Wow, explain to me the basics of that game. Apart from piracy, of course. :)

I checked, and i was looking though the instructions for sailing and i nearly fell half asleep. Seems enough complex to be boring, but enough to be fun.

I tried it for a few days many months ago & was not impressed. But, that is me. I prefer POTCO much, more betters.

You have to get to level 50 for more of the funner stuff to happen.

The screenshot is a Port Battle where two nations (In this case, Britain vs Spanish) are going against each other for control of a port. Spain won in this port battle because we made them all die.

Does it cost anything to play? I mean, is there extra stuff that you can only access if you pay up?

The game is free. If you do pay for the game you just get an xp bonus and some nice account upgrades, like extra dockyard stuff but you can get those with ingame doubloons by buying Burning Sea Notes from the Auction House for like 200000-300000 doubloons.

Are you on Antigua or Roberts, I could help you out if you wanted the help.

It seemed so confusing, and I couldn't even figure out where to download it! xP

But maybe if POTCO has another long maintenance, I'll check it out again.

Well mates i tried to down load burning but after i did waste like 2 hours and finding it wont work on my computer because i need to install my new graphics card just got it to give 3 for the graphic shaders so i want to try again but am worried about sony that since they were hacked already 2 time in less the 1 months time im leary any of you feel its safe to play even its free how safe is your info there? Luckie what is your feelings on this?

That's our Realm vs Realm system. When you first make your character you get to pick which nation: Pirate, Spain, Britain, or French. Then you try to generate unrest near conquerable ports by sinking NPC's of that nation outside of port and by also sinking players of the nation. You can reduce unrest by doing the same thing as the defending nation. You can also drop bundles which generate/degenerate unrest.

Then, if the port is at 10000 conquest points the port is flipped. The map is randomized out of 8 different maps. The port battle (see first post) decides whether the defender or the attacker gets the port by a 24v24 maximum and invites being sent by personal contention points. Personal contention points are points that you gain from generating unrest at that specific port. The points are sent to zero and then you can get more unrest by doing it again and you get special bonuses. For example extra doors to exit from in the Port Battle, stronger fortresses... etc etc...

If attackers get the port then they get points for that port plus port capture points, and this goes on until a nation gets 300 points and keeps it during the designated map check every week.

That's pretty much the gist of RvR.

POTBS is a great game, its just to dang expensive.

I thought it was only a 14 day trial.

They changed it it is now totally free. Only a few limitations.

Just started playing again, I'm really starting to like it. I've been playing for 2 days now and still haven't been to 98% of the ports, very complex yet fun.

I've had a pirate on POTBS for some time now, I just only use him when the game is down, or I'm having a pretty slow day. Of course, to keep with tradition, he is a cutthroat by the name of Delmaria's Darkskull ;)

I attempted to create a PIC/PNC in the game, but unfortunately, the names were already taken (I believe by previous PIC/PNC members who had been a part of POTBS before coming back to POTCO.) So, for now, I just have a little society all for myself named "Ave Maris Stella" ("Hail, Star of the Sea" in Latin) on my lowly level 15 :laughks2:

Also, everyone who has just started out, I recommend buying a Master Draughtsman's Office and setting up on Cat Island early on in the game as your first step into the economy. Ignore the useless Economy Tutorial, it only teaches, a Hunting Lodge isn't of terrible use if you only have 3 slots. It will also make you useful in your society; you can furnish the lower level players in who don't have much spare gold with some useful deeds. :P

(PS: If any low level Crow's Nest members on POF need some free deeds, PM me in game, kay? I'll be happy to oblige. :D)

The La Belle Mastercraft really is a terrible ship- It only has 380 armor, which is why the Van Hoorn and the Mediator beat it dead.

It took a long time to download for me. More like 3 or 4 hours and whenever I start playing the game my whole computer shuts down and then comes back on. It's weird, whenever I play a Station Launcher game it does this. But when I got to play it one time ( somehow ), it's really confusing..... :zn3lmd:

I've left the Crow's Nest. I just didn't like it. The "quality vs quantity" argument is lost on the Society leader. So, I left. I was never really needed there anyways.

Hope to keep some more interest in POTBS, bump. A few SS's to come.

Forges are argubly the most useful of any structure considering their vast production abilities- Just be sure to find recipie books.

Iron Good are also extremely Profitable on Tiggeh (Antigua), even more so on Bobertos(Roberts).

Ok i have once again started playing it again and as of right now i have a 50 on spain Antiga FT with a Couronne MC Galleon, and a lv 50 Cutthroat and Buccnner on ROberts just tell me and ill add u as a friend :)

I Have re-dowloaded the game and i cant even get passed the log in screen i hit log in and it freezes my laptop so bad once i even got the blue screen of error! bah! I was wanting to play again a little but dang! frustrated!

Hmmmmm.....going to have to check it out

Just wanted to let you all know that I am now on PotBS as well. I'm Kate Goldwalker there too (of course and with green hair) and I'm found on Roberts server. If you wanna give me a shout on the forum for them or in game I'd be happy to hear from you.
