Would you like to see more of the navy/eitc/jolly rogers/evil?
 

Well I've noticed that we haven't seen very much evil in the Caribbean. all our enemy's do is sit and sulk in the caves and forts. So i was thinking we could think of ways POTCO could show the noob tyrants evil.

Jolly already has invasions, but all he does is burn down walls or a TAVERN (lame) or a mansion. The eitcs blew up the islands, but we have rebuilt. then they stop after that.

I mean, WHO CARES about doing the fleets if they dont do anything with the loot. the fleets dont give any good loot anyway. same with invasions. i mean, so what if he burns the tavern. jack escapes every time! so what if he burns the town walls. he does nothing with the weapons or power he gets. The mansion, well who cares? it can be rebuilt. If i was jolly, i'd leave my whole army (to occupy it) there and burn down the whole town.

DO i really need to talk about the navy? They are noobs but i haven't seen them do anything harmful anyways. they just sit around in there forts.

The Navy shouldn't do anything harmful. They are supposed to be the good guys. WE are the bad guys. PIRATES ARE EVIL! Jolly's cruelty was already shown with what he did to Raven's Cove, and I could care less about Beckett. I want to see US doing something nasty and pirate-like. Obviously, it can't be too intense, as this game is directed towards kids... but I feel like the hero. Pirates aren't exactly heroes. I want to feel like a bloodthirsty thief sometimes, aye?

Yeah, I agree with Davy. That last sentence sounds cold Davy 0_o But I guess maybe a little more, but I don't really care.

Well in the movie we are kinda shown a s freedom fighters. Beckett is supposed to gore people in dark alleyways. the navy is supposed to be corrupt and do things like raise taxes so they are almost impossible t pay off then hang people who dont pay taxes. Do i need to get into jolly?

Yeah, but if you think from their POV, they are doing the right thing by hanging the pirates, they are doing it, for the most part, to protect the citizens and themselves. They just want to rid the Caribbean of pirates.... And well, Jolly is Jolly. So, we are the bad guys.

To add on to Sharktooth, the EITC are... special. Historically, they were a massive trading company that traded goods all across the Atlantic, from rum to molasses to sugar to not so nice things that I probably shouldn't talk about. If you know about the Boston Tea Party (most Americans here probably do), the ship that had its tea dumped was East India Company. They almost became a monopoly during that time period.

Sorry, I'm really getting off track. Anywho, they really should be a bunch of merchants, running around and selling exotic goods... here's what I have deduced. Pirates do what? They raid ships. Historically, pirates wouldn't have gone NEAR a Navy ship. If they sea one, they run away. Those Naval ships are too tough to battle. Instead, they raided those merchant ships. Those had the real profit, and they weren't hard to take down. Now, I'm sure that a lot of these merchant ships belonged to the East India Company. After they noticed that they were losing a lot of ships to pirates, Beckett (or whoever was in charge at the time of this decision...) decided that they couldn't let this happen anymore, so they decided to go on a mission to end Piracy. So they are really only after us to keep their business alive and well.

There you have it! Navy is protecting the Caribbean by hanging pirates, EITC is protecting their business by killing pirates, and then, well, Jolly Roger wants to take over the Caribbean because his bony brain told him to.

If i was a pirate i would be raiding some navy ships becuase 1: lots of cannons. 2. gun powder. and 3 weapons.

See what you guys are missing is that they are all corrupt! the quests show it in every single way.

P.S the eitc was the force that took over india. they were so separated from Britain that they eventually became there own government. they had there own mercenary army. yes they did trade and all.

Yea I gotta agree with that...and even though the game is meant for kids, mostly it's played by teens and adults alike...regardless, pretty much all who play this game have seen the movies which are a bit grittier then this game...so spicing it up a bit wouldn't hurt at all...

I'd really love to see a Tortuga like in the movies, but of course there's the whole drinking thing which we do not want to encourage...evenso it could be spiced up a bit more...

Or have an island where upon arriving in your ship it goes to a cutscene that shows you and your mates firing on a town from your ship right before plundering it...

And as for at sea, they should have less navy/eitc ships except patrols or something and instead have more merchant ships to board and pirate...would definitely make the game more interesting...

Merchant ships are boring. and besides, most of the quests show that we help the townsfolk.

Then let me ask you this: If you are a pirate, on your lightly armored ship without too many cannons (most pirates had ships like this so that they could make quick getaways. Their ships were not mighty and majestic like in POTCO), are you actually going to go up to a massive, fully armed Naval War Ship? Sure, why not. If you have a death wish. Your right, the Navy Ships have a lot of cannons. Thats exactly what gets you killed. Most pirates would have had ships probably similar to sloops... maaaaybe a Frigate, but unlikely. A real pirate would not have gone near Navy Ships. Period.

I'm not dum enough to go near a HUGE 70-gun ship-of-the-line, but maybe a schooner or a frigate. I've read about pirates who where perused by 70-gunners by took them down by leading them into a reef. but your right it is unrealistic.

Anyways we are getting off track. My point is, in the game pirates are portrayed as freedom fighters. Not true in real life, but did they have voodoo dolls/staff or epically pwn skeletons?

I don't think they'd be boring if they held bountiful treasures...plus there would still be patrols by navy/eitc...if one saw your ship attacking they'd come to their aid...

And while true that we seem to help the townsfolk, we as Pirates should be doing just that...pirating and plundering...take what you can, give nothing back...

It seems we are doing both.. plundering the navy/eitc/skeletons, and freedom fighting. besides. i thin the navy is the only one whos allowed to move cargo, to prevent smuggling as for an extra piece of profit.

Aye SEAKING, I agree the fleets give NOTHING, whenever I do fleets I never get anything. Also I'm a level 50 and there are no enemies that are a challenge. Thrall Captains I can kill with 2 shots of my pistol. Darkhart I can kill with a blunder shot and a couple sword hits. Foulberto Smasho is just way to challenging, unless you're on Andaba. I would like to see a level 60-70 enemies that are a challenge.

Also you guys are saying that this game is unrealistic. If this gam WAS realistic one hit of an enemy would slice us open and we would die, not become groggy. If this game was realistic a tiny skeleton couldn't walk around with a loot skull chest. If this game was realistic there would be no Voodoo. There is a huge list of unrealistic things but its fine that it is unrealistic.

Haha thats nothin i got a 72-gun ship on POTBS :P - brings it over to potco - kills navy so that pirate can get all the guns - :D

If we where evil would we defend the islands from jolly?

Our reasoning for defending the islands is because, although we are often defending Navy strongholds, losing ports in the Caribbean to one enemy for the sake of isolating another doesn't usually end well. Not to mention, Roger's campaign is dedicated to have a vicious grip over all presences in the Caribbean.

The only real source of a "good guy" in this game is the townsfolk (NPCs.) The British Navy (who are second in line of "goodness") are corrupt in their inner circles, the East India Trading Company is a monopolistic organization dedicated to infiltrate the governments of the Caribbean by exploiting trade, and Jolly Roger is bent on slaughtering any ideas of freedom. And as for pirates, although we fight these forces, you have to consider us evil ourselves. We are designed to kill, pillage, and destroy ships, that might just "house innocent Navy soldiers" - after all, not everybody can be brainwashed, aye?

The only reason the pirates are considered as "heroes" is because they preserve the idea of freedom in a free world. If you take away our views of freedom, then you take away the one film that covers piracy in praise.

Overall, the game needs less of a superhero feel, and more of a piratic feel.

Exactly. I would like to see more of OUR evil. Since when were pirates good? I don't remember pirates doing quests for townspeople for less gold than a coat costs. Why do we even care that much about invasions? (Besides the free rep) WE should be the ones invading. I don't remember pirates walking into stores and buying anything either. Stealing is free, and that's what pirates do.

Well becuase we are the only people who preserve the idea of freedom. Why should we invade? the towns people are nice to us. there are no merchant ships becuase of the eitc, and that makes the towns people poor. they hate the eitc becuase of that and we fight them so they like us. and we defend there homes.

The Navy- Yes They are the good guys. They wont blow up Port royal because of innocent ppl living there. But they could do something Bad to Tortuga. Dude its a Pirate Town! They, Like Us, Kill the undead. Everyone here has seen a Navy Cadet fighting a undead bandit atleast once.

Jolly Roger- He has already reached the hieghts of cruelity by Killing People in Ravens cove, Making Pirates join him by the help of casa de muertos. He wants to kill jack for revenge and become the pirate lord of caribbean. But he doesnt want to rule over pirates and undead- he wants to rule over the navy too! he wants to rule over the eitc since becket betrayed him.

EITC- East India Trading Company. Most of us indians have read about them in our Civics Book at school. They Ruled over india. Came as Traders, became tyrants. They Were not even connected to britain, they just became a empire themselves!

The eitc controls the navy mate!

I beg to differ about the world Mr. awesome, lol. But i agree about the game.

Well Davy I'n history pirates sailed in sloops with one gun deck but they had a good deal of ppl and good deal of guns and they took over other ships of higher value and strength and sailed away while they killed or threw them off the side of the ship.

Hey would use grape/chain shot the slow the down, and board. pirates weren't very good at broadsiding, but at boarding they where excellent becuase you there large crews and weapons.

I always feel bad when I kill a navyman, he was just doing his job... :(

I laugh..... i bet they did the same to a towns person, anyways.
