How to open Phase Files?
Hiya ppl! Recently I've been curious about the phase files. So I skimmed through almost everything on Google and got nothing useful. I know to go to Program Files - Disney - Disney Online - Pirates Online - and then to Phases 1-5. On phase_1, I right-click it then open with Pview. But the Pview screen is grey, with no models :sadmh9: Anything I miss??
|
People explain it on here but dont give all the steps. Plus lets leave the files to Speedway hes more of a expert on those. Usually you should not be on the Files.
|
Have you got Panda3D downloaded? Get the newest version of it, then follow JeffreyHookgrin's steps:
"I just opened a phase file from the current live version 1.0.28.6 using Panda3D 1.7.0 and it worked fine. I believe Panda has the ability to encrypt the phase files so if they decide that all of this phase file exposing is detrimental they could easily lock us out, but on the other hand, it is free advertising for what is coming up. Make sure you are accessing the files correctly, these are not like regular files that you can open. The short description is: Copy the phase file to your current user folder (The folder for the profile you are currently logged in to). (Make sure Multify has been copied there as well from the Panda3D program folder) Run CMD, enter: multify -x -f phase_4.mf {that would be for phase file #4, change accordingly} A folder with the name of the phase file is created in the same user folder you are working in, the contents are in that folder." (Copied from an earlier thread. http://piratesonlineforums.com/forum...ighlight=phase. All the steps are listed...) Just be sure you're putting spaces in the appropriate places when doing the typing. I see nothing wrong with viewing the phase files, so long as you don't delete anything, move anything around, etc. Use common sense. I have made copies of the majority of the game's music from the phase files and never had an issue. I don't view the graphics stuff (no desire) but I would wager it's the same concept. |
I tried opening them but searches for Multifly but it was a no show.
|
OHHHHH! I've got Panda 3D- 1.5.3! I am going to upgrade right now.
|
So I have to have the latest version to open .bam files?
|
Multify.exe (note the spelling...) is in the "bin" folder, under your main Panda3D folder. Phase files should be listed in your "Pirates Online" folder. When I copy them, I typically paste in my generic "My Documents" folder as it's simple to get to if I want to open the phase files again once I've used Panda3D. You should just be able to copy/paste multify.exe and the phase_#.mf files, then run your command prompt and type exactly what's listed above. Keep your folder where you pasted the multify.exe open, you should see the phase file folder pop up if done correctly. (NOTE: This is exactly how I've done it on my computer, which has Vista as the operating system...don't know that it would be very different for another OS but it might be worth mentioning.)
Nate, as far as the .bam files go...I have no idea. Don't actually know what they are or what they're for, I don't bother with them. LOL. I only learned myself on the phase files so I could access the game's music to put on my iPod. |
Okay. Thanks for the info, Stella. But my Libpandaexpress.dll is not letting my use Multify. It says:
Entry Not Found The procedure entry point (bla bla bla bla bla bla ) could not be located in the dynamic link library libpandaexpress.dll. Any ideas on how I can fix this? EDIT: I do operate with Vista. |
0.o Oh my...I've never seen a message like that before, Nate. I've no idea what to tell you. I've never had any encounter with the .dll files before...wish I could be of more help. It shouldn't be an issue to just right click multify, do a copy, then paste the copy somewhere else. Are you using the Panda3d version 1.7.0? I had problems when using an older copy, and also when I tried the first link on their download page (can't remember what it says, but the 1.7.0 says 'developer' or some such thing). Maybe could do a full uninstall on Panda and reinstall it, see if that resets something?

For PC: Go to: My Computer. Click: Local Disk (C:). Go to Documents and Settings, then your users name and copy Multify and the Phase File you want to open there. Go to Command Prompt (which is under Accessories in the all programs list.) and type in: multify -x -f phase_#.mf (# being the number of the phase file you want opened. Ex: for phase_1.mf you type: multify -x -f phase_1.mf. Adjust accordingly) After that, a folder will be opened on your Documents and Settings folder. You can open it like any other. Hope that helps. :\ BAM files are a headache. Pview used to be used, but now I can only view stuff in the Cache with it. And please, don't let Disney scare you into thinking it's hacking. It's not unless you change it. And Titanic, the reason people don't usually explain it well is because there are several different ways to do it, and it's a headache to go through all the steps. Not because we don't know what we're doing. |

Also, is the Users folder you're talking about on Program Files or or the Network Group, where your main folder is? |
Using multify -x -f phase_# shouldn't have anything to do with the pandaexpress.dll. What version are you using? Panda3D Runtime for End-Users or the SDK? I haven't tried it with the End-Users version, and doubt it will work. It does work with SDK, though, I know.

I only have HP (C :) not local disk using windows 7.
|
It works differently on all operating systems, methinks. For XP the above posted works. Later, IDK.

can you see bad guys who drop lgendary place? lol

WAIT! Oh lol. I did download the wrong thing. In fact, I'm downloading the correct one right now. Thanks Dan, I'll update you in a bit :) |
Where Documents and Settings?

Well I opend my C drive and whats my user name or how do I find out?
|
Thanks for the help, Dan! LOL. Hope you figure it out Nate.
As for you titanic...I would assume (not overly familiar with Windows 7 yet) but you should have a folder on the computer somewhere either titled "____ Documents" with your name in the blank, or simply "My Documents". If you are the only user on the computer then you don't need a user name, there should only be one My Documents/___'s Documents folder. Forgive me if I'm not overly helpful here, I only have minimal Windows 7 use so I don't know what looks different from my system. |
Im trying to open Multifly but I open right when I open it it closes itself out. Anyway how to stop this?
|
You don't need to be opening it (ie. double-clicking it). It opens/closes itself on my computer too when I double-click it. The steps I posted via Jeffrey from the previous thread on this are all you need to be doing. There is nothing to do with multify.exe in this case other than:
Right-click multify.exe, select 'copy', go to the folder of your choice, right-click and select 'paste'; do the same thing with the 'phase_#.mf' files listed under the POTCO folder. Do NOT move them, copy/paste them. Then open your command prompt and type exactly what is listed earlier in the thread, hit enter, and you should have a phase file folder which you can double-click to open. (I don't use Panda for anything other than viewing the phase files via the exact method above. If you're interested in actually using Panda for something else and learning about it, I can't help you out much. LOL.) Good luck, mate! |
I typed multify -x -f phase_4.mf exactly like you said but it said its not found. Am I missing something here?

1.) After copying Multify (from the Panda3D-1.7.0 folder), go to: C:\Documents and Settings\??? (from My Computer, ??? would be your name, I guess. Whatever the username for your computer is at the log-in screen.) 2.) Paste Multify here. 3.) Go to: C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\PiratesOnline and copy a phase file. Ex: phase_1.mf 4.) Go back to C:\Documents and Settings\??? and paste the phase_1 here. 5.) Go to CMD (or Command Prompt, you can find it in All Programs\Accessories) 6.) Type multify -x -f phase_1.mf in CMD. (Adjust the number for the Phase File number) 7.) Hit Enter. If nothing appears below it, YOU'VE DONE IT RIGHT. 8.) Go to C:\Documents and Settings\??? 9.) You should now have a copy of the phase file, in a regular folder. It is easy to view music/sfx and maps, but don't ask me about the models. :P 10.) Repeat with all other phase files. 11.) You should now have all the phase files in Documents and Settings. Enjoy! I hope this helps, because I worked hard on it. If anyone needs any help, PM me. I'll be glad to (try to :laughks2:) guide you through the confusing process. POSTSCRIPT: Many people confuse My Documents with Documents and Settings, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. Make absolutely sure to go to Documents and Settings, in My Computer, if you want to do it the posted way. ANOTHER Postscript: As Stella said, I have minimal Windows 7 experience also. I can help you a lot on older OS's, but I know nothing about Windows 7. To me, 7 likes to keep you out of those files, just so they don't chance someone deleting an .exe file that is required for Windows. As far as I know, it shouldn't stray too much from those directions. Good luck! |
Well, before I do anything else I cant find "Documents and Settings".
|
Should be right on (C:). If not, blame Windows 7.
|
Found that it was "Users" for Documents and Settings. After talking to a HP representive they finally say its the users folder. The issue I have now is CMD prompt said they cant find anything and typed EXACTLY that I read.
|
I have no idea. Blame Windows 7.
|
Ok Dan, I'm in the phase files! I can listen to audios, view maps, but the models have a problem. With most of the models, they have .bam version 6.24! Pview only reads 6.14 to 6.22. How can I get something that reads version 6.24?

As for .bam files, I dunno. I'm, in fact, looking through Panda3D for a solution as I speak. If I find a workaround (besides Pview, which used to work) I'll let you guys know. Time to listen to music and do some more AFK on 'Tuga. :laughks2:
