Ship of the Line Official Thread.

Welcome!
This is the Ship of the Line's Official Thread!
Here we can discuss/post about the Ship of the Line!

let me start a topic, should you be able to use the dingy in the boat if your ship is about to sink? If so the captain can click, " Abandon Ship! " button near the boarding permission button. Then you will be at the nearest island there!! Thats what i think. Now lets discuss!

Ofury/ Tom 11-28-2010 09:51 PM

I agree that would be fun! I would also like to be able to chose who goes on land and who stays on the ship. Like you know how your dropping someone off everyone has to port and such? I would like an option where each person gets to chose if they want to go on land or not or the captian can choose for them.

Basil Darkratte 11-28-2010 09:52 PM

I Sent the " Abandon Ship" Idea about a year and some odd monts ago. This was way before there was any thought of the ship of the line. And it applied to all ships,

mikhailskills 11-28-2010 10:02 PM

Sorry mates, but from what a GM said this weekend. it doenst look like we will see the ship for a while.

The Question that was asked - When will we see the new ships?
GM answer was- NOT for a long time.

christopher cannonskull 11-28-2010 10:13 PM

i think a few months theyll be out

Captian Xavier also answered that he didn't know there was new clothing. So all we can really do is wait and see!

swordshot 11-28-2010 11:21 PM

mikhailskills, thats not what we are talking about, we are talking about if there can be a " abandon ship " button, and i would like to make like a " Moderator " for this thread just in-case a topic is solved or finished talking about. So PM me or comment if you'd like to.

CarribeanThunder 11-28-2010 11:54 PM

Managed to snag this before a Fleet today. I parked myself by Padres, ship facing away from Padres, went afk, and when I came back, I saw the great beast.

Well then the topic should NOT be called "Ship of the Line Official" Thread. it should be called "abandon ship button"

You'd be amazed at the broken wall that's still there, plus the low amount of deck cannons for crewmates to use. Plus, there's no repair spots on it either.

swordshot 11-29-2010 01:28 PM

Sotl

I'm planning to get this awesome ship, but I'm thinking it takes an eternity to turn. a war sloop could easily our maneuver it, and take it down. but if your in range of its rm or canons, you might as well abandon ship.

P.S why do we need an abandon ship button when we can just TP away??

I have some pics of the ship of the line on test. Keep in mind I had to make the pics smaller because most of my space was used up for the old sailing music.
Sadly these are the only two pics I can upload because I have No more space not even 1 kb. All is used

Sometimes when you do it you get in to a glitch where the camera faces the sky sideways.
Another glitch ( Which is fixed) is that sometimes your ship is stuck out there and you can't get it back even if you go to a shipwright.

That's the Caribbean Struggle quest.

Crim 11-29-2010 10:11 PM

Since the ship is so relatively large, it would be an awesome feature if crew mates were given the option to "set sail" and carry out the typical on deck chores for sailing. Also, allowing mates to enter into a door, much like the common island jails, and head down a flight of steps to the broadsides and allow crew members to gun from there; a captain's quarters wouldn't be to bad either ;)

A long quest you get from any shipwright. It is where you go and defeat all the French and Spanish Undead skeletons and then their ships. Good for rep, but that’s all. I wouldn't do it till you were around Lvl 35, those French Captaines are dangerous, and a good crew is recommended for the Flag Ships.

Add them if you can, and remember the GMs act like players so they only tell what we would know, I think they will release them sometime next year.

I would also like to add the low ammount of broadsides, whether that will be expanded or not. It's only 12, same as a war frigate, when the Goliath appantly had 18, and I accidently glitched onto the goliath, it was literally a massive frigate (I mean BEFORE they changed it)

LOL good question. Ship of the line doesn't really do anything to SvS because its only a few times a day and its a quick event that no one bothers to leave if it pops in middle of SvS. SOLT for me and one war sloop or war frigate crew from SvS can probably sink all the SOLT ships in 8 minutes or less. The real issue in SvS is really the many different Bugs that haven't been fixed since a long time(none connected to SOLT). Maybe the only negative thing in SOLT to SvS is that It causes bad lag when so many other ships sail which SvSers intend not to blame SOTL because there is always some lag in SvS in andaba in SvS(SvS bug). Overall, If SvS is at a intense point with battles, no one bothers to leave for SOLT because svs is way harder and everyone wants that bounty and everytime i have done SOLT, all I've gotten is useless junk in loot. So SOLT doesnt have any possitive or negative effects on SvS because they are different in that one is pirates vs navy/eitc(solt) and other is pirate ship vs pirates ship(svs).
Hope that answered it, Thanks for Asking!

The Question that was asked - When will we see the new ships?
GM answer was- NOT for a long time.

They dont know about that stuff they play as if there were no glitches like the game was real

GM = Game Master = Game makers/crew so im pretty sure they know what future of the game is going to be

Joshua Coalskull 11-30-2010 11:32 PM

No the GMs never tell about anything being released. Even when they added Raven's Cove to the game (With Fog) They still acted like they didn't know what was going on. It is how they are. Even if they say not for a long time that doesn't mean it will be a long time, it can simply mean a month. I never trust what a GM says.

titanic95594 11-30-2010 11:39 PM

If only they give us clues!

Ultima 11-30-2010 11:41 PM

Joshua Coalskull 12-02-2010 12:17 AM

They didn't forget anything, they just accidently released before they started to work on hit, it was a leak a hint of things to come, like they did with the Fishing.

HAHAHA!!! Awesome how I know what you're talking about...

It's over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!

The ship of the line looks great, I can't wait until it is released. Rumor is that the next update to test, (January), will bring this wonderful update. Making the arrival to live sometime in mid-february, Which is very exciting if I do say.

steam323 01-16-2011 10:59 AM

ok i think they should put into the game where you can be able to go to the dingy and pick and island to take the dingy to that island but of course it is just a loading screen but you get the picture right

Countainer7b 01-17-2011 05:04 AM

good idea but... what if they basically added the dingy as a ship that can be launched as a ship with a cannon up front that can be used to ether attack another ship or escape as the ship is sinking which would take a minuet or two. also the dingy needs to have a max speed of at least 8 knots. (it would make the sotl viable in svs) but for the purpose balancing it's power make it sink after 5:00 if the sotl sinks witch is plenty of time to get back to a near by island or to another sotl. also when the ship is sinking (there would be a count down) and when on a dingy after the sotl sinks you can't tp of the ship/dingy.

From what I heard, the SOTL is coming soon, maybe as early as April or May. :ship:

ruisen2000 04-07-2011 02:27 AM

I dont think the SOTL will own in svs (unless they raise it's LP). Being such a huge ship, it makes it an easier target to hit then even a War Galleon (which is pretty easy to hit already). And also many War Sloops have some mad gunners. My war frigate, with max LP and hull shield, was sunk in svs bar a war sloop in 3 seconds (didnt even have time to hit cover) If we extrapolate that, a SOTL have twice the LP, so should take some 6 seconds to sink.

I was wondering myself if they hacked, so I did some calculations (didnt have a piece of paper with me, so just going to type ot on here lol.
Average Fury hits around 500-600/hit (provided hull shield is down and that I remember correctly). A ram with fury boosts can boost that to around 700. 3 shots per load and 4 gunners. 700x3x4 = 8400 / around 2 seconds to fire. 20000/4200 = 4.7 seconds.
In other words, it takes 4.7 seconds for a War sloop with 4 max fury gunners to sink SOTL.. lol

Dog Gunmorgan 04-07-2011 02:40 AM

I have a war galleon and every time I svs I get sunk but LIGHT sloops with fury gunners in like 5 seconds...

It wouldn't happen that way because a ship of the line has very powerful hull panels. In other words, it would take you quite a while just to wear down the shield.

Like Mason said, you very much underestimated the hull panel strength. If taking down a Ship of the Line in SVS were this easy, no one would have a problem with a Fleet Ship of the Line, which has the same amount of hull panel strength (or close to it). Not saying that the HP is the same, though....

My estimation, though, is that it would take a whole 125 Rank 5 Fury Shots and then some to take down a whole Ship of the Line panel. But I've never had the chance to test this. But knowing what a Fleet Ship of the Line's hull panels are like, I'd say that's a half-decent estimation... You can work along from there.

Mason 04-26-2011 01:57 PM

To give you an idea, to break through the hull panels, you'd have to go out of your way to only fire on one side of the ship. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to break through the panels before the ship sunk (which would still take a while).

firedude210 04-27-2011 01:03 AM

When?

When is it coming out? And i think the abandon ship idea is splendid. :piratear: :SkullBullet1:

Tobias Daggercrash 04-27-2011 02:36 AM

The SOTL rules in svs, believe me. I have been on Outlaw's SOTl for about a hour or 2, and god the hp is nearly dead but the hull panels are nearly full. they should increase the hp.

Captain Jason 04-29-2011 12:35 AM

They don't really need to I think... It's powerful enough.

MacIronhawk 05-07-2011 04:02 AM

When the SOTL was first exposed to the test servers by accident, many thought the update wouldn't take long, but with the recent addition of the Queen Anne's Revenge, I think the SOTL and new ships they planned on introducing are meant for a release with ship customization.

The SOTL itself is completely done, after looking in the files, and could be released if they wanted it to be. I'm going to guess that they want these ships to be released alongside ship customization to make the update seem better.

Red, blue, yellow, orange, green sails along with fancy ship decorations(see Queen Anne's shots) plus new ships would be an amazing update. Imagine being able to customize your ship to your liking, plus special decorations and sails exclusively retrieved by doing quests. If I were a developer, and I'm not, three to six new ships plus an exotic ship customization addition would be a major update.

I can't wait to see what they have in store for us, and until these new ships come out, I'm satisfied with a new, zombie ship to fight against on test.

You never really know. It's possible that Disney may release the Ship of the Line and the NPC Buyables seperately.

But hey, only time shall tell...

I wonder what the repair cost is. (Sorry if I already asked this question). I saw a SOTL sunk with a QAR. That could have not been good.

That would be great but it would make the game even laggier and crash prone than it is now, i think i would be overjoyed at just the new ship, even the new scoundrel of the seas is enough to hold me over

CharlesGoldburn 07-25-2011 08:08 PM

That would be so COOL!!!

I tottaly agree. That would be one of my favorite things to do like I would sink my ship just for that HAHA!!!:piratewheelgo2:

CharlesGoldburn 07-25-2011 10:56 PM

Yea I always wondered that!?!?!

Mr. No Fear 07-31-2011 09:52 PM

I heard they are coming out next month!:pirate_flag:

ruisen2000 08-01-2011 07:56 AM

I don't understand why everyone wants the SOTL so much. In my opinion, it would just be like all the other small updates hat we had - fun for one or two weeks, then boring......

Captain Jorden 08-01-2011 11:54 PM

I am just going to stick with cebures. And who doesn't want a ship with FURY broads. And I think it is the same health as the War Sloop. Less cannons but Fury Broads! Now I need to find explosive/Fury people. That would make it so much better. And with the Sotl, battling a small ship, The deck is to high and if you could hit the small ship right beside ya, most would hit the sails and some would miss and 1-4 cannons on the broads would hit the deck. Also I would rather take the QAR version of this. If it would come out.

The Cerberus has Explosive Broadsides and 3000 HP. The Revenant has Fury, though.

Captain Jorden 08-02-2011 03:42 AM

I ust have heard wrong about it. But explosive???

Explosive broadside+Fury Gunners= Killer ship. It would be classified as a Sloop in my case. But an awesome ship. XD Explosive broads... Let me think. (Idk how many under deck cannons it half but this is a guess)

If it has explosive broads...
7 under deck cannons+Open Fire+Fury/thunder/explosive gunners(3 deck cannons)=??? over 5000 I think. Still this would be better than the SOTL...

Question:
How much time would it take to reload explosive under deck cannons.
What is the real damage on the explolive deck.
I don't know if this is all. It might lead to a new thread.

Nobody knows, only the Ship of the Line and Kingfisher were bought before they were taken out.

Captain Jorden 08-02-2011 11:36 AM

I was on the goliath heres a pic.

Attachment 4728

Lol. It would have a few changes from this:

7/7 cannons on the deck.

SOTL has dingy and that turning thing. but its what the sotl would be like.

CarribeanThunder 08-02-2011 03:00 PM

The Goliath's model came first, and I think it's more like a test model for the Ship of the Line. Placed it into the game, and Disney figured they should make some changes to the model, then send out another set of Ships of the Line for us to fight. Really though, I prefer the Fleet, Pirate and Bountyhunter Warship versions.

As for your question about Explosives, a Cerberus would have 7 broadside guns. I've dealt 29k damage to a Navy Panther with Explosive, Open Fire and other boosts. In theory, if the broadside were to have the same damage as a regular Explosive (which, knowing what power it could have, it might not), the whole broadside could do over 100k damage. This is if you have Open Fire up, Rank 5 Explosive, Barrage and Left/Right Broadside, and have an Explosive cannon ram like the Primed Ram (or something like that).

Yeah.

Here is the latest I received from support. It's better than nothing I suppose. Notice they refer to "they"....so hopefully all ships that have been discussed will be coming soon.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Hello fellow Pirate,

Thank you for writing in with your concerns. The ship you are referring to was on the Test Server for a short time; however we removed this because it still needed some work. I would keep your eyes out on the Current News blog and on the Test Server for any new information to when they will return.

Also, we are always happy to hear from our Pirates and love to hear what they would like to see added to the game. If you have any ideas or suggestions on what you think would make Pirates Online more fun for everyone please feel free to let us know.

Have a wonderful day!

Hmm.

Today marks the day when the new ships was accidentally released.

Also to stay on topic, I like to see it defeat bounty hunters and sotl, and fleet ships alone.

Something is coming out tomorrow i think it is the sotl because of the dates

That would be awesome......(crosses fingers)......but I'd rather wait if it's coming with bugs. I think it should go back on Test first. :smiley-rpg028:

Everything comes along with bugs, no matter what. At this point, however, the only bug I see is the wall that can be walked through on the Ship of the Line. I'm not sure if at this point it's solid, but the last time I boarded, which was during the Bountyhunter update on Test, it was still not yet solid.

As for the NPC Buyables - Kingfisher, etc. - all I know is that the Kingfisher seems perfectly fine. I just wonder if they're going to raise its HP up just a tad...

Wait, how do you know something is coming tomorrow?

Captain Sharktooth 08-04-2011 06:29 AM

There is an update scheduled for 11 P.M. Pacific until 2 A.M. Pacific, hopefully it's the new ships (and maybe something else)!

Captain Jorden 08-04-2011 06:43 AM

Wouldn't it be released in test(again) before releasing to live.

Yes, it would, as these new ships have never had official testing. But that doesn't mean that this maintenance can't introduce the new ships to Test.
