Gold Cap Raise: The Debate

In all honesty, I voted No. At least, for the time being.

There is absolutely no reason why we need 200k gold at this time, with nothing to spend it on. You can buy every single ship in the game, and still have enough gold to splurge out on across the Caribbean.

Maybe when new ships, or more valuable pieces of clothing/weaponry arrive, we can raise the cap. But for now, it's not needed.

It would depend on what comes out... If the new ships are really expensive, maybe. But if the new clothes aren't that expensive we don't really need more gold. I have had over 100,000 for a really long time, now I am at max.

I said other. I would like the gold cap to be raised IF there was something to spend on. And I don't mean clothes that cost 5k. I mean something big, like 100K items.

I voted yes, but just because it wouldn't have to be a big update, so I would say no if Disney made a huge deal about it. Like Captain Del said, we don't really need it yet, but we might when the new ships come out.

Yes, but only to 215,000. We've seen the cost of the Ship of the Lines, and when they get released, I'd prefer to have a little bit of spending money left over. It's like the old War Frigate purchase. When you purchased the War Frigate 2 years back, you were left with not a single penny. They pushed the cap up to 65,000 to leave some pirates not stuck with a sunk War Frigate and no moolah to repair it. Increasing it to 215,000 WHEN Ship of the Lines come out is the only cap raise I see any time soon.

Aye we need extra gold like if we bought a Ship of the Line, so maybe to like 260,000 gold :) :bookishfj7: :piratewheelgo2:

One thing the staff should really consider is allowing pirates to trade or "set up shop" in Tortuga to sell items to other pirates. Really, there shouldn't be a gold cap.. you did after all plunder that gold fair and square :P But, if they were to increase the amount, items - especially for higher levels - should be raised.

I concur with Captain Del. Until we get something like the SotL (which is 200k), a higher cap is not needed.

But with pirates being able to set up "shops" and such and being able to sell to other pirates would cause as many community (and other) issues as trading would. People being cheated out, people just cheating in the first place, other things like that. I'd like to keep it simple and that we just buy things from merchants that are already on the island.

Back on topic, I voted no. I'd rather not have pirates running around saying "ZOMG I have 400K Gold!! Wait....I have nothing to spend it on...err..." And the fact, we don't need that much. In all honesty, we could survive with 150K gold just fine. 200K is just a bit too generous for me.

im not sure really i kinda want the cap raised thats why i said yes only cuz i have had max for a really long time now and its sad when i get like 500 gold in loot and it just goes POOF! into thin air instead of being collected so im like aww man when it comes to that but do we really need all that gold? nah not really only as like all the rest said when the ships come out and maybe the clothes if they say there like made of solid gold and worth 15k hahaha

No. If there was something to spend it on like a ship of the line right now then yes. But for now no.

I'd love to have the gold cap raise, but i wish things where more expensive. i mean, who buys a lighting cannon ball for $10???? one lighting cannon ball should cost about 100 gold. plundering is easy, and most pirates are rich. if your a low level with a light sloop, then you wont be needing a lot of gold to sustain your player. another thing is that i wish we could have trading. some people might be cheated, but we are pirates! well the new ships, the gold cap should be raised, i don't want to buy the SOTL and have no gold left.

Still don't see a point in ther gold cap.One deserves all that they have earned, but that is simply not the case I reckon. I would say yes to this, but I know POTCO could make the gold cap unlimited if they wanted to. We don't exactly need it, but it would be a good gesture to get all of the gold we actually earned.

With 18 pirates to manage the closest I've come to the current gold cap is about 1/4 of the way. Say what you ask? Well, my pirates are all different levels and over the past few months I've had 3 of them come into needing warships, and I have 3 or 4 more closing in on it again. Keeping gold for me is next to impossible. (Plus, I'm a clothes freak. LOL) For me, there's just no point in a cap raise yet.

Eventually you'll get so much gold that you're screen will be covered in numbers!

I voted Yes. I have Max gold right now, but if ships come out really costing 200k then I am down to compleat 0. And do not even have enough gold to go buy Ammo to stary to plunder with. Now for the gold caps to come out next week I do not think it would be needed. But as long as we can get more gold before a little before the new ships come out the that would be good. As James said, they should do what they did for the War Frigate. They made it so the War Frigate was 60k and max gold was 65k So you could buy the ship but still have some wiggle room with buying Repars, ammo etc..

Liberty to it, but they could program it so it says things like 1M when it gets high enough. Doesn't matter about the thousands amounts at that time because you will have a ridiculous amount of gold. But it would be best to earn what we get. All in all at the time the new weapons came out I got all kinds of rares and Famed weapons. I sold most of my rares, and some repeat Famed weapons and hit the gold cap with no issue. I surely have hit the 1M mark myself if I had anything to buy with all of that gold, but alas buying anything with that gold is limited.

I am not saying that it matters at this time to have no gold cap, but in preparation for ship customization or just new ships in the fututre I feel the Big D could forget about a cap. (Supposing I will even be around in 5 years that is.)

Its been closed but I have an idea. Why not have the option to bury your treasure somewhere. Your pirate can carry 200,000 but let him bury it and collect more. After all if you decide you want to change you weapon skills thats gonna drain your gold quick. Or if you want to rename your ship, you have to sell for half the price then repurchase at full price.

Because then I will forget where I put it >_<

They really don't need a new gold update until the new ships come out. :piratewheelgo2: Until then, I am happy having max gold. ^_^

I'm not! I'm pretty much at the cap, and I just won 1st place in my Feats of Strength! Now all that gold needs to go to waste... >.>
