Ok i really miss the old pirates.

But changing the launcher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

come on! Remember when ever the game updated and there was this extremely beast motion picture of a huge storm and you saw lightning and you could see jolly roger's ship in the distance? why the heck would they change that! that was beast! and it made these rlly creepy noises. I kinda quit pirates online.

Its not the same as 07 08, like when you were able to shoot people off there ships with a cannon and go off your ship glitch. And boarding your ship from the dock! how could they change that!!!!!!!!!!! that was awesome! i was able to pretend to cannon people on land! i miss old port royal and old pirates.

I wish they could bring some of it back, but the obvious drawbacks of having the ships and land-based pirates on the same interaction map must be extremely taxing on the servers....

I do miss the old maps, though.

I knew every corner of the old maps back then, and I still cant quite get Tortuga's new maps in my brain.

Just watched it. Looked incredible... however I have been playing since December of '07, and I remember none of that. I'm fairly certain that the health/voodoo key was always at the top and chat was at the bottom (they were flipped in the video). Also, I don't remember that type of ship launching, although it looks REALLY cool. This leads me to believe that this was game play from literally the first month of the live servers, or some time in the beta testing.

Either way, very cool. I really wish we could launch our ships like that.

Seems they have stop the deletion of the desktop launcher lots of ppl complained even me i basicly told them not every body cant use the web base version it lags plus it takes even more memory depending on witch web version you use.I have found Out Fire Fox is the worst when it comes too the game and crome there both pretty much the same.Looks too me they are not taking out the desktop launcher its still updating.I all so told them if they take away the launcher they are going too lose unlimited players that means less cash for them be cause some cant use the web browser.I really hope they did change there mind.And realized hey where going too be losing money on this idea.Desktop launcher i bet its more widely used then the web browser.Its better off they keep it.

'Fraid I wasn't around for 2007 and 2008. But some of Disney's glitches really are fun... and it sounds like the 'old days' of POTCO were great.

I started in Nov of 07 and man I do really miss some of the old stuff, idk if would be bad on the servers at this point i mean we used to have mainly full and ideal servrs and there was like 150 or so oceans, we never had games crashes or rollbacks that I EVER remember, there was lag but not much at all. So IDK but I really miss alot of the old stuff, but I have to say the loot is better now.

They removed that "Ship Launching" frame for a reason:

Too much lag for a MMO game to handle, if thousands are in the same area, playing.

That, and space issues, course.

I miss the old body fall animation that used to exist before revive feature came.

More challenging, now its too easy to stay where you are D:.

There are some old things that were real cool, but I also like some of the new material they have brought into the game. Without the clothing update back in early 2008 and without the loot update, POTCO wouldn't be as fun as it is now, although I miss the old launcher with that nice clip of all the lightning and Jolly's ship. I also miss the old islands, even though they wouldn't have been well suited for invasions and the new layout is a little more convenient, but not much. I just think of the new islands as moving into a new house that, although it may be better, you still have a heart for your old house.

The clip used to have an old audio track that would replay but I can't seem to get it active.

I remember the clip. It also back in the beginning had clips of the game devs talking.

I think that one has been scrapped.

After listening to the video by Ice Storm, I have come to a conclusion. That is the same music as Raven's Cove in the dark. I thought it was completely new when it came out. Great find!

@James, now that you bring that up, I do see that!

Good times in the past of POTCO.

Everything was new, quests had meaning, old islands had kept the adventure flow.

It got old for me after many updates later D:

Sounds to me like ye need to put ye rudder to this game and find a new adventure somewhere else.

We all know the negatives mate, yet some of us chose to pay for this game. Take no offense, but ye constant negative vibe ye post is getting tiresome.

But Rannulf, it really isn't my fault that the developers stop caring about us and the game's condition. That, is the truth, you can't doubt that (just look at the release notes for the Live game).

You can pay for the game if you want, as I used to be a member for their game for 2 years, before they started slacking like crazy.

Even when they did some wrong back then, I didn't lose hope in them. But I feel as though I gave them too much leisure time for them to prove that they are just running this college project as an advertisement to keep the Pirates of the Caribbean movies alive and known forever.

That is what I've come to know after playing for 2 years, trusting them at patching game-breaking bugs and stopping the cheaters and hackers that used to infest the game.

I'm explaining my thoughts because I have enough experience with the game to understand what's happening with it.
