Will there be any trading developed in PotCO?
Since beta is over but the test server still is open for testing, will PotCO ever instate a trading system?
|
what would we trade? as of right now nothing really to trade
|
I'm not sure if stuff will be traded. As Badpete said, there is barely anything to trade.
|
The only thing you might possibly be able to trade is gold, but that's it. We can't even trade valuables that we get from killing certain enemies, nor can we sell them.
|
I'd love a trading aspect to the game.
|
In phase 1 they did. But I guess you could trade collectables in your treasures.
|
Yeah, That would be a great addition to the game :dancetl6:

Trading be neccesary to the enterprising pirate!
Eve'
The way I see it? Trading is entirely neccesary to a game that's intended to support thousands upon thousands of players. If anyone pretends that the majority of the community base isn't here for the rest of the community, and not blowing up ships (though that be a wonderous act, filled with delight and fuzzyness without measure) then they're just trying to get attention. :degen: A trading function is neccesary, not just a fun addition in my not so humble opinion to a game such as this :tongue8: ...one that I think would improve the gameplay greatly. In fact, so much so that I intend on parenting a poll in the Polls and Surveys Thread soon once I can confirm that there is in fact, no trade function. Something of which I really do have a hard time believing :huh8: If nothing else it's nice to see I have at least a few allies, and if I can gain enough support, I'll petition the game developers to impliment at least a basic trading function, for obvious reasons. - mercriseing.inc |
Trading is important IF there was something to trade. The only things you can trade is stuff you can buy from the store (like venom shot and grenades) and other stuff if they put in trading.
|
Did pirates trade though? I thought they just plundered the trade routes.
I don't see the necessity of trade on this game, especially when we all have an equal chance of aquiring items. Also I'm not sure I'm ready to see the rich/poor side of people. Had enough of that on VMK. On this game the envy is already there with the level your at and the ship you have. What would we trade really? |
A used boat sale would be great. When getting that upgrade, you could sell your boat for over half its value, and buy the new one for less than full price.

Money, mate.
Evening ^-^
If we could trade me and my Captain would be proud owners of a War Galleon by now, instead of only half way there. If we could trade, even if it were for petty items such as napkins and tangerine gauntlets and other silly favors, it would give the developers an excuse to allow us to customize our clothing as so much of the community is already wishing we could. If we could trade we could do alot of different things... and while that isn't much incentive for some players, the sense of community would be enhanced if nothing else. As I posted earlier my intent on this game is not to "Be the baddest a** pirate/captain possible with the meanest crew and the biggest guns to kill the most men and creatures with the most fire and boomdeathpwnage!!" ...not that, that is not a fine goal to have, setting your dreams high is an awesome thing to do in my opinion, but again I am here for the community, and there isn't much of a communal feeling to a community that can not interact with one another beyond at the point of a sword. Granted it's not for everyone, but if the Captains didn't have gunners, the ships wouldn't have Crews, and the seas wouldn't have pirates, nor navy dogs nor lore to boot. In the same light, if gunslingers didn't have sword savvy mates, they wouldn't have range for their aim, and swordsmen/women wouldn't have eyes to their aft without gunslinger mates of their own. I'll not elaborate on Voodoo healing, being as my point that contrasts compliment each other has already been made. Did pirates trade? Davey Jones traded Jack Sparrows' debt for 100 souls of worthy or otherwise caliber, William Turner traded Jack Sparrows compass for the 'alliegance' of the Eastern India Trading Company, and Jack Sparrow himself traded imortality on the high seas for love. Of course pirates traded, but all of this paling in contrast to the simple fact that thousands upon thousands of people all playing a single game not being able to trade anything at all is as much of a contradiction as having a trading engine without anything to trade. If there aren't items to trade, implement some. If there isn't time to do as much, permit the trade of gold in the least for obvious applications and reasons. This is my case. I'm not upset by anyone having a different opinion than me, and respect all of the posts made on this thread. I simply wish to make a strong case now, that I may one day be able to support my loyal Crew and superior Captain properly. - mercriseing.inc |
I would be happy with a happy medium of trading items but not gold.
If I were to find a quote from the developers they did plan on implementing trading so it is in their minds, they must have scrapped it for a later date to get the game out faster. /me looks for quote.... EDIT: Here it is.... Grow your wealth with money and rare items - Hunt for buried treasure including gold, precious gems and mysterious artifacts. Trade these bounties among other pirates in the open market economy. |
This game isn't near to be detailed. There would be cloth upgrades, like armours with bonus effects, some unique weapons..
I can't believe we are stuck with some clothes wore on us while starting the game . |
Yeah in all seriousness, I'm pretty annoyed at how superficial this game is right now. What they've implemented is pretty solid, but they don't really have a lot. This is the first time I've been in on a launch of an MMO, so I don't know if this is typical or what.
I know that this is a Disney game, so supposidly it should be geared towards kids, but it's also an MMO, so a month from now it'll be all teens-20s playing it. Maybe they should have seas for kids with no trading, pirates code and simplistic leveling, and seas for more "mature" players with more advanced options. I wanna be able to shoot navy boys! |
Yeh, seems uber basic, and I would so much like to start a new character with one of the frigates I have now or atleast a nice gold outlay...
|
You can shoot Navy guys with steel shot. I think it's from level 18.

Wow is a lot detailed, even for einstein i think and i know some kids playing that.
Knight Online also, i know kids from primary school plays it. Maybe too detailed is too detailed, but at least they can make potco detaily balanced. As i mentioned before, Trade, armour upgrades, weapon upgrades, and "real skill updates" and i am not talking about a few like we have now. |
If you look at every fun game,Eve, Wow, Eq, GW,CoH... there is traid. This game is very limited, and while I understand they were trying to get it out, it is not going to last with out some major updates/ added content. Trade, better chat, classes?, armor or at least new clothing, weapons.... the list goes on and on. If these and other things dont get implimented and fast, i dont see this game lasting more then a few months. I mean all ready in just what 9 days, people have hit the end of the story line. Lets face it were all paying to be bata testers now. I know about a half dozen people including myself that dont intend to renew our subscription if there are't some changes made, and with that half doze people come another doze or so new players, who arnt joing the game untill we see what happens. I hope the developers read these forms and take all of the sugestions to hart.

If there was trade in this game, I would love this even more. Like my crew/guild could donate so we could afford bigger ships. |
I have seen too many Game economies wrecked by in-game trading. I actually like the POTCO does not have any - as once they "artifacts" aka uber-weapons - the game items for real $$ starts. Ultima Online is still trying to "fix" their wrecked economy. Just my opinion.
|
In my opinion, I really don't see the need for trading.
|
Trading gold.. bad idea, mates. Anything else sure.. but there's nothing else of value, money is the only real value, and it's a bad idea.. a really bad one.
But.. too many people want it, it wil come to pass I fear. People are too afraid to get what they want on their own. They want what they want, and want it now.. then enter RMT.. It's just a matter of when. Depending on how bad they allow RMT to control thier game... here's hoping Disney figure out how to do it, without the impact of other MMO's, like XI, and more like WoW. |
The problem with being able to trade anything (ships or money) is that the Gold Farmers will appear and ruin the game. You won't stand a chance against them. They are in it for the money.

Anywho, gold trading and giving is pretty much useless until clothing items and all that good stuff comes out. What would you do with it, buy a Frigate? Until the treasures are tradeable too, there is no point in giving gold. |
Hey, If they do implement trading of items clothing and such Ive got a fancy, bright orange, opene, short sleeved shirt Id be happy to sell for 9k! :)

It would be nice to have a guild bank, where each member (depending on their rank) can spend a certain amount of guild money each day. |
