How to level up quick
And tips on this? It seems to be taking a while for me.
|
Takes a while for anyone. Do your quest, sail with a large crew, or head to Kingshead. I'm level 17, and it takes me about 2 days to level up. Hoping to get Grenades in 9 days.
|
Yea, there isn't really a "quick" way to do it.
And going to Kingshead underleveled is ******* :P (But I suggest voodoo and run around in circles like a chicken, and only attacking one...maybe two at a time). For some weapon leveling up, I did a lot of prowling in Fort Charles and ran around to all the higher levels working on them. For general leveling up, Sailing go after the big ships, only if you have a good battle nav strategy and do the story line, also while you're doing the storyline and it wants you to kill things, kill everything you see on your way (that you can) and if you see you're close to leveling up a weapon, just stay for that extra 10 minutes doing it :) |
If you're under level 20, at Fort Charles. Just work your way through time after time.
Also, some people have already figured this out, but...on top of the gallows is a Grunt. A bugged Grunt. Who won't attack you (I don't think) while he's up there. Once he's on the ground, he'll attack you, but if he follows you back up the stairs, he'll just stop. And the grunts are from level 14-18, so...it's a nice start. As for level 20+, I can't pick out just one way. I'm only around level 22. But the story quests around that level (for most) are usually repetitive, and award you a lot of 100 point notoriety boosts. So I'd say keep up with that. Or just go into the Navy forts, like Kingshead. But be stocked on tonics, of course. Sorry I can't help more. |
How quickly do you want to level? More than anything it's the amount of play time. I level by doing the quests and plundering.
|
Sail with a large crew or do your quests. I go about 1 level every 2 days. ( I'm level 20, it takes forever to level )
|
Where's Kingshead? How do I get there -.-
|
Look on the map, but don't go there alone if your not 25+ with really good weapons.
|
If your Profile is correct and you are @ level 6.....
Here is what I did at your level and it worked 3 skills and I'm sitting at 10K in gold :degen: Level 7 Ship & Cannon (max since I have the Basic account). I found a sea (not sure what elements caused this ship to appear over and over since I have seen the same thing but with a Sloop which are harder to track down in a Light Sloop) where the Navy Bulwark flagship appears just off Devils Anvil (DA). The Galleon is level 5 to 8 each time. Park your ship just off the coast of DA with your gun facing towards Kingshead and where you can see the "opening" in the wall in DA. The Bulwark will respawn near there. Just keep adjusting each time. I use the cannon as much as possible then switch to Sailing to finish it off if I have too. Then board and there could be 3 crewmen in the 6 to 2 level range. Usually only one since everyone will flock there and shoot like crazy. I worked Sailing & Cannons real hard there and got the additional Cutlass points from the boarding...not alot but it helps plus you will get a full cargo hold each time. Sail back to DA to cash in then do it again. Just some numbers that I remember.... Max loot / plunder - 220 gold (got this more than once) Usually about 70 gold. Cannon - 30 to 50 points if I took her down without the board sides. Sailing - around 30 points if I board sided her to death. Took down 10 in just over an hour. If you do it right you never need to repair with the galleons... the sloops are harder and take longer to take down and board plus the added time to repair...often. |
Hahaa yeah...Kingshead...don't even bother looking it up, just try the other forts instead until you're super godly, or have friends to go to Kingshead with you...
I went there alone for the gernade mission, hahahaa...took me a darn long time but I did it in the end...but holy moly. Most intense mission ever to do at level 20, alone. |
To level up hand weapons more quickly, pick a weapon and then work with targets that are in the yellow range. Use the lowest couple of skills on your weapon until just before the target dies, and then use the special skills to finish it off. Takes a little longer but the experience points will be much higher (and they usually wont have done much damage to your health, so you can find another target and start over, usually, without having too waitt for your health to recharge).
With the voodoo doll, as soon as you can, put more skill pts on the skill that allows you to attune more targets. Attune 2 or 3 targets in the yellow range at a time and, because the affect of the voo doo is less when you have more than one attuned, you have to attack them more times and you can get some very high experience pts. The bugged thug on the platform in Fort Charles is a good weapon leveler but, with no risk, it's boring (besides having to wait for him to respawn each time). I personally like a riskier, faster paced method. :mickeypiratezd4: |
It's only boring if you're paying attention. I've been sitting here reading the newspaper for the last twenty minutes with my pirate standing next to his spawn point, and mashing the control key over and over without even looking at the screen. Woot for bugs!

lol when I waltz into Fort Charles (being level 30) not only do I get 10000 friend requests, but everyone flocks to fight the level 27+ mercenary they have put there!
My target! Mine! P.S, good way to level up is sink skeleton ships (100 rep each) and when ur high level, kill Davy Jones crew on Isla Tormenta! |

I go to kingshead alot as of late. Been working on grenades, voodoo, daggers and cutlass. With voodoo, i'm able to attune 5 targets, and i'll attack that first big group off to the left when you come in. I use poke, the weakness one and fire dot one (not in game, so don't know all names) and I generally get anywhere from 80-100 notoriety per kill. And I don't run around like a chicken, lol...I stand right in the middle of em. Getting to the point where they don't hit me as often. But, i do take tonics as a just in case

The way to level up weapons is to find those sweet spots where you have some yellow and red enemy that either can't kill you or do almost no damage, or of course go with a friend who can heal you while you take on things you otherwise couldn't.
Kingshead: Yes, the training group in the main field get a lot of attention and they are good for working several weapons, however when you outgrow them the masses in the building area at the top of the hill are even better. I can gather 10+ easy there and don't have to worry about anyone else working them. El Suduron/Padre coast: Once you are over level 10 in pistol and have the hex eater bullets, disableing gypsy and then taking them out with whatever weapon you are working is almost too easy. I'm also at a point where I work grenades faster by throwing at things on the shore on the back side of Padre than the groups on kingshead and I don't have to run around to do it. The grenadiers are kind enough to stand where they are so I can just toss and toss fast, AND you can restock more grenades right there. Just can't beat it. Stumps are always fun (at least the graphics are cool on them). Padre caves: When you head into the caves from the fort Dundee side, head down the stairs and take the stairs to the left you pass a couple of vets and at the other end of the bridge are a few navy and undead doing battle. Again, easy to get a crowd around you here. The brigand/gypsy/grenadier area farther in works well at high levels. Tormenta: The left entrance is an easy place to work some not too hard mid 20's. The first spawn walks around and is either a Dregs or Flotsom and normally 22-25 in level. Then there is another one on the next landing down that is either a flotsom or low level spineskull. Once the fodder at kingshead are only grey to you, working cutlass/dagger on these may be faster even if it is killing one at a time with only two spawns. Just watch out for the seabeards as I believe they are the toughest creatures to beat in the game. Just nasty undead they are. The above areas are best used by people well over level 25 with tormenta being well over 30. At the lower levels you may be best served by leveling with groups and just sharing the exp on decent targets. Of course where you hunt and what you do depends in large part on your skill and your desire. That is, if you are looking to level while also doing something constructive instead of just power leveling then staying on busy servers and looking to help random people through kingshead or other areas may work best vs just endlessly sitting and mashing dull target after target that can't hurt you. |
People that use macros to level up should just stop playing now.
You will be found, you will be banned. I don't blame anyone that frowns on phantom players. http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2201 I don't recommend even joking about cheating. Quote:

No, I do not use a macro. Don't even know how to use a macro. That said, a grip needs to be taken. I do believe it was a joke and last I checked jokes are allowed?

I recognize that the potential is there. My recommendation is to not joke about that. I don't recall implying or telling anyone that jokes were not allowed. When emotions are already heated over macros, to suggest using them to cheat just isn't funny. Maybe loosing the grip is better than getting one. |
Anyone in the 5-15 range should go to Rumrunner's Isle. It's small, usually sparsely populated, and has a wide level range of enemies. That being said, you do have to be careful not to aggro the big enemies if you're on the lower end of that spectrum.

quick weapon leveling for fresh characters
another sweet spot for early leveling weapons is tia dalmas swamp on cuba.
go in the back entrance (back of the swamp, to the left if you're standing at the shipwrights facing the tia entrance) once in go down then up to the first walkway, stand in the corner. there's an alligator close, and one further out (may take a dot in take aim to get his attention), target them, once they are under you, either continue shooting, or switch to another weapon after taking one shot while they are under you. they'll be hittable, but can't touch you. the flytraps here are also bugged, shoot once, get out of range, then come back, they won't attack again (unless you get TOO close, or go behind them) |
fight with different weapons on the weakest attacks gives u over 200 rep
