Release Notes - December 19, 2007

Release Notes - December 19, 2007
  • Black Pearl Quest has been fixed - boss battle has been re-enabled. There is a known issue with the battle hanging at a black screen if you complete it with a crew. We are in the process of fixing this bug.
  • Fixed bug in the Lookout System that was causing players to be sent to the wrong game type
  • Added notification in the Guild Page that lets you know if your Guildmate is online or offline
  • Fixed bug that caused ships to occasionally zoom back and forth
  • Added in-game notification when a Guild invitation token is redeemed
  • Adjusted the velocity calculation of cannonballs to make it easier to hit enemies while on a moving ship.
  • Adjusted battle balancing:
    • Lower level enemies are now able to damage higher level players. Previously, they would always miss.
    • Lower level players are now able to damage higher level enemies. Previously, they would always miss.
  • Reduced Notoriety gain for Grenades and Voodoo Staff.
  • Added functionality to put players back on their original server after playing PVP
  • Fixed bug in server selection that was sometimes sending players to a different server than the one they selected at the login screen
  • Removed the server selection panel from the 'pick-a-pirate' screen for accounts that have no avatars
  • Added code to prevent teleport effects when teleporting while swimming
  • Fixed an issue with being sunk right as you anchor your ship. If you make it to land safely, your ship should never be sunk
  • Update made to the Quest tracking system to not track Quests that only direct you to a location (i.e. kill crabs on Tortuga)
  • Added detection to default players with ATI video cards to use DirectX 9 to fix an issue that was causing players to crash when boarding a ship
  • Added server names to the Speed Chat Plus dictionary

yay now its easyier to hit ships while your captain is moving the ship also no more annoying ships flying across the screen then back O_o

It also sounds like the field in Kingshead is not going to be as easy to use for leveling up your weapons. You can't just stand in the middle of all the soldiers and not get hit. That's going to slow a lot of people down with working their weapons over there, but maybe it will take care of some of those people using macros to level up for them.

ScurvyCory 12-20-2007 04:55 PM

Everything sounds good, except for the staff rep.

I got almost 2 Notoriety Levels from leveling my staff there.

The macro users are still going to be able to use macros, just will take a little longer to do it.

Eliza Shipwrecker 12-20-2007 05:16 PM

I got more than that with my staff and my doll there.

I kind of wish they'd left the "battle balancing" alone. Once you've reach a certain level you kind of earn the right not to have to stop and fight every little guy that attacks you, especially since it doesn't earn you anything.

I guess it's good that lower level pirates can hit higher level enemies, but if a level 7 pirate is fighting an undead gypsy that's level 24, it's not gonna make much difference in the outcome whether he gets a couple of hits in or not.

It will make it easier to help lower level guys if you work as a team, though.

Ok, I'm confused about the grenade and staff rep. Did they lower the rep required to level the weapon (which would be good), or did they lower the rep you gain from enemies (Which makes things even worse)?

Chris 12-20-2007 07:59 PM

I think POTCO should have left the rep thing alone or at least made it to where if you can kill them and recieve 0 xp then they should not be able to hurt you
somethings are just meant to be left alone

I just noticed by looking at my test server client release note list that a very important part was not included -

"Black Pearl Quest has been fixed - boss battle has been re-enabled. There is a known issue with the battle hanging at a black screen if you complete it with a crew. We are in the process of fixing this bug."

Even though you there is that bug so you can't do with it a crew I know many of pirates that are dying just to have the chance to do it alone. I know these are just the test server release notes but that means the open server is not far behind.

Speedway Master 12-20-2007 09:19 PM

It's now on the open server.

Eliza Shipwrecker 12-20-2007 09:43 PM

What's on the open server? I've tried to get into the Boss Battle twice today, and stil get the same, tired ol' message I've gotten for the last month.

Speedway Master 12-20-2007 09:51 PM

I don't know, they just added the news on the open release notes and I can't log in at all now.

Eliza Shipwrecker 12-20-2007 09:54 PM

I'm on POTCO playing the game, but I can't get into the release notes, either. I logged all the way out and restarted my computer, though, and the Boss Battle still doesn't work on Open.

I like these 2 updates:

i still get that dumb little we are fixing... message on the black peral thing

gold and treasure gone

Why don't we get gold or treasure from defeating enemies any more? This is not mentioned in your list of updates, it must be a mistake surely. I'm seriously thinking about not bothering with this game as it's not nearly so fun any more. Please think again about the low level characters being able to inflict damage on higher level players, it really is irritating. You are ruining this game. (I've done a similar post on a different thread, but maybe the developers read this one?)

yeah that dang update with balancing is changing the rules wayy too far after launch, it'd be different if it was always that way, but you'd never sit down and play a board game with your freinds and then halfway trhough go, oh yeah, now ever time you pass go, you dont get 200$ lol. you'd quickly be playing alone.:xangry::xangry::xangry::xangry::xangry::xan gry:

seems I'll be quitting this game before I even finish.

Speedway Master 12-24-2007 06:51 AM

Did anyone try making a crew, using boss battle lookout, and see if it invites your crew to the battle? That's what happen to the other lookout features.
