PvP Tips?

Weelll, Since infamy came out... I have been doing pvp. Turns out. Im awful at it.

Any tips?:mat:

SEAKING23 03-10-2011 10:52 PM

Hmm... not many tips, but when someone attunes you with doll get out daggers and vipers nest, asp, or throw dirt. Oh and try using saber for PVP. Not sure if you know this, but every attack will stun an enemy and with a saber they won't be able to attack much. It's also a good weapon for jumping.

Hope this helps :)

Do you know if they'll keep your opponents around your same level?

Pirate Guy 03-11-2011 12:16 AM

Every attack stuns them? Them wouldn't it be impossible to attack? I've got to try this then.

SEAKING23 03-11-2011 12:55 AM

Yeah, but the trick is to attack when they are not attacking. What you have to do is attack right in the middle of their combos so they stop attacking, almost like REAL fencing.

Shalini_rose 03-11-2011 12:59 AM

I'm a real fencer, I should be able to get it then.

SEAKING23 03-11-2011 02:20 AM

Me to, but it's weird cause i do it with a two handed sword.

Stealth i'm getting on right now. wanna pvp? we can set up a meeting, PM me if ye want to :)

Stealthy, lets start at the absolute basic, which is your weapon belt. I like to have a Broadsword (usually my Bloodire), a Cutlass (My Divine is my favorite, as the Cleanse ability helps. Or I use my Assassin's, which has Venom Strike), a gun (avoid using Blunders. Too long for reload. I like my Corsair's Bayonet or a Bush Master Pistol), and a dagger or throwing knives (I use Silver Freeze.). The reason you have two swords is because some of your opponents get very mad if you use broadsword, so its always handy to have a cutlass with you, if you want to have a simple fight.

Next tactic, is you want to see what weapons your enemy is using. If they are using weapons like Blunders or Staff or anything that they will probably need to cast or use take aim for, pull out your dagger. This way you can interrupt most of their attacks so they won't be able to deal as much damage to you. If they are using a Blade, either use jumping tactics or you can go up to them and see who can survive the most hits from a sharp piece of metal. If they use doll, pull out your dagger and break their attunements.

Now, why would you need a gun? It isn't the most important, but the reason I like to have one handy is so that when they are coming towards you from across the field, you can deal them some damage so that when they finally arrive at you with their sword, they have already lost some health, giving you a head start.

If you need any other tactics, just ask. By the way, this is just what I do. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me, but I like to do these things.

Shalini_rose 03-11-2011 09:36 PM

I personally think guns are unfair in PvP. I had a level 50 use one on my level 16 character... bam I was dead. They threw me in with level 50s!

StellaInTheSky 03-11-2011 10:44 PM

Glad you started this thread, Stealthy! I'm absolutely deplorable at PVP (now SVS...that's a different story...) so I'm gonna try some of these tips out!

tayseth 03-13-2011 09:23 PM

Im in the middle of typing up a PVP guide for those interested.

But just real quick, kill jumpers with broads/blunderbuss unless you agree that jumping is allowed. If you want to become a serious swashbuckler, you're going to need to know how to "jump." Since quick cancel is now gone, you don't need to exploit to win.

Basically, you hack your oppenent to pieces while running around them, trying to throw off their aim as much as possible. If you get hit, sometimes you'll slow down. I like to call this the "right of way," and you're pretty much a sitting duck if you're slowed and your oppenent isnt. The goal is to slow your oppenent, and try to not receieve any attacks back.

Something I forgot, but I've noticed in my PvP's. When you are matched up with a player, if they are level 40+ or so, most of the time they will have a famed cursed blade. Those cursed blades can rip you to pieces VERY FAST. So always, bring a cursed broadsword to pvp. They will come in handy a lot.

WitchdoctorDan 03-14-2011 02:23 AM

I use a doll with Evil Eye. Sometimes, people don't bring knives. If they don't, then attune and run around like crazy casting every spell possible. If they Shatter your Attunements, then use something else. People forgetting knives is more common than you think.

Tiberius Fireskull 03-14-2011 03:10 AM

Aye, never, EVER forget to bring knives or a dagger to PvP. If you end up with someone who has a doll against you, and you don't have something to break attunement with, you will not do very well. I know this from experience.

Captain Sharktooth 03-14-2011 05:25 AM

Try to go with a BIG group of people, and wait until they are all half dead! So that way, you will kill them and get the Infamy.

blaster54 03-14-2011 05:53 AM

Never stop to aim, always keep that sail up and get a way sloop. And get a huge crew and keep ur distance from the ship ur attacking and max ur TAKE COVER thing, it blocks so much spicy damage its insane!

richfireskull 03-19-2011 08:28 PM

I almost always have my masterwork broadsword and my foul bane blunderbuss a musket for range but mine is weak and then i always take a dagger - seven seas - or my cool throwing knives that heal me a little with each hit. Every now and then i use my lost sword just for fun.
This is my standard pvp setup
