The Sword and the Spell Book
Alright mates, if you remember back to January, we had a guild quest that we were going to do, but ended up canceling it. At our guild meeting today, we decided to bring this quest back, and do it during the month of April! For those of you that don't remember, here is the story line. The Sword and the Spell Book The presence of voodoo isn't as strong as it once was. Even those who channel the energy of the dark force feel have felt it diminishing. Tia Dalma, Macomo, Romany Bev, Heartless Rosaline, even our own Witchdoctor Dan. All have felt it drying up. Hope, however, has never been in short supply. Other guilds have tried to recover artifacts that would act as a "battery" of sorts in the hands of a skilled master of voodoo. They tried... and failed. Some can still hear a few of them screaming at the moment of their death. However, those were OTHER guilds. We aren't just some guild, now are we? We are the Shadow Sorcerors! And with the daring cunning of our leadership we have found a realtively easy way to restore the voodoo, make some quick cash, and make ourselves the most powerful pirates in the sea. Who knows, maybe we can restore the Golden Age? The task? Simple: Steal a Sword from a dead man. But before you whip one out of your holster and say that you've found it, just as to save yourselves a trip, you should know something about the Sword. The man was a powerful, powerful Captain. His name: Captain Lazlo Oberon. Even more powerful than his knowledge of the sail was his knowledge of the Dark Arts, of voodoo. His mastery of the Doll and the Staff would make Tia Dalma look like our pitiful drunken excuse for a Witchdoctor. And this man, he had dreamt of a sword. One fashioned from the fires of Hell and used to defeat the Devil himself in a fencing tourney. This sword had the ability to channel energies that would make a normal man explode, and scatter his pieces all over the Carribbean. It had gained the name: The Sword of Darkness. Only one man knew this sword existed, and that was Captain Oberon. And he was Hell-bent on making it his own. He turned to piracy to wield it, and the man risked life and limb, and the gallows to find it. He sank more ships than any person living on this Earth could count if they were all taught by the Royal Society. He finally found information leading to the sword in the form of Aztec writings in the jungles of Isla Perdida. The petroglyph showed an image of a sword, blazing with fire and brimstone, slicing through the thick armor of the Conquistadores by the hundreds. Another image showed a Conquistador captain gripping the sword, in the background a hundred Aztec archers had pulled their bows back. The final image showed the captain go down in a hail of arrows. Ironically, the skeleton of a Conquistador was slumped over a sacrificial table next to the petroglyph, a sword lying at the base. His ribs were cut open, a grisly reminder of the fate he suffered. Oberon picked up the sword, and noticed it glowing with energy. Using an incantation passed down through the ranks of only the most elite Gypsies in the Carribbean, Oberon shot a plume of fire from the top, 100 meters high. He knew that he would not die at the hands of some Navy swine now. He knew that all those years of putting himself on the EITC's blacklist and piling death penalty after death penalty would never catch up to him. The sword made Oberon invincible; gave him the ability to turn himself, his ship, and his crew invisible; and even the power to teleport an entire fleet of pirate ships from Florida to Singapore in an instant. The heathen Aztec gods feared Oberon. The Sword of Darkness that he possessed was an object of envy and terror to them. They came together in the crust of the Earth herself, meeting to discuss Oberon's fate. After much debating about his fate, they struck him down with a disease that was incurable, and so terrible it could kill an invincible man. Oberon died a week later, under the care of his fateful crew. He was buried with this sword, the book of spells that he had written in his many travels, his lifetime earnings, and many other voodoo trinkets and ornaments that should shut up Dan for the ride back. All we gotta do is find his burial place in Padres Del Fuego and take his loot. Simple enough, eh? If we can get our hands on that sword, we can harness its power and become the strongest pirates in the seven seas! Jolly Roger's skeleton army will invade the islands, see us, and run back to the safety of their ship! The EITC will not have a list with our names on it, we will have a list with their names! With that sword and its power, we will be invincible, like Oberon! And then when we get a hold of his spell book, we will be able to cast spells that nobody has heard of before, spells that can shake the earth, level entire forts, send armies of thousands to their deaths! There are infinite possibilities! Sorcerors, let us join together and let's get that Sword and Spell Book! The meeting times are currently not set, but lets shoot for the first meeting being Saturday April 9th at 4pm Eastern time and Saturday April 23rd at 4pm Eastern. These times aren't set, but lets shoot for them. Go ahead and post any questions or comments here. For those of you that don't know how a guild quest works, me and Witchdoctor Dan have a planned out story line, full of riddles and tests. You all, the Shadow Sorcerors, will solve these riddles and tests to advance in the written quest. It is just for fun, and you'll need to solve all of these to see the end of this quest! NOTE: THIS EVENT IS FOR SHADOW SORCERORS ONLY! UPDATE: Our next Quest meeting will be on Saturday, May 14th at 4pm Eastern! |
I may be able to attend! Sounds like a blast!
Shouldnt I be helping? After all I am a Party Officer.
Well, this script was written long before your promotion, but I can probably find something for you to help out with.... I'll get back to you later though, after I think a bit.
This looks fun! Woot!
I actually might be able to make both of those! :D
I cant wait, it sounds so much fun!
Looks like I can make it, although maybe I shouldn't have posted, I may have jinxed myself :O
Okay, remember guys. This Saturday, 4pm Eastern time! Make sure to be there so we can try this quest out. By the way, since Witchdoctor Dan is away, this may be a little different than planned. I think that I'll have Billy helping me out for it, so you all know. This quest is going to be a lot of us following clues and solving riddles to get to our goal. Make sure to be there, it'll (hopefully) be a lot of fun!
EDIT: Err... never mind! Witchdawkta can make it! |
Guess who's back! Againnnn.... Sigh... Anywho, yup, I'm excited. I remember writing this with Davy a few months back. Some of the older forum members may remember us planning to do it in February. But some stuff came up, and we had to put it off. This is a big moment for the guild, let's just hope my trend of bad weekends doesn't keep up!
P.S.: Everyone, bear with us on this. We've never done this before, so it may be a little bumpy at first, but it may grow to become a guild pastime. We may need some extra hands, so ask me or Davy if you want to volunteer. There's no guarantee that we'll have you a job, but you might be able to make it a little easier on us. :P |
That sounds like an epic story... it's too bad I'm not a Shadow Sorcerer and I prefer a blade to magical arts.

Kay. I'll remember ya.
This event is gonne be so funny, I hope that evrybody will enjoy it and that we won't get bored by all those randome tps on ship!
Actually Sam, this is going to take place over ALL of the Caribbean. There will be a bit of ship sinking involved, but a lot of it is going to be exploring the islands and jungles all over the Caribbean!
Can I volunteer?
Sure thing James. I'll let you know if we need an extra hand.
Eternal Warlordz is having an event on April 9th, as well as the First Pirate Dinner being held, too.
*facedesk*
No, if we move this date again, then it'll be put off for a long time. Sorry guys, but I really, really don't want to have to change this date. Sorry! Maybe they can change their times a bit? I really don't want to have to change this. Is it at the same time? |
arrg can't move this thing AGAIN last time we had to move it was a LONG time ago!
Cant make it :(
Quote:
Well, the dinner is at three, so I think it will be okay. |
Alright guys, remember, first part of the quest is TODAY at 4pm Eastern time! Be there, it'll be a lot of fun!
Davy, this event sounds fun!
I'll do my best to get there. This is the only reason I'm glad my football game was canceled. Quote:
Thats a really good idea Pirate Guy! *writes down: "SINK 100 JUGGERNAUTS"*
:P We'll be starting in just over an hour! I'm currently reviewing the script for it, and if Dan decides not to come online, then I'll probably need some assistance from some people. |
Well my connection just broke, so I guess I'm out for the Guild Quest...
POTCO isn't letting people log in. Dear Lord, if this isn't fixed within the hour, we'll have to put it off until the 23rd.
Thanks POTCO. You're maintainence kills our Valentine's Day Ball, and now it may kill our quest. ._. Davy Fireskull is not amused. |
Mar came online, this means Dog, Shark, and the others can come online too.
Its back up again. want to just start now?
OKAY MATES! We're going to be starting in just a few minutes. Please get online, if you haven't already. I will be EDITING this post to keep everyone updated on everything. I'll tell you during the quest to refer to this post if need be. Now, lets do this and have some fun!
We knew that Oberon was on Padres, so thats where we started. We decided that he would probably have been buried in a cave, deep inside so he couldn't be robbed. So we headed to The Catacombs (after all, people are buried in Catacombs). After a LOT of searching in the Catacombs, we finally found what was probably the place. It was a large burial shrine with a sarcophagus up in the front. That was it. So then came the worst part. Deciding who would have to dig up the dead body of Captain Oberon. We actually got a volunteer! Billy decided to start digging the place up for us. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...9_14-27-14.jpg And then finally, he finds the body... unfortunately, Billy was really hungry. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...9_14-28-37.jpg Ah well, it was The Sword we were after anyway. Unfortunately, it wasn't there. Looking around the area, we found a little compass. I was able to trace it back to the 1650's, and it looked like it was from a high ranking Spanish Conquistador. We realized that they were the reason the sword was gone. They had stolen the sword! Since it was from the 1650's, these people would long be dead, so we figured that we would have to raise this Conquistador from the dead, so we could speak with him. So where do you go to raise the dead? Raven's Cove of course! Now, we can't exactly ask those Rage Ghosts how to conjure the dead... that wouldn't end nicely, would it? So we went to the one living human on Raven's Cove, Crazy Ned. After chasing him around, beating him a few times, and Billy almost gobbling his arm down, we finally got him to speak. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...9_14-42-06.jpg We asked him if he recognized this compass, and it seemed that he did. He responded in a little riddle (of course he did... nothing can be easy for us can it?). Quote:

So we all headed in, and confronted the ghost. There was a long battle, Smasho barely flinching at our attacks, while we were crippled at his. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...9_15-09-15.jpg Finally he was defeated, and in the chest that dropped, I was able to find a map. Its in Spanish, and Foulberto's hand writing isn't the nicest... there is something strange about this map too. I'll be investigating it, and we can follow its clue on the 23rd. Good work mates! Before long, we'll have that sword! |
Sorry i couldn't make the whole thing. it was GREAT fun while i was there.
Quote:
Yes, that was fun! Can't wait until the 23rd! |
hehe, thanks for catching that Sharktooth.
Remember mates, our next meet for this will be Saturday, April 23rd at 4pm Eastern. We'll continue the quest then. I'll update the original post with that. |
Ooh! I see myself asking for Dirt! Don't ask why.... it's yummy.....
Also, Dog, did you really get a famed from the Raider? |
It wasnt Dog, it was me... Aye, I got a masterwork broadsword, I might be seeing things.
Hope you guys got along without me... sigh. I've been having some terrible weekends lately. I'll try my very best to be on the 23rd.
We were fine Dan. I do believe I threatened to feed you to sharks since you didn't come though... LOL. Its alright, don't worry too much about it.
Remember mates, we're having our next meeting this Saturday at 4pm Eastern time! We'll be continuing our guild quest then! I've decoded the map, and it looks like Foulberto wanted to give his locations some code names, which we will have to figure out. See you then!
Aye you will most likely see me there, since Spring Break ( as I have mentioned ) ends on Friday.
I have a 4 day weekend :D so i bet i will come. Hope to cya all there!

Hmmm it looks like there is a 100% chance ill be there. Whats a event without a party officer, eh?
It seems to me that today is the second Guild Quest meeting!
P.s Happy Easter! |
Easter is tomorrow....

I won't be able to make it. Sorry :(
Today, we completed Chapter Two of our Guild Quest. Below is a summary of everything that happened. Chapter 2: Locating the Sword We started on Tortuga, where I summarized up what happened last time and informed everyone of what would be happening today. We also met some strangers there who seemed to think we were a bunch of noobs. We gave them a piece of our minds. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...3_13-05-09.jpg We said it more times, but I didn't catch it on screen. It freaked them out haha. Now, if you all recall, we were able to steal a map from Foulberto Smasho. One of the islands had an X on it, but of course, Foublerto had to write the island's names in riddles. The riddle he wrote for X Island was this: Quote:
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...3_13-15-53.jpg From there, we charged inside of Tormenta! http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...3_13-21-04.jpg We started searching in the Thrall Den. We tore the place apart, killing every Thrall Captain and Urchinfist in sight! Unfortunately, even after digging up a chest, we found nothing but a few handfuls of gold. Then Chris suggested that Foulberto would have hid it in an area where there is already a lot of treasure, so it would be harder to find. That lead us to the Treasure Room! http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...3_13-33-13.jpg We tore the place up, and then we found a note that Foulberto had left. Quote:
She told us that it once was in the ocean. She could feel its power, and she dared not go near it. Even Tia Dalma feared Oberon and his Sword of Darkness. Although she was able to tell us that it was recently in the waters, it was taken out not too long ago. Picked up, likely by a ship that is still sailing around. Of course, just our luck. We have to do some more searching for The Sword, eh? So we set sail, and decided to go for flagships. After a few minutes though, we got lucky and a Treasure Fleet set sail! We all piled on the Shadow King and attacked, along with some other ships in the area. Unfortunately, we were outmatched and we sunk twice. The Fleet was sunk without us, and we were without any loot from it. Loot that may have contained The Sword of Darkness. After all, it would make sense to trust something like that with the HMS Invincible. We sat at the dock, dismayed, when my good friend William Goldwalker approached us. I remembered seeing his ship sinking it, and got an idea. I asked him if he found anything of interest, and luckily for us, he had turned up the Captain's Log of the HMS Invincible! I am currently working on reading some of these entries. It'll take me a while, and we can figure out when to meet up again at one of our meetings. Good work mates! It was loads of fun! |
When is the next time?
I think we'll need to decide it at our next meeting. I have the time for the meeting posted on the meeting thread. Sometime in May, for sure.
Thanks for the summery Davy, now I know what I missed. Also I had an awesome time while I was there, it was fun being a lvl 8 in the Thrall room!:laughks2:
Sincerely, Red Beard. |
Thats alot of frigates and sloops, where are the galleons? Hmmm no one likes them anymore xD
~Christopher |
I'm really sad i missed it :(
Ahoy all! I'm happy to announce that our guild quest will be continuing on Saturday, May 14 at the usual time, 4pm Eastern! I'll see you all then!
This thread was getting a bit dusty! Just a reminder to all you Sorcerors out there, our guild quest is continuing this Saturday! Make sure to be there!
Ahh dang it, I hate to move the date but I have to. I'll be completely gone at that time. Let's move it to Saturday, May 21st at 4pm Eastern time. That's exactly a week from when it was planned... sorry about that guys. :P
Hey hey! Maybe my computer will be fixed by then. Why does my computer decide to hang itself before exciting things happen? :P (P.S.: I'll be posting from my PS3 intermittently till then. I feel really stupid taking this long to post.)
Remember everyone! Guild quest continues this Saturday! Make sure to be there!
Well, just as a reminder! The Guild Quest is today!
Sorry mates, not going to be able to make it, I still cant connect to the game :(
If you're using the launcher, it won't let basics in anymore. You have to use the browser if you're basic now.
Well, I STILL cant play. I logged into my account on the site but when its time for it to download it says 0%.... a couple minutes later 0%...
Well mates, I'm going to post some of my findings from now. If you don't remember, we picked up a Captain's Log from a Navy Ship of the Line, and I was looking through it a bit. Well mates, I found something! In one of the more recent entries, our good EITC captain stated something that is going to get us straight to the sword! This is what he wrote that was of interest to me: I have heard rumors recently of a strange object being unloaded at one of our forts. Nobody is exactly sure what, except for the highest officials of the Company. What I have heard though is that this is no normal cargo of jewels or gold. It is a small crate, but guarded as if it contained thousands of diamonds! Some say that strange things happen around it, such as plants wilting, or dead animals coming back to life. All are silly rumors, I am sure. I have also heard that it is being moved from Fort Dundee to another, more secure location. I have ideas of what it may be, but I am not sure exactly where… I was analyzing it for a while, and I figured that a ship must have picked it up and shipped it to Fort Dundee… but now it looks like it is being moved. We need to figure out where it is being shipped, and then head there for our prize! I have ideas, tell me which you think is best, and we will try that location. I'll likely make some edits to this post a bit later. |
:D It looks like I can get online now! YES!!!!
Chapter 3: The Sword Itself Today was an interesting day, to say the least. After reading out the entry from the Captain's Log, we decided that we would search Fort Dundee, just in case it was still there, ignoring the Invasion that was only about twenty minutes away from Port Royal. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...1_13-25-32.jpg At about the five minute mark, Mr. Swordshot suggested something that nobody had thought about. On Port Royal is Fort Charles, a Navy Fort. After finding nothing at Fort Dundee, Roger realized that it was no coincidence that Jolly Roger was invading Port Royal. He was after The Sword too! He intended to take Port Royal and then storm Fort Charles to get the Sword of Darkness! With only about two minutes left until the invasion, the Shadow Sorcerors found a battle station, and the battle began. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...1_13-31-03.jpg We were victorious in the invasion, driving Jolly Roger off the island. Without sparing any time, we charged into Fort Charles, and I was able to find a nice Sergeant who I was able to "talk" into giving me the location of The Sword. Then we killed him. The Sword was at Kingshead, the most fortified Navy Fortress. We sailed to Kingshead, and charged through it until we got to where we figured it would be. The Keep. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...1_14-00-11.jpg We charged in and searched the place until Davy McCrusher found a crate that was emanating dark power. The Sword was ours. I pried open the crate, and held The Sword in my hand. Then things started to go wrong. The Sword was too powerful, even for us. Perhaps Oberon had cursed it so that thieves would be killed should they try to steal it, but either way, it began to drain my soul away. They didn't have much time. I gave The Sword to Chris, and he took the guild and headed to the Catacombs. It wasn't harming him though, as it was working on me. Within minutes, I was on the ground, with my vision going black. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...1_14-10-17.jpg And then, just in time, The Sword of Darkness was dropped into the Magma of The Catacombs, saving my life. We lost The Sword forever, but I was saved. I owe you all my life. Thank you for that. It must have taken a lot of courage to destroy what we've been searching for all this time. But don't despair just yet! The Sword was not the only item Oberon had! Remember that he also carried his Spell Book, where he wrote all his powerful spells and curses! The Book itself contains great Voodoo Power! We still need to find that, and it is easily just as powerful as The Sword. But now, let's rest. I almost died there, and you all deserve a break. That's why I told them all that Roger was carrying rum for them. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...1_14-17-13.jpg Thanks mates, it was fun! Expect the next part of the quest to be some time in Mid June, after everyone is out of school! |
Haha, sounded fun. Wish I could've been there.
This date is not for certain, due to The Shadow Games, but I don't want to leave the quest just sitting for a huge period of time, so let's have the next Quest Meet be Saturday, June 18th at 4pm Eastern.
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Sorry, I had to spam smileys. I got my computer back now! :D I will be stopping by every once in a while now. And I shall be at the quest the 18th. Don't have anything better to do, do I? :P |
Can't we just do the quest on the same date as the TSG (the shadow games) but different time? (the more events in a day, the better)
I'd rather not... it'd be too crammy, and it would end up taking up a good portion of the day, so less people would be able to make it if they had other things going on. I see what you're saying, but I'd rather keep them separate.
Time to dust off this thread mateys... remember that we are continuing The Quest this Saturday at 4pm Eastern time! Make sure to be there, it'll be a lot of fun!
This Quest is TOMORROW at 4pm Eastern, make sure to be there if you can!
Sorry Davy, but I cant be there, going to be out of town tomorrow. :(
Guild Quest starts in less than half an hour. 25 minutes to be exact.. make sure to be there if you can!
EDIT: Due to the lack of people that are able to attend, the guild quest is going to be moved to a later date, TBA. |
Oh,... good. Haven't been on the Forums enough to catch that post. xD I was out almost all day today.
Darn, I would have actually made it! I know, shocking.
Ooh! Can I do the quest?
Remember this thread, mates? Well, it is time to continue our guild quest! Where we left off was after we were forced to destroy the Sword of Darkness. A tragic loss, but it was necessary. The next part of our quest will revolve around trying to get that Spell Book that belonged to Captain Oberon. I need not remind ye all of its power. As of now, I do not have much of a lead on the Spell Book, so I cannot post very much right now, but I will post more information wen I have gathered it. The guild quest will be continuing Saturday, August 13th at 4pm EST. |
Just as a reminder, Guild Quest is tomorrow mates! See you there!
One hour until we start mates! Make sure to be online! I may be a few minutes late, but it shouldn't be more than 15 or so minutes.
Davy- I might come on for a bit. Then, back to the hiatus.
