Frigate and sink some good ships in The Hinterseas. Thursday: Poker Hands Won. Most of you know which taverns are the best for poker, so I'll leave which you want to go to up to you, but try to split up and not play at the same table. That way we have more people winning (hopefully) in more places. If you feel like your gold supply is dropping, feel free to step out. Friday: Blackjack Hands Won. Same as poker. Saturday: PvP Wins: Mayhem. Just do some PVP with friends and guildmates, gain some Infamy, and remember that for every time you die, it counts for a Time in Jail, so this day may be a double win. I will be posting Leaderboard stats about our guild here as well every day. Happy Ranking mates! |

Great! Just one issue... I don't know if I will be included with the guild's stats because the boards still think i'm in the same guild as I was back in March and April. -_- Though it may still work, i'm just never included in the guild. :(

The leaderboards are currently working. Pirate Directory is out of date, but I am certain the leaderboards are working. Don't worry about that. I've checked them periodically and I've seen them changing.

I can tell that there is a slight lack of interest in the Ranking Week... I'll be honest that ranking isn't my specialty too. I'll be changing what remains of this week to a repeat of the Recruitment Week. This will go on until Saturday, and starting Sunday we will be back on track with our Guild Pride Week. Rules for Recruitment are the same as before. I'd like to see a lot of wonderful new members joining us in these next few days! Also, James should hopefully post a Mini-Event on the regular Mini-Event thread tomorrow or Friday, so we'll hopefully do something special then. ;)

Guild Pride Week The final week in our Founding Month, during Guild Pride Week we will be doing one of the things we do best, showing our Guild Pride! You can do this in any which way you like, be it showing off on Abassa (make sure to leave before you get too many Abassans taking the wrong kind of notice on you. ;) ), making a fleet of ships and forming a blockade, raiding and "conquering" various caves or islands, or whatever else you'd like to do to show off your guild pride. I encourage you to do this all even when I am not there. I'd like to see a lot of you guys working together on this. I think most of you know the guild pride drill. I shouldn't need to go into more detail, but feel free to ask questions. Make sure to take screenshots and post them either here or on our screenshot thread. Happy Guild Priding! |
