What Would You Like Trading To Be Like?

When trading comes out, what would you like the system to be like?

Red River Raven 10-12-2010 03:53 AM

It would be very cool to have a large open market place where pirates would pay rent for a stall to display the goods they would like to trade. The market place could also have sellers stalls for things like custom sails for ships.

Chimera Doll 10-12-2010 04:32 AM

Something similar to what Red said.
Really doesn't matter to me, just if they find a simple way of getting trading out there!

Tiberius Fireskull 10-12-2010 05:01 AM

There should be open auctions, and private trades. Open auctions would be something like this: You can press a button in your sea chest, and it shows any current auctions going on. You can bid gold, or put in weapons. The person who is auctioning their item off can put in a comment below the image of the item what they would like. Ex: I would prefer to get a famed cursed blade rather than gold. Also, you could broadcast a type of weapon that you are looking for, and see if any matches come up.

For private trading, you and a friend would go into a private area, and see each other's inventory. You would then make offers, and keep making offers until one person backs down, or until a deal is made.

titanic95594 10-12-2010 06:19 AM

^ I love the actuation idea. For me I think there should be a trade system where once yall have the things you want to trade both have to type there password stating that there trading and the trade will not happen untill both have agreed the trade. To prevent getting ripped off.

seafox 10-12-2010 07:12 AM

First off, I don't think private trading will happen...as disney doesn't want kids to get ripped off in unfair trades. However, theres no reason auctions won't happen.. I would also like to see trading with the exising merchants. Trade a sword for a different sword...etc. Within the same value range, or you get gold or credit for balance. If the ships come out...whose gonna have money left to buy anything after all :)

I reckon that sounds like a great idea, i hope oneday disney does consider trading.

Sven Ironwalker 10-12-2010 03:29 PM

I think that the private trade idea is not a good one as this has been a source for countless problems in gaming and there have been two international news incidents including one country where they are getting RL court sentencing as result of personal trading... stuff that Disney should not get involved with.

That being said I think it should be limited to Guild and public trading.

With the public trading I think it should be done somewhat like a mini game set up where the market places are set up in places like Tortuga. There has always been a food type stand on every island so why not make it do something.

Inner guild trading is something that a guild itself can somewhat police. Sure there will be issues but it does come to a close second of personal trading with some policing going on. This would allow guild members to post items for trade in a guild trade that guild members could pick up... still not a one to one but can actually work out to a one to one that all can see. This would also create a greater degree of guild competitiveness as trading would be a factor in choosing a guild.

Tiberius Fireskull 10-12-2010 11:31 PM

I still think private trading is a good idea, but it should be only within friends, crew, and guild. I don't want random players coming up and offering me 5 gold in the hopes that it will make me want to be their friends. Also, there should be a gifting system. Hey its my friends birthday! Here is 10,000 gold! See what I mean?

Roger Sharkshot 10-12-2010 11:46 PM

well for the personal trading it should be with friends crew mates and guild and so it would be fair there could be a meter saying if the trade is fair and if its not completely fair but not too unfair the person who gets the unfair deal could be asked are you sure you want to make this trade it is not completely fair and if the person doesnt like the trade they say no and keep going or back down and if a person trades it then they get mad thats their problem they said it was ok and this system has worked out in many other games so that how i see it and yes i agree with the public trading auction thing and it would be great if we did it in the useless market place they made somebody should send disney an email with the link to this thread

Chimera Doll 10-13-2010 12:27 AM

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said.
One thing I think should be a must is where you can trade something to a friend for nothing in return. Or a gifting system like Davy mentioned.
I know I'd be willing to give close friends an item for nothing in return.

Stephen O'Malley 10-13-2010 12:28 AM

I would like POTCo's trading to be similar to Pokémon's GTS. You would be able to trade with a specific person, or with random people blindly. Select your article of clothing, your weapon, your cheat card, etc., then select what you want from a list. Or you can trade with a friend.

For example, let's say I wanted to trade Cajun Cannon Ram. At whatever stand/building/NPC you do this at, you select the Cajun Cannon Ram from your inventory, then a screen comes up with various tabs. You can select a specific weapon, clothing article, etc. that you want, and wait. If someone chooses your item and offers what you want, you will be notified and asked if you want to confirm the trade. If you select yes, POTCo will automatically complete the trade and you can run back to the stand and pick up your item. From this same stand, you can view what's up for trade.

To keep some degree of fairness, when trading with random players you can only trade for items of the same or greater rarity, and can only receive items of which your weapon's level is greater than or equal to the specified weapon's requirements. For example, if I wanted to receive a Blightfang Edge (which requires Lv. 30 sword and is famed), I would have to put up a weapon that is famed or legendary and I would need to have a Lv. 30 sword.

However, those limits would disappear with pirates on your friend's list or are in your guild.

I don't know what Disney has in mind, it's just a thought...

Sounds similar to some of the other posts, but here's what I think:

When you go in to your Sea Chest, in the Inventory Tab, near the "Redeem Code" Button, there can be a similar button that says "Trading." When you hit this button, it opens a separate pop-up from the Sea Chest, so that you can keep your inventory open.

In this little pop-up will be an auction house. Opening it will give you a list (scroll-down) of all the auctions that are open on your server. Each bar will describe which item is up for auction (with a picture of it from the owner's inventory), who is putting it up for grabs, what the current bid is, and what the buyout price is. (Explain that in a minute.)

Clicking on the bar pertaining to that auction will bring you to the screen for the auction. This will provide a description by the seller, the card for the weapon/item, the current bid, when the auction will close, and the buyout. At the bottom, there will also be an automatically updating box (like a chat box, only not,) that says what's going on in the auction. For example:

*Joe Shmoe bid 800 gold.
*Tom bid 900 gold.
*Joe Shmoe bid 1000 gold.
***Henry McRectangular Trousers bought out the auction for 2,500 gold.***

When somebody wins an auction, or buys out the auction, the transaction will automatically be made.

If somebody wants to set up an auction, they can go to a button at the bottom of the trading screen, that says "New Auction." Here, a new screen will open, that specifies what auction entails.

First, the pirate will drag which item they want to put up from their inventory (which opens automatically with the New Auction screen opening) in to a little box.

Next, they type a description. So, say I put up for auction a Lucky Charm. I could put as my description:

Quote:

This Charm is greating for plundering ships outs in the seas! I can guarantee you a lot of gold with this little thing!
Next, you would set the prices. You can set two things: the starting price, and the buyout. The starting price is at what amount of gold the auction starts off at.

The buyout is what you are willing to end the auction for, if you were to get that. So, say I put up for auction a Seven Seas Cutlass, and set the buyout as an Admiral's Cutlass. If Billy from down the block sees that I want an Admiral Cutlass for an SS, and he's willing to make that trade, then he can put down the buyout, and he automatically wins the auction, with the trade being made automatically.

Finally, the seller will set when they want the auction to end, in the case nobody satisfies the buyout.

A "Bargain" option can also be made in an auction, where two pirates, the prospective buyer and the seller can bargain the deal of the auction. So, if Billy wants my SS, but only has a Vice Admiral's Cutlass, he can bargain with me, and maybe we can set a deal.

There will also be a button on the player card of each pirate, which can be used for private trades. When a person requests to trade, the person being asked to trade will recieve a "Would you like to trade with *******?" If they say yes, a pop-up is created, which contains a chatbox, for talking between the two traders, and a box for each trader, where they can put there items up.

So, say that Billy wants to give me 10,000 gold for my birthday. He'll open up a trade with me, and offer to trade 10,000 gold, in exchange for nothing. Both of us will recieve a pop up after bother of us finalize our deal (via a button,) where we'll both click yes. However, to prevent theft of unaware pirates, a popu-up will come up in this case saying, "This trade is unfair pertaining to the contents. Do you wish to continue?", where both of us will have to click yes to finalize our deal.

Of course, at any time, an auction or trade can either be closed, for modified, by wish of the creator.

Just my ideas.

swordshot 10-13-2010 01:13 AM

I hope it will be like planet cozmo. You just click on a person, ask them to trade ( a button) and pick something you wanna trade that they have and then they pick what you have. Or you can pick one of YOUR items and they pick one of THEIR items :P

Tiberius Fireskull 10-13-2010 01:30 AM

Like your ideas Del. Nothing more to be said.

Jack Shipsteel 10-13-2010 02:10 AM

Love it if it was like bidding in the real world.. where either you can particpate in regular auctions of silent auctions.

In regular auctions, a group of 5+ people need to gether in front of a stall in order for bidding to take place. One person would have already come up and bought the stall for a time and put up an item for sale. Each person bids until somebody wins.

In Silent Auctions, a booth is left open with the words silent auction on the table. Somebody can elect to put an item up there, and for a period of 1 hour to 1 day, depending on what the seller sets, people can bet on it silently by clicking on the item that's presented on the table.

And for a trading system.. each person is allowed to set up a trading booth, anywhere, anytime. People can come up to this booth and talk with the seller, and they will start pawning items with each other. When both sides agree to the trae set forth, they press on a Confirm Item button, which locks the item in. When the other person locks an item in, you can choose whether or not to accept the trade. If you deny the trade, you go back to the drawing board and restart the trade.

shaodwfan00 10-23-2010 09:18 PM

Well, i would like it to be like able to trade any amount of gold or any item... but that's just me probably:knife:

I like the idea where you can rent a space to set up a stall, then you inventory would pop up. you would take what ye want from your inventory, put it for sail on decide the price. its totally fool proof, unlike poker or blackjack where ye may loose money.

christopher cannonskull 10-29-2010 02:50 AM

it just needs to be simple a pirates sea chest on the sides of the screen and in the middle the area where u drag items to trade and a option to give gold to and other things like playing cards so all the people had to do is drag a item into a box or several items then hit trade and switch items

charles gunfury 10-29-2010 03:06 AM

didnt they have trading a long time ago if so why did they it out-_-:h-skull:

MatthewCoalrage 10-29-2010 06:04 PM

Alright, i believe it should be a small button in the player window and once you click it get the would you like to trade with whoever pop-up and then if the person says yes then a trade commences where clothes weapons and gold are tradeable

Captain Jason 10-29-2010 09:31 PM

I love Captain Del's idea, and it was similar to my own. I hope that's how it turns out to be...

Roger Sharkshot 10-29-2010 09:58 PM

it has to be simple but not too simple it has to be like christopher cannonskull said and like a bid also

Ultima 10-31-2010 01:34 AM

My thouts every item should have a set cost for when trading set by the pirates online
team because we got to think about the kids who play the game so nobody will target them.

Captain Jason 10-31-2010 03:59 PM

Then what's the point of trading? If disney thinks that 2000 gold is fair for the lost sword, and you can't change the price, then what's the point? You could just sell it quickly to a shop owner. If it was like this then it would totally ruin my buisness. - Points to subtitle -

Chalupa 12-02-2010 05:44 AM

I agree with Captain Del

The Stealthy Pirate 12-14-2010 11:16 PM

Im with the auction idea, becuase it is a good way to get money fast and its pretty hard to get a lot of money quickly..

Dragon Firestorm 01-24-2011 09:03 PM

I would at least like to be able to give a friend something they want or need with out asking for anything in return. I know people who have gotten the Silver Freeze a couple of times. There should be a way they can pass it on to there friends if needed. Or if someone is more active and has just about everything they want and they are at the max gold. Why cant they give some to friends...make it easier than sitting down and going back and forth at poker. Theres something else they could add... bet weapons on poker and blackjack
