Grenade Level Up
 

Ok so about 1 hour ago i got my grenades and i cant find a good place to shoot them without getting myself killed in the process the only place i found is the misty mire in tortuga attacking lv9-lv18 fly traps and those only give me 10-20 xp

Kingshead will get you killed now, because the Vets chase and attack you.

Or you can go sailing and lob the grenades over to an enemy ship.
It hurts the crew at the helm, cannons, etc. and it does damage to the ship!
EXP is in there too, plus good plunder:)

I have had a lot of success on the back beach of PDF...Shoot Undead Gypsies with hex eater shot to drain their voodoo, then find a good distance and launch away at them. Also, Grenadiers will still attack you, but they will remain stationary so you can also use them to work on grenades.

For someone that just got their grenades, I would go to driftwood and level up on the giant crabs first. Once you're a higher level, then try the beach at padres. :)

aye yes the beach at padres has been like heven for lvling up grenades

i just got gernades, and just went back to kingshead and i attack that formation of vets. i back up lobbing gernades, the group chases and stands on top of each other. if your careful, you can do this pretty successfully until you run out of gernades.

Kings if the best place to level nades, I'll tell you how to do it without getting killed.


When you walk in, go to the right behind the fence, launch a nade at the vets, and they won't be able to get you behind the fence.

really now then i think a visit to kingshead is in order

Just used the kingshead fence trick to level my voodoo: daggers on officers to get them to engage, attune at the fence, back off and laugh as the swarm eats them alive.

One L7 ship away from my nades :)

even with all those suggestions u will still only get 10-20 exp regarldless

If you don't want to go thru the caves to get to the beach and you don't mind getting wet, swim around the island to the beach....get on the dock, dry off and start lobbing those grenades!
Don't forget the hex eater shot on anywho with voodoo-it will freeze them and let you kill them right off!

One thing I want to add about Grenades. Max them as soon as you can, and do not increase the damage to any of your grenades.

I was a level 40 when I tried to max my grenades because I didn't learn how to use them till I was in my high 20's/30's.

So because I assigned skill points to make my nades stronger, and because I didn't level them till I was a high level, it took forever to finally max them. They made a huge amount of damage, and I got little rep from them.

This time around, I didn't assign any additional skill points to them, and I worked them early. They were much easier to max this time. :)

You'll still be able to max them. Because they already do a lot of damage, you just gotta keep them as weak as possible, both in skill points and your notoriety. Otherwise it'll take what seems like forever to max.

Smoke bomb is great for leveling, but the draw back is that you can only carry 25 of them. So you'll need to use fire, and stink also. Keep them all weak :)

I'm just saying this, because I made mistakes and had a hard time maxing my grenades. When you're only getting 38 rep points in tormenta for each enemy using grenades, and having to restock the grenades, the leveling goes very slowly.

Alright, so what your saying is to keep everything low points till I have a high level or max? I don't have a problem with that. Helps me decide on what to level up, but in the meantime I'm putting points on the skill that brings your health regrowth rate up by 50%.

More on Padres Beach...
 

If you swim around from the docks to the left, there is a little beach before the pier. When you come out of the water a giant crab will generate. I've started killing them with a dagger. There's also a rock crab (oh the horror).

Just after that is the spot where a skeleton pops up. It's usually either a grenadier or a gypsy. If it's a gypsy 3 or 4 shots with hex eater usually does the trick and then he stands there oh so nicely while you throw grenades at it. If it's a grenadier, just play catch with him with grenades. Since he does about 75 damage and you should be doing 300 damage, this isn't all that bad. You can rest up to re-gen the damage taken (go back to take out the rock crab).

If you go on to the right there will be something else there (but that one might be a raider). But you can take out a gypsy or grenadier the same way. Stay close to the rock wall since a dread scorpion pops up somewhere around there too (kind of limits vodoo attacks on a raider since you can't run around as easily).

There may or may not be one more skeleton before you get to town

Take care when throwing grenades to this one-- the first pair fighting is usually an officer fighting a raider and they will both come after you if you disturb them. I can take an officer (with a potion) or a raider (with a potion and a lot of luck) but both at the same time is a oneway ticket back to a 3x5 room in the fort. On a good day you can level here before the game starts spitting out raiders which ruins the fun for me (although I'm getting to the point where I can start taking them out).

Stumps if you're a higher level now, but if you're still low..padres.

I'm lv 31 and only have Grenedes at 11. It's a nightmare trying to level them up.

9 exp per kill and i get 7 kills each time i attack the guards in kingshead, so thats 63 exp and i am level 19 nads i get 150 to 200 gold each time. Ok the trick is to stand behind the fence and throw the #2 nad and aim for the frount line middle guy and you pull all 7 guards and then i use my staff or #1 nad to kill then all. my staff is level 15 and i am level 30. all from the fence trick. my dagger and voodoo are high all from this trick.


oh and i have best weapons and ships and 60k in gold!!!!!! all from this trick

Hitting targets
 

I find that the only place that I can hit targets with any degree of accuracy with grenades is at Padres del Fuego beach. Every other place I've tried, I just keep missing all the time. Is there something special about PDF beach?

I really hate grenades, I just find them so tedious, but levelling up gives good health points.

YES! i have that problem also i throw nades anywhere else and i miss like 75% of the time however with padres beach i hit every time its weird

Perhaps, but if you do the Kingshead trick you're lobbing nades at 4-5 soldiers at a time. 20 rep * 5 soldiers = 100 rep. Not bad, really. Plus, lobbing them at gypsies after you've shot them with hex eater will give you around 50 rep.

I like padres beach also. The gypsies and grenadiers remain stationary. If you can withstand their attacks, you should do fine. The higher level gypsies give some good rep, too. And there is the added benefit of having a gun shop right there to restock grenades.

what u do..get ur grenades and go to kingshead
you theres a fence at the far end of the catle
go behind it
and volley the grenade so it hits them
they will come to u
dey wont attack as the fence is in the way
u will get 10-20 rep each veteran

if u have smoke bomb u can get about 100 rep from every level gypsy until they start turning green

Ok, If you are a high level notoriety ( I am 39) and your grenades are mid level and have points applied, go to cutthroat. Run to where the three stumps are spread out and draw them all to chase you. Turn around and walk backwards while throwing, but aim low. I get about 70-95 rep for all three this way. Kill 3 stumps with few grenades.

Oh, by the way, grenades s*ck.

grenades are only good for their passive skill and ohhing and ahhing the noobs :P

The only one I find that Ohhhs and Awes the noobs are the Siege Charges. Other than that I'll whip out the staff and Desolution them.

What you do is read the posts before you, they actually explained it better and alot more clearly. Well, some of them.

Beat me to it... Yeah, you get only 15-35 rep or more if your lucky, sure this isn't that much, but if you get the main group 5 and say another 5 or so more around the same area you have 10, and 10 x 20 = 2000 rep, which is alot considering all the grenade damages stacks. Oh, and did I mention the gold on the side is another little sweetener? Plus the random card drops?
