The Modern Day 'Noobie'

( Idk if it would go here or to storys. It's more of a test than a story though, so i'm not sure. )

How many times do you use the word "Noob". That question poped into my head one time. I asked myself, "What even is a Noob?". So, I desided to find that out. I created a new account so it would be basic, and I started. I would like you to meet, Freebooter.

FreeBooter is a level 2 pirate, with NO idea whats going on. I go onto him and take pictures of what people do to him for being a "Noob". Some people are nice, some will stand there and call me names. I will post pictures of the so called " Adventures " I have with him, so you can see what it's like to be a "Noob".

This is his invantory, nothing special about it. Just 33 Rusty Cutlasses and a Heavy Sword. Don't belive me?

Ya, he's somewhat nooby. But thats what we want. So, here is the first page of his Adventures. Also, yes Shamus is talking to me when he says FreeBooter.

( Ya, it's small ik. I'ma try to make it bigger next time. )

I hope this Exparemant will help everyone see what is a "Nooby", and maybe even give you a new idea on what POTCO is about ;).

"nooby" to me is just the lack of knowledge in the game haha

SEAKING23 03-23-2011 03:48 AM

Hey this is a good idea!

Tiberius Fireskull 03-23-2011 04:36 AM

Interesting experiment. Keep us informed on what happens to this "noob" that you have made. It'll be interesting to see how a noob is treated differently from a bigger pirate.

Lol, this could be really funny. :P Some minor spelling mistakes, but there's no Grammar Police around to stop you. ;) Anyways, be sure to post lots more screenshots. Your inventory is awesome! :D

A plain trip to Tortuga Andaba proved to be a littttle harder than normal when someone wanted me to join there guild. The thing about the broadswords is that before he asked me he was jumping around with a broadsword trying to act cool.[

And yes, I do mess around with people sometimes. My best one was...

"Join my guild!"
"what a guild? Is it a type of sandwich? " No it's not a sandwich..." " Is it a golf club?" "NO!!! It's not a golf club or a sandwich!!!" 5 mins later... "Why didn't you join?" I'm not hungry right now, maybe later"

P.S. If you ever see someone in Andaba Tortuga that looks like the guy on the title, make sure to tell me hi :D

Nearly got me laughing there.

Swash 03-23-2011 10:49 PM

Lol, this is hilarious! You should show us what happens when noobs ask for help on quests.

Hey! You can try it yourself! You don't even need a new account! In fact, you can do it on Davy! XD

However, this idea is brilliant. Its like a "reality" TV show that isn't scripted. XD

SEAKING23 03-23-2011 11:44 PM

I'm going to try that... LOL!!

Tobias badkid 03-23-2011 11:48 PM

LOL this is funny, keep it up.

titanic95594 03-23-2011 11:56 PM

Well I am shocked no one called you a "noob" yet in the chat. I love the pictures! Keep them coming!

Mark bladeflint 03-24-2011 12:40 AM

I'm on Free right now. I just got Trolled by about 5 people xD. It was funny to see how much they thought I was a noob after seeing.

1: Someone kill himself with a Grenade

2: Someone kill himself with a FIRE grenade

3: A Voodoo staff with a so called "Magic red fire cloud"

It's really sad to see people be this mean to new players.

SEAKING23 03-24-2011 02:31 AM

Why would they do this?

I'm thinking of launching an anti-troll campaign against them. it REALLY upsets me and its really bad for POTCO.

titanic95594 03-24-2011 03:06 AM

And I thought this was a family-based game. Grr, I don't like Abassa when they do that.

Dog Gunmorgan 03-24-2011 03:58 AM

wow I noticed on one of my little little little pirate that people treat me differently... maybe if they spent 5 minutes to get to know a person they would realize that just because they haven't been playing very long doesn't mean they aren't good people and you never know if that "noob" actually has another account filled with fully mastered pirates (just an example) I guess my point is don't bash the "noobs be their friends and help them out!

GhostlyOtto 04-09-2011 06:35 PM

I remember when I was a noob. Everyone I tried to talk to always said 'Go away noob!'

NygthWytch 04-14-2011 04:08 PM

Hello everyone! I haven't been playing POTCO that long really, just in the last two months or so. Luckily I was already tied into another Disney site and knew a few people already playing and they found me or I found them rather quickly. I did however run around for a few days unattached to a guild. No one called me a "noob" outright but there were some rude people and some that did not have time to help or answer a question.

The one thing that did happen was the number of guild requests I received. It was never ending. I would thank them and explain that I was exploring until I found my friends. It was almost as if it were "there's new meat get it!" attitude towards collecting guild members. After explaining why I would not join their guild I did get some rude comments because I didn't join them but I ignored it.
It is a great idea to create a new pirate and just see what the new ones go through. If new players aren't encouraged and helped out they might just get discouraged and leave, too many people leaving isn't good for keeping the site open.
Thanks for the reminder , well said.
