Is getting Unlimited Access worth it?

I'm just wondering. Is it actually worth paying the price?

larkija 12-03-2007 02:28 AM

Peggo 12-03-2007 03:18 AM

Yeah, sorta...
I just signed on for the pay account two days ago.
I miss my high level pirate on the test server, and I can't find any of my friends and guildmates in the pay game. I wish there was a place to meet old friends.

04CP_ Nolan 12-03-2007 09:41 PM

so when you become a pay player, you lose your crew and guild? also, i never checked how much it is per month. is there a yearly subscription as well, i'd rather not pay each month if i do upgrade.

Skullblade 12-03-2007 10:06 PM

Yeah i never really knew if it was truly worth it. But according to this, it must be! Haha :snowfight1::snowfight1::snowfight1::snowfight1:

Pirate Rose 12-04-2007 02:50 AM

If you pay, it opens more things for you. Like getting voodoo, being able to purchase all the ships, doing all the quests, and just being able to level everything.

I pay monthly right now. Don't want to pay for a year until I see what the expansion is. Need to see if it'll keep my interest :)

Nickpf 12-04-2007 12:28 PM

Oh my gosh yes it is so awesome!!!

HaveAMagicalDay 12-04-2007 04:46 PM

without paying, you can't even finish the black pearl quest!

also the basic version is too much lag!

I really believe you, there. I can't finish the quest and I want have little to no lag at all. :xundecided:

WizardHawk 12-04-2007 09:44 PM

The answer to this question depends on your experience and interest. The free version of the game is meant to give you a taste of how the game works. You get to experience most of main game play and can decide whether or not you like the game enough to really get into it. If you like it of course you should pay since full subscription gives you the whole game.

Did you also know that you get a 40% penalty on earning exp in free mode?

There are weapons and skills you cannot get until you pay. There are quests you cannot do unless you pay. Many (including myself) will not make friends with non paying members because you figure many will not stay in the game long. You can't get the decent ships of the game until you pay.

Why on earth if you like the game would you not upgrade to a pay account? If the 9.95/month is a problem then of course you won't pay, but wish you could.

And yes, they do have the ability to pay for 6 months or 1 year at a time. (6 month option makes more sense since you do not know now how long it will take to burn out on this game). Since they haven't added anything for higher level players I will not prepay for a 6 month account because as it is there is only enough in the game to keep me here another month. They do not delete your accounts after you stop paying, they just move it to a free account again and lock out most of your stuff. You can pay again later when they actually add more to the game.

Jdrid 12-04-2007 09:56 PM

Well, I don't think I'll pay for it (mainly just I can't pay it unless gaminglagoon starts working again...). But I'm happy with just playing on the Test Server. I have my beta pirate there, and If I can't even finish the black pearl quest on the pay account, I think I'll just stay on the test server.

But It may be worth it if you really do like this game a lot.

larkija 12-05-2007 09:13 PM

The reason why is because, well, I don't really think I can stand a light sloop anymore, I want to finish more quests, I want to level up better, and I want more freedom from the free play. :xundecided:

Peggo 12-06-2007 06:11 AM

I finally broke down and join the full access server.
Now if only I could find my friends from the test server...

larkija 12-09-2007 09:22 PM

I'm just wondering: How is it a ripoff? :xundecided:

axel006 12-09-2007 10:37 PM

no because i just play unlimited access test for free. :xgrin:

WizardHawk 12-09-2007 10:50 PM

I think one of the top reasons to get a full account is to shut off the ads and be able to play full screen. I had to play in that windowed mode with ads on test for a few days and I HATED it. Full screen is the only way to go.

Aire Pixie 12-10-2007 05:20 PM

I paid just to get rid of the stoopid banners! They were driving me batty and causing major lag. I still have some lag with the paid account but it is so much better.

AceofSpades 12-10-2007 05:37 PM

defenately worth it if u want to stay in the game for the long hull, or atleast till after lvl 5 so u can start getting better weapons/ships.

Eliza Shipwrecker 12-11-2007 10:56 PM

Yeah, sort of. . .

I thought it was well worth it at the time I joined, but I'm definitely glad I'm just on month-to-month for now. There are so many problems, and I don't think the game was truly ready to launch when they did. But it's got a lot of potential, so I'm going to stick with it a while longer.

$4.95 for the first month was worth it just to get rid of the ads. Plus there are so many more weapons/skills/ships/quests available. Will it continue to be worth it??

I've been waiting for weeks for the boss battle to be fixed, leveling up weapons which won't get me anything once I've mastered them (no notoriety or rep). And there's no story chapter to follow the boss battle, so more waiting. If they haven't made some major changes by January, I don't know if I'll stick around.

larkija 12-13-2007 02:08 AM

I think I'm just going to pay the $80 bucks a year. It's the cheapest out of all the others, if you add them up.

ChromeZX 12-13-2007 02:13 AM

I wouldn't personally know what paying for membership is like, but I can only imagine it must be awesome. I've been in large ships, but I can't buy one, I can't buy many cool weapons or do Voodoo. For the love of god I can't even play in full screen! If my pay-pal would let me pay for it I would but until it does i'm playing semi-screen.

So i'm shouting paying for it is worth it.

Ahz 12-13-2007 02:41 AM

I just signed up today because I found that you can max out in the free play. I was at Notoriety level 8 with two levels of the first three skills and the sweep on cutlass and I wasn't earning any more notoriety for my kills. I also found out that even the next ship up from the light sloop is a huge improvement. I did month-to-month for the $4.95 intro price and then am going to see if I can switch up to yearly after the Christmas money rolls in.

Diddo! :xwink:

Varmint 12-14-2007 06:23 PM

Maxed my free account quickly and the game itself didn't grab me hard enough to make me want to stay/pay. I had the urge to continue to play TT when I took the free trail but don't have the same urge to play Pirates. I vote the Free Account option but could have easliy voted NO.

Even If the lag and other problems are fixed I still don't think I would pay to play.

I maxed at Notoriety Level 12 with Cutlass, Pistol, Sailing and Cannon all at level 7. Were you killing small targets?

larkija 01-22-2008 03:34 AM

Yeah, soon I'm also going to max out. I don't know what I'll do then. :psmiley27:

InkRaven the Clever 01-22-2008 08:50 PM

My MAIN question for all of you is: Is it worth it to buy a 90-day Gamepass? Is it more expensive than buying it online? Because I really hate paying for things over the internet, plus I don't know if I'll still like the game enough to keep paying for it month after month. I figure a Gamepass would work, but...Is it a rip-off compared to the online pricing?

Chris 01-22-2008 09:31 PM

no if u have the $80 right now buy the annual u end up saving and those cards are not that good

Pirate Rose 01-22-2008 09:33 PM

I don't know how much the game pass it, but I pay on a monthly basis. It's $10/month. I might start paying yearly if I see some great stuff come out in the near future. But looks like I'll be waiting till summer :p

It's not. The awesome blue name is worth the entire price. The game is just an extra.

I personally am a Founder, but I think alot more of Blue player than I do of Grey ones.

Shadow Cat 01-24-2008 12:33 AM

The game may not be as great as expected now, but in Nov. I paid for a year. I don't think I'll be leaving any time soon anyway, and I'll definitely redeem my membership once it expires. This game has potential. :3

Chris 01-24-2008 12:38 AM

yes this game has major potential i mean new islands like singapore, davy jones locker, shipwreck cove, ect...

Silver Beard 01-24-2008 12:39 AM

It's worth it...I just wish I was able to get it...You ever heard of the term "in one ear and out the other"? Well my money goes in one pocket and out the other...:buds:

mrcharisma316 01-24-2008 08:27 AM

as much as I like the game id go sort of lots of bugs that never get fixed in a timely manner and u can be the quest in 2 weeks or less

gravediggerjason 02-06-2008 07:08 AM

Negitive .. at lvl 37 there is very little that challenges me .. all quests are completed i can solo all enemies .. and the boss battle has been down since Nov 20th 2007... that 3 weeks after public release of the game and .... say ten weeks ago .. hmmm yeah thats a negitive ...

Positive .. I can Solo any enemy in the game because i have lvled up my skillls and Not. making myself far more powerful then any lvl 12 free player (not a better player i stink but powerful yeah) had a chance to complete all the missions, own and sail all the ships. Spend countless hours with guildies ..(which you could do for free) but not with a staff in your hand... just plain fun crushing the lvl 37 officers on the colossis flags... try doing that from a light sloop ...

the first month is $4.95 pretty cheap to find out for yourself if its worth it or not ... i play daily, have more then one unlimited account and several pirates that i play and my family plays .. yes it is worth it ..

larkija 02-28-2008 01:53 AM

I'll have to think about it, since a lot of people said yes.

Kate104 02-29-2008 09:19 PM

absolutely! i've never regretted it once!

elizastorm 02-29-2008 11:15 PM

This was the first online game I've played and I went away for about a month because I thought maybe that other games might be better and....NOT. Especially for mac users, there really isn't anything out there that I found that compares.

Well i think it is worth it i don't think it is a rip off. But when i had a free account everyone in my guild who had unlimited access which was most of the people in my guild said it was worth it. So i got it for one month and i like it so i got it again i think that you have more freedom with unlimited other then basic. i was doing all my quest and all that till i was lvl 8 and that banner thing that advertises kept coming up when i should have completed the quest. Plus with unlimited you can actually but things get more of the weapons other then just having the gun and sword, now i have not only the gun and sword but i also have the voodoo doll and the dagger i have the quest for grenades but i havent had time to do it and no one will help me with it but i dont care i only fight in the quests but eventually when you start to get bored and you have nothing to do on the game then you tend to want to shop well maybe thats only girls but still SHOPPING SPREE and who doesnt want one of those. I mean come on i love the game enough to get unlimited and so i mean like this one guy in my guild he lost his unlimited (it ended lol) and he keeps complaining the game is too boring without it i mean sure i can go without it but i would rather have unlimited then basic so i hope you get unlimited and have alot of fun on the game and i hope this helps so so so much

Elizabeth Love Heart 05-08-2008 07:59 PM

It took me exactly 5 days to be uncurably hooked. I had a few good friends show me the ropes and how to do anything besides go to jail. I been playing now for less than a month I think. Im at level 19 and going up all the time. I love the quests, sailing, making things dead. My most fun thing to do is go in and tease those high level guards and vodoo doll them. Then run around not letting them get me while I annialiate them lol. Crazy world isnt it. lol

Its so worth it to me. Had VMK not said they was shutting down I probably never would have tried it. Now that Im hooked I actually like it better, well different than VMK.

Ameila 05-08-2008 09:01 PM

TOTTALLY 100% WORTH IT!

That's exactly why I subscribed. I have never experienced the game with ads because I started paying before my one week full screen preview ran out. What I can't stand is that the game lags, frequently. It's not much better than what it was with basic, and that drives me nuts. But otherwise, yes it is worth it.

CaptainCharlotte 05-09-2008 04:49 AM

Basic is good in that you still get to play and for free.
What stinks about it is that you get dc'ed alot, and obviously can't do much.

I would love to have unlimited access, but it's true that you loose your current status when you switch to unlimited?
And i'm just afraid if I start to pay to play, I will loose interest....

I don't think you lose your current status, that would be stupid. I'm thinking of getting unlimited access, but I don't think my parents would allow which is what holds me back...

Gorams 05-17-2008 11:49 AM

It is very much worth it ;) I got it because I hated being left out because I was so noob-ish. It's very easy to level up (If you know how ;)). Also, tattoo quests, mothers day tattoos, and other Holiday things are a nice feature.

~gorams~ :D

Joseph 07-16-2008 07:13 PM

Yes its very much worth it

maxumw2000 07-27-2008 12:57 PM

thats the point 2 months you finish the game nothing after that .
levels to low .
i have a level 37 character basic access now and can still start boss battle but weapons cant use them to finish it.
point im getting at is why pay for this account now for longer than 30 days at a time and the problem i see is you have to have multi computers and multi accounts just to start other accounts so you could keep in touch with your friends in game.
multi clients on single computer would be a better answer.

you cant hurt the game because of the way its setup so question is why not have it so you can use multi clients:piratewheelgo2:
