SvS sailing/gunning skill setup
I've been in SvS for a while and i don't consider anyone including myself "the best" however i do have some experience in sailing and gunning in SvS and i would like to share with everyone.
Give SvS(ship pvp) a try, real fun. -PLAY FAIR, Have Fun and don't port big bounty as it takes fun away from others I recommend for sailing in SvS to use a war sloop and/or war frigate.(for new players to SvS) This is for levels 25 to 30 Sailing/Gunning For war frigate: (alone or with crew):pirate2do0: 1.Broadside Left and Right--3 to 5 skill points on each -also 5 skill points on round shot in cannon to increase broadside power 2.Full sail-- 1 skill point (its hard to run with war frigate therefore to many skill points are not needed, and running isn't fun) 3.come about and ramming speed-- 1 skill point on each (war frigates do damage when ramming enemy ship) 4.Open fire -- 3 skill points 5.take cover-- 5 skill points 6. Windcatcher and task master-- 5 skill points on each 7. tacking-- 3 skill points (need it for better turning) *good for close combat* MASTER YOUR SAILING SAIL WITH A CREW----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For war sloop: (based on sailing with a crew)-master your sailing:pirate2do0: 1. broadsides-- 1 to 3 skill points on each -also 5 skill points on round shot in cannon to increase broadside power 2. Full sail-- 3 to 5 skill points (sloops are fast) 3. come about -- 1 skill point 4. open fire-- 1 to 3 skill points 5. ramming speed--1 to 3 skill points 6. take cover-- 5 skill points 7. windcatcher and taskmaster--- 4 or 5 skill points EACH 8. tacking-- 1 to 3 skill points (need it for good turning) *good for close and distant range combat with a crew)* __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______________________________________________ Gunning: (for gunners):pirate41: 1.Shoot-- 5 skill points (shoot faster) 2.Fire, Thunder, and Fury -- 5 skill points each (5 skill points on round shot instead of fire if you are a sailor) 3.Rapid reload -- 5 skill points (shoot faster) 4.Barrage-- 5 skill points (more damage) *only fire, thunder and fury are good for SvS* MASTER YOUR GUNNING Please share the sailing/gunning skill setup and your opinion |
I think that Explosives is a good thing to have, because it helps breaks the panel quickly and then you can apply the fury, but that's just my opinion.
Overall, great job! |
Nice info that will help players new to svs very helpful mate.

Aye, svs is a great way to improve your skills.
|

The Reason i wouldn't waste any skill points in explosive in svs is because: -its to slow on recharge -hard to aim -close range only This is my opinion, i'm sure there is someone that is good with explosives. |
Good way to help new players on svs and i wanted to say explosive is great if you have a ptiming or iron priming ram. i like your dedication to this part of the game!

Follow this if you just started svs(might not work for everyone)

Good job
If used correctly with the other tips you posted and a crew these actually work in svs. I was imressed by the results i got after using this sailing/gunning setup and aplying the tips with some of my friends. They are also good for sinking eitc and navy ships fast but they are more deadly in svs.

A Player who mastered sailing and cannon can use the same pirate to be a sailor and a gunner when in cannon they put 5 skill points in round shot instead of fire to increase damage on broadsides
|
The first posts above is for levels 25 to 30 sailing/gunning. A lot don't have mastered sailing so i'm gonna give what i think is best to set up sailing for svs for levels between 20 to 25 sailing.
For war sloop: (based on sailing with a crew) 1. broadsides-- 1 to 3 skill points on each -also 5 skill points on round shot in cannon to increase broadside power 2. Full sail-- 3 or 4 skill points (sloops are fast) 3. come about -- 1 skill point 4. open fire-- 1 to 3 skill points 5. ramming speed--1 to 2 skill points 6. take cover-- 5 skill points(a must) 7. windcatcher -- 4 or 5 skill points 8. tacking-- 1 or 2 skill points (need it for good turning) *good for close and distant range combat with a crew* Try to master sailing Cannon for SvS This is a Recomended set up for svs Cannon level 20 to 25: Shoot - 4 or 5 skill points Rapid reload - 4 or 5 skill points Barrage - 4 or 5 skill points Fury - 4 or 5 skill points Lighting - 4 or 5 skill points * Use a fury or thunder cannon ram (can get them from cannon defense) |
If you mates have any questions regarding SvS on setting up Sailing or gunning or SvS tips, feel free to ask!

How to counter light sloops, and what do you do if your in a war frigate facing several ships much more maneuverable than you?
Sorry for the hard questions, but I'm sure a lot of people are asking the same thing :) |

2. Facing several ships more maneuverable than you or as its called "teaming" happens very often. You can fight repair, fight, repair... however this can be complicated since all of them can get close at you at the same time. Running on a straight line but turning slowly can help since you will stay at top speed and turning in circles keeping ships on one side. Try to keep the ships on one side and don't let them put you in the middle. Than you slowly fight them one by one. It would be best to Not run off to far though as it spreads ships to much out and less battle are fought. Hope this helps:piratear: |
Is Leadership a good skill to have? I may work on Black Pearl, if it is good for SvS.
|
Leadership has a bug. If you use leadership for faster reload and then you press that skill as soon as it recharges, there is a high chance of that skill failing or fizzling. I'll try to make a video of what i mean bu in my opinion your chances of doing good are about the same with or with out it...

Thanks for warning us. I wondered what was wrong lol
