Founders???
 

I was a beta tester for the game back in 2007 and signed on right away in Oct. 2007 and was awarded the title of founder. I played until the spring of 08' and got to level 40 (the highest you could at the time) and completed every quest except the Black Pearl battle which wasn't working back then and we just kept waiting for it. The game became boring because there were no more challenges and all we did was help other pirates, etc. The friends we made in the game were the only things keeping us there but eventually I left. I just siged up to play again a couple of weeks ago and my level was knocked back to 30 as were all my weapons and much of the game is different but I'm enjoying it again. My list of friends was still there when I got back and they gave me my gold name back but after playing again for a week and not one friend on the list ever being active, I concluded that they all left the game too.:sadmh9:

So, my question is: How many "Founders" are left in the game? Does anyone know? Of those left in the game, I wonder how many have never left.

Does anyone know if this information is available somewhere?

Many Founders are still here but its rare to find them all in one place

Founders are really rare now.. but only if they came back. we have a lot of cool updates.

Rare? I see alot of founders. And I always salute them when I find them!

Founders are somewhat rare they kinda travel in packs i think now :P

I used to see loads of founders, as in at least one or two every day or so. Now, well, I think its been weeks since I saw one. A lot of founders have left the game, for one reason or another. Its quite sad that pirates online's oldest players have moved on, but I suppose they have their reasons. Out of the several hundred (or thousand) founders that there were originally, I doubt that there is more than several dozen left. That's just a guess though.

Don't worry though, there are a lot of players out there (such as myself) that aren't founders, but have been playing for almost as long as them.

By the way, welcome back to the game, and I hope that you enjoy it! Lots of stuff to play around with if you haven't been playing for ages.

There are many Founders still in game. I have several on my friend's list. They are very loyal to POTCO and are die hard fans of pirating.

I've got me plenty of founders in me guild and on my friends list I played way back when and was one of the first basic access players. So when the game was full of you guys :D I still have many friends playing for back then.

A lot left becuase they didn't get what they want like the Kraken and stuff. i barely see any these days.

Although I have not seen nearly as many Founders, I do know of a lot of people that are "founders," as in they have been playing for almost the same amount of time. A lot of people (take me for example) just didn't buy unlimited during the span of time you were able to be a Founder, or just didn't come on. But yes, lots of less golden-tagged founders gone.

There are several left in the game, some may have new accounts(founder accounts are full) soo that means they have blue accounts too.

Aye, I had a ton of founder friends, and now they are all gone. I still see one sometimes, but it's rare.
I'm a founder FYI, but their number has gone done a ton.
Also remember, you could be looking at one under another name :-)

New accounts, in waiting, or stick to a certain server. I know a guild of all Founders. I have 2 founders in the Rouge Covenant. They aren't THAT rare, even though the number is thinning.

I'm a founder but I quit playing for a long time (lack of new things to do, money, and time) but I've started playing again recently and I don't plan on taking any more extended breaks any time soon.

Yes, there is a guild of all Founders. It doesn't have many people in it though.

My guild and I like to keep a joke running from PIC - whenever we see a "Flounder," we screech out in guild about the oh-so-shiny gold tag. After all, we are pirates. :pirate2:

Founders have become a rarity, though. They still do exist, just in smaller numbers than before. So much so, I find myself hard pressed to find one aside from the ones in my guild, and those that only come out at large, usually Disney-run events.

There is a community of founders that do reside on their own little site, which I have the pleasure of being a guest at. But outside of that place, you more than likely are going to have trouble finding regularly-active founders.

Regardless, while it is sad to see the group of pirates that founded the game have diminished, it warms many hearts to see that a newer generation of pirates has come to take up the torch. And I'm sure this cycle will unfortunately continue, with more pirates coming to take on what the Caribbean, and take the spots of those who have left us...

...Except for Del, who is too bitter and too far in to give up any time soon :laughks2:

dude there is barely any founders anymore. Barely. Im one, but some glitch happened and im not getting the gold name and the potco people say i was 2 days late when i signed op on the october 2007 thingy. But ya i remember the good ole times. The old maps and caves, the way u boarded ur ship on the dock, old launcher etc.

hey im not a founder BUT i started playing the march after the game came out and became unlimited soon after and i quit for a while i came back 2 summers ago and havent stopped playing for a long time since (i have taken a 6 week break but that wasnt by choise) and i have thinned my playing time every once and a while

and i cant find many founders but when i saw them before i wondered what the name was for and also wondered what purple and grey names were but my bro and i found out the basic/unlimited thing out and i think my bro still doesnt know

I must be lucky because I see founders all the time, in fact I have a founder friend who left the game for about a year, but is now very active...

I'm a founder. I've started playing again after about a year's absence. In this last month I've only encountered one other, so I'd say we're like having a most fantastic, awesome day...that is to say, scarce, but not unheard of.

Would u happen to know how I could contact someone who is still active in it? I'm not sure I'd join it with my primary pirate but I'll join it with my secondary pirate.

I think not only founders, but also many older players have left too. Logged in a while ago after resting for several weeks, and my friend list was still almost full, but not a single person was online :sadmh9:

what Captain Sharktooth said above. If you have trouble contacting Achilles, you may contact me. There are quit a few Founder's that still play and have come back. We have a good group of them there.

Actually it's called 'Founders Guild' and yes there were only ever about 20 in it, I included, for a short while. Most Founders in that guild have other Pirates scattered around the Caribbean in other equally fine guilds.

Founders do get together on the odd occasion.

I've seen tons of founders! They aren't common, but they're not a rarity to me, I almost was one...

well... im still playing... and im an original founder <=I i faced the same problem i felt so bad when i came back.. i had one of the biggest guilds back then... over the past 3 months NONE have gotten on 250+ people...

I played since late January '08 and I used to see like 1 every 5 minutes but now I sadly only see a few every week or so. I'm afraid to say you are among the last. :(

i see a few founders out in svs alot. like you, ive returned after a couple year break, mastered all i could, all that was left was ship vs ship, or pirate vs pirate.

I was also a Beta Tester, the only thing is, I bought UA a week after the founder thing ended. I haven't quit since then so i guess I would have been one of them.

I'm a founder, but I havent played in quite some time(until recently). I play a number of MMOs but I still come back to POTCO from time to time just to enjoy the simple fun :)

I joined November 7th 2007 and did not receive membership status. Is that because of basic access?

Yes only unlimited members at that time recieved the founders status.

I did not find out about the game until the morning after, I missed being a Founder by about 6 hours. I completed the quests in about a week and had completely mastered all weapons and notoriety (except grenades) before the month was out. Then spent about 4-5 months waiting for the Boss Battle for the Pearl... still waiting for the second story line chapter lol

I've been paying so I don't lose my Founder's status, not sure if it goes away once you stop paying and then decide to pay again later. So, I still pop in from time to time and I'm now starting to get back into it. For any of those old Founders out there, you should come back as it's improved a lot since then.

I only play live when test is down. However, I play on test almost daily. Ive had to delete a few pirates to keep playing tho. I have a second founder account that I havent paid to play on for a couple years now.

I have a friend that is a founder and has gone back and forth from unlimited to basic. You do lose your nice gold name and coin when you go basic but it does come right back when you go back to unlimited.

i am a founder and have seen less and less founders every year. i think alot have left because when you master all weapons and do all quests ther is not much left to do. just my opinion.

Me and the hubbs signed up in Nov of 07' been gone for awhile but hopfully comming back now.

There are a few founders still around. I myself am a founder, but I don't see that many running around these days, not as many as I used to. I have a few friends who are founders, but it seems the majority of them have moved on.

Does it count if Ive been around for almost as long as the founders? hehe but it is sad to see most of them fade away.

I saw three founders on Abassa Tortuga yesterday (don't ask me why I was there), and one more on Andaba Tortuga. I had never seen so many in one place. Thought that might be worth mentioning. ;)
