Hopeful news if you complete Back Pearl Quest!

Not.

I recently completed it 100%, and began the "boss battle" against the War Frigate Goliath.

However... not only when you steered the ship did it jump all over the place, but half the time I ended up in the open seas. I couldn't really do jack.

Looks like they didn't plan on anyone getting this far..... ooooops.

When you get here you will see what I mean.

But don't hold your breath. Let's hope they actually fix something for once.

livewire82 11-07-2007 03:36 PM

hows the pearl look in game? any screen shots? i'd really like to see it

Vangelis 11-07-2007 09:29 PM

LOL that's not the point.

Great, you can drive it, but it takes 20 minutes to get to the end of the mission.

And then, you can't even hit the damn Goliath, so you have to abandon the mission.

Pathetic.

Would post pics, but cant since this forum doesnt allow it.....

It seems the POTC game/forums are really really bugged and not worth the hassle.

livewire82 11-07-2007 10:31 PM

i thought the screen shots rule was only during the beta?

Silver Beard 11-07-2007 10:57 PM

weird...I haven't got that far yet so i wouldn't know. i am sbout 15% complete with it.

Ironhawk 11-07-2007 11:16 PM

I have finished boss battle in beta and to sink the Goliath i used ramming speed.
Took 7 rams to bring her down. Another player use cannon until she found one
spot that caused damage to the Goliath and kept firing there unti it sank.
After we finish the boss battle we got some quests from Jack sparrow again
this time to get the Headstone(?) but the quest ended in Valentina in Padres
Delfuego. I believe Disney is not ready yet with the Headstone quest.
So in Open i don't want to finish quests too quickly because i know they're
not ready with the second quest and i prefer to raise my skill levels
than raising my notoriety or finishing quests.

Vangelis 11-07-2007 11:46 PM

lol I used ramming speed and went right through her into the open sea....

Which spot did you ram lol

Damn this is getting ridiculous now!

Davy 11-07-2007 11:53 PM

Congrats on getting that far, and I look forward to the day that you will get patience and report the quest as a glitch.

Vangelis 11-07-2007 11:58 PM

Been there, done that, several times now but alas, no reply and no fix!

Thank Disney for the time they took to repair this whole boss battle...

I can look forward to more pre-set replies I'm sure (to my bug reports.)

Yea they will probably say to add more memory to your hard drive or to update your graphics card and stuff like that EVEN though you have enough memory AND your graphics card is the most recent. I hate those preset replies.

Davy 11-08-2007 03:12 PM

Give Disney credit for all the work they've done so far. With graphics like this, there's bound to be glitches. Why can't we all be thankful?

I completed the black pearl quest in beta. I just completed it as well on open. It is still bugged, if not more, in open than it was in beta. I did what I did in beta, destroyed every bridge and looked for a sweet spot on the Goliath to sink it. So, nothing has been fixed.

My gunner quest is still bugged on my test pirate as well as my open pirate, both showing the 5 out of 6 done stuff but yet completed. I do not see any difference in the game since release compared to beta besides some pretty graphics.

I am at level 27 right now. My test pirate is at level 32 and still no voodoo staff quest. So, I assume if I hit level 30 on open I will see no voodoo staff just based on how I run into every bug that I had on beta. I am sure the devs are doing their best, but this game was really not ready to go live. Now that I am paying, I expect content and fixes unlike that I received during beta testing.

That's interesting because today I decided to level my beta character who has been sitting very close to level 30. As soon as I hit 30 the "unlock staff" quest showed up in my journal and I was sent to Tia Dalma for tasks. That's about as far as I went with it before logging in to open, but it's there for me to work on. Will be interesting to see if I can get it.

Like you, my Gunner quests are still showing up in my journal, too. Sorry to hear the Goliath/Pearl battle is still buggy. There are sill a lot of bugs in the game. When I was working the quests for Ewan, every time I went to see him he said the same thing (which is what Sparrow had said before he sent me to him). Thankfully my journal gave me the correct information. Hopefully they'll get some of these things worked out soon.

Rob 11-09-2007 07:28 AM

Good to see they fixed the voodoo staff quest. I assume they fixed it for those reaching the level and not those that have passed it. Same thing with the gunner quest on open. I know someone who is not bugged but yet my test and open still has it.

Maybe I am just bugged. Still, thanks for your input. Good info.

Scarlet Hunter 11-09-2007 02:30 PM

I'm sure there are plenty of disappointments and bugs, but I've played quite a few online games at start-up, and believe it or not, this went a lot smoother than most. No matter how much testing is done, that first time the switch is turned on for the entire world to see, bad things happen :pirate7:

Vangelis 11-09-2007 02:37 PM

You would have thought mega-bucks Disney would be able to overcome such problems!

But the Voodoo Staff quest is STILL bugged :turkeydanceani:

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I'm going to wait when I get to that point, for them to work on it a bit more.

EERaider 11-12-2007 04:10 AM

Aye

Ar, I be at 95 percent completion of the Black Pearl Quest on the Regular Open game, I will tell you this: I did not complete that whole quest only to be confronted with a ship that I cannot hit no thank you!!! I hope this is fixed in the next couple days because when Ironwall Jack meets Goliath there will be bloodshed and driftwood aplenty. As long as I can bury some lead into that hull that is) I can't wait to get me hands on that pearl says I it be a deadly combination when you but Ironwall Jack together with the pearl! Ar, Until then mateys . YOHO, I'll send screenshots!

SillyPutty 11-12-2007 04:06 PM

Yeah, I had the same problem - jumpy and uncontrollable, and many times I ended up in Uncharted Waters. Not only could I not injure the Goliath through cannon fire, it couldn't damage me either, which kind of took the fun out of it. I just threw on a movie to pass the time between my use of the Ramming Speed skill and rammed it to pieces.

Well, there's nowhere to go but up from here...

EERaider 11-12-2007 07:32 PM

how to beat goliath?

This still doesn't answer my questions, i can't hit the darn thing, anywhere, the hull just adsorbs the cannonballs. I tried to ram like u said, but I ended up in the high seas, glitching, they really need to work on this, I can't believe how a decent game like this can have such a terrible level. I mean, no ship is unsinkable, unless it is the black pearl of course, (undead ships don't count). PLEASE HELP!

EERaider 11-12-2007 08:37 PM

Ignore this

Please igonore my pervious post, I have figured out the meaning to this on another threaed I explain why the pearl is so "laggy". The thread is titled "The reason you can't control the black pearl"! So please disreguard my earlier message and check out the new thread. Very interesting! YOHO

Vangelis 11-12-2007 09:14 PM

lol read my solution for this quest in the other topic too :-)
