A Very Important Announcement
 

Ahoy Krewe members and other fine pirates.

Many of you who know me know how seriously I take the Krewe. However, due to continuous and frequent serious incidents in my RL, I have decided that I can not for the time being effectively lead this fine band of pirates. To be completely honest, I have not led any of the Krewe for quite some time. My lack of attention has affected the Krewe in a number of negative ways, and the last thing I want is to cause any harm to what I believe to be the finest collection of team players I have ever had the pleasure of being a member of.

A very difficult decision needed to be made, and unlike I would normally do, I did not bring this up for an IC vote. I considered the three strongest Officers I have available--sweet Li Wildtimbers, my darling Charlotte Firemenace, and the ever tremendous Dar Truesilver--to take over the guild and the powers of GM during my sabbatical. All have exceptional qualities and leadership ability. I would be honored to have any of them lead this guild. Honestly, if Lizzy were with us I wouldn't have had a doubt--Lizzy would have had the guild in a moment as my long-time co-GM. However, Lizzy is also not available due to RL issues of her own, so the point is moot.

I won't go into my deliberations, but I will announce that I ultimately requested Char to take the guild in my absence, to which she reluctantly accepted.

So, for the time being and for the forseeable future, Charlotte is the GM of BBK. She holds all powers, authority, and decision-making rights as any GM. All decisions made by her are to be considered as if they were from me--do not come to me with concerns or complaints--they will fall on deaf ears as I have way too much drama in RL to deal with in-game drivel.

Please continue to keep the Krewe in the highest regards of both Disney and POF. I feel that with this new leadership change we are about to see the resurgence of the old and mighty Krewe as yesteryear.

Mate. Though I did not know ye well, I do know you had the greatest influence on not only the forums, but also my guild was based off a lot o what BBk had. You will be missed mate. Farewell.

Char, don't doubt yourself for a second. BBK is in your blood. I won't forget the day I saw you tirelessly running around Kings defeating every thing that moved during the strongest guild contest. Dedication and drive like that cannot be bought or sold. It comes from within.

I don't get to spend as much time with you guys as I would like as command of DA keeps me busy, but I know anytime I click on me Kat De, BBK is there for me and always a smile and a KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT

It is with a very heavy heart that I am announcing that as of tonight, I have decided to walk away from the guild that I have called home for almost 3 yrs. I tried to stay and work things out but things were not meant to be. There were too many differences to work out.

With Li's going I too am gone. Sorry all, but it was just time to move on.

Looks like its one of those things. I also have RL issues to. GL BBK and Barthomelow!

This is a sad day indeed. BBK won't be the same without you :(

Bart,

I would like to thank you for bringing such a high level of regard and respect to these forums while you have been with us. I still consider you one of the finest Guildmasters to sail beside in these waters, and nothing will ever change that. Please remember that, even if we may not see you for a while, that you have overwhelming support both in and out of your guild.

Well my friend what can I say...I still remember the first time we met...twas like lookin in the mirror...and not just in the virtual world, but as two salty veterans which only made our friendship bond more...

I won't say goodbye...I'll just say "see you once the skies have cleared over your horizon"...my thoughts & prayers will be out for you and your family, and if you should ever need help my friend I'm just a call/email away...

This guild has been a great home, embracing myself as well as my brother-in-law...I even had the honor of being accepted into the IC to help out in whatever capacity I could...was unfortunate that I had to take a leave myself due to real life...even trying to come back a few times but the needs of real life were still too strong...

Now that I'm back, as before I'll help in any way I can...until such a time that allows you to return...hopefully others who are away due to rela life such as Lizzy can one day return as well...

As for my dear Li Li and JM, I hope you both will return one day as well...especially Li since you were the one who first brought me into this fine guild...many a night laughing at the Skellar, playing Pocket Pirate tag, etc was made fun by you as well as so many others...we all should stay strong and keep Bart's vision of BBK going forward and truly bring it back like Bart said to it's Golden Day's of yesteryear...while we still remain a very respected guild, we can still bring it back to where it should always be...a fun, family oriented atmosphere full of friendships and many many laughs...



And Bart, we honor you because you've always honored us...which makes breaking protocol for this ol Marine a bit easier...giving you a "Hooaah" instead of an "Oohrah"...heh

Bart,

You and I have been friendly acquaintences, if not quite close mates this past year or so, but our guilds are very intertwined and you've been very gracious and respectful as I have tried to be in return. We've done countless events together and many in the ETC consider BBK to be family.

One of our major tenets has been always been - REAL LIFE FIRST.

In stepping away, I fully support that you're doing what you have to for your family and I will happily go to the mat to defend your decision. I could never imagine that someday I may be in the same position and have to ask someone to keep the helm for me while I am away. I could also never imagine who I would ask to do so. You had three of the best officers I've met in Caribbean to choose from, it doesn't get any harder but you had to make the call.

I'm mates with all three of them and I'm here to support Charlotte in any way I can, as well help Li and True.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Bart. Your pirate family is much bigger than BBK and we're all behind you.

I really dont know you. but i'm always sad to see someone go. i know how its like to manage with out a gm, but i can tell you this: As long as you have a loyal guild, it will see through.

Guildmasters have to make many choices in their days. Some will be good, some will be not so good. Some will be easy, some will be hard. The choice you made was probably one of the most difficult a guildmaster can make. But you did it not for yourself, but for your friends and your guild. What you did was generous, and something only the best guildmaster would ever do. I truly hope that one day you can return to us, so that we can once again see your face. You will be missed thoroughly by everyone, and we await your return. I address you right now as not a pirate, but a friend. May everything in your life sort out so you can come back here one day, back to the forums, back to your friends, and back to your Krewe.

My head is spinning. I'm gone for a few and it seems the world has spun off it's axis. Shock, Awe, and udder disbelief. Can somebody clue me in as to what just happened here?

Bart,

Since I've known about BBK, I knew that, no matter what happened, you never failed to lead the guild with such a blatant dedication that it still thrives today as you take your leave. The decision you made was difficult, no doubt. Nothing can be harder than leaving under such circumstances. It's sad to see you go, even if we didn't talk much. But, what you're doing now shows how much dedication you have to BBK. RL comes first. Anyone can say this and believe it. But only the truly dedicated GM's could believe it, and be willing to sacrifice their time in the game/their position to both give RL their undivided attention, and do what they think will benefit the guild.

I haven't talked to Char much; I've only met her a few times, I believe. But I don't have a doubt in my mind that you've left the guild in excellent hands.

The mark that you left on the forums - the imprint of undying respect and dedication - will not be forgotten. Looking back, it would be ignorant to deny BBK's success and unity. You lead the guild with an almost unprecedented zeal. In short, your time here has shown that [no matter what], you are one of the best GM's that I've had the pleasure of meeting. I hope that someday, you'll return to the game and the forums. But, please know that you have support from people both inside and outside of BBK.

I wish you the best of luck in RL, Char with leading BBK, and BBK as a whole. It's difficult to lead a guild when the original GM just left, but I'm positive that BBK will find their way through it.
