Senior Players

Well, how many of you have been playing this game actively for over two years? I have, and I know many of you other players have as well. I was just thinking, wouldn't it be kind of cool to be recognized for being a long time, active player? My thought was that people who have played X amount of time per month, for two years, could get a silver (but make sure it is distinguished from grey!) name tag, with a silver coin next to it with an 'S'. 'S' for senior. The name tag would look similar to founder, just silver and with an 'S'. No special advantages or anything, just a little recognition.

Chimera Doll 09-30-2010 04:32 AM

Aye I have played for over two years and I like your idea a lot! Would be really nice; especially to recognize other long time players!

Delirious 09-30-2010 04:35 AM

I have played for about the same amount of time also.... Sounds like a great idea to me too

katcrestrage 09-30-2010 01:33 PM

If I could like this stat... err I mean, I agree! I love this idea! Something awesome like that, is too good to pass up! Maybe I should start sending Disney some e-mail suggestions..... >:]

edit: I've been playing since July of 2008.

Sven Osymthe 09-30-2010 01:43 PM

I like the idea, but it's really not necessary. The only recognition that made sense was to have people from the very beginning be recognized as founders. Even so, it's just a new color for our name and a coin next to it.. although it would be nice, it makes no difference.

I'm another one who has been playing for over two years, Sadly I deleted my first mastered pirate a couple weeks ago in order to make room for a new pirate.

I started in April of "08"

I deleted a few me self, including my first level 40 master. Then the level cap got bumped a few months later!

So I am keeping my primary account, and now have a secondary account, and a basic account. My primary account has 3 lvl 50 full weapon masters and the fourth is 49 and a full weapon master. On my secondary they are in the 30's.

Disney could give me a test account over any other type of recognition in my opinion! Been on the list for way too long!

titanic95594 10-06-2010 08:07 PM

I have been playing the game for like the end of "08". I stopped playing for little then played again and noticed lots of changes!

Captain Jason 11-02-2010 04:58 AM

That would be pretty cool, I would enjoy that, as I have been playing since sometime in 07 or 08.

Charles Darkwolf 11-02-2010 05:16 AM

I've been playing since July of 2008, and wouldn't mind a little recognition for being loyal to the game. I was thinking of something like this a year ago Davy, but had long since forgot all about it. Thanks for refreshing my mind!

Kat Five Knives 11-02-2010 12:04 PM

I agree it would be nice.. At least when we make a new pirate people will know we may be low level but we have experience and they can trust us to provide accurate information when they need help. And it would also help us to recognize each other in the game - regardless of level. I would never want to take anything away from the founders.. so I do like the idea of something simple like a different colored name.

I totally agree Davy! Ive been playing for 2 years. We should have at least a little recognition.:pirate30:

I like your idea mate. i have been playing for about a year, but i posted this bc some jerk might brag about it. its a good idea, but we dont want someone to use this the wrong way.

Chris 11-02-2010 04:46 PM

I have been paying and playing the game since October 31st 2007, granted I have gone several months at a time without logging in actively.

Codex 11-02-2010 09:58 PM

I love this idea! I started playing POTCO late December of '07 and have been off and on playing since then. I'm not thrilled about a different name color, I think it would be excessive between founders/basic accounts/unlimited access, BUT there are other games that use player titles. For example I have "4-Year Veteran" on one of my characters in another game. Veteran titles would only be the beginning for them too. Like for example, after gaining the Black Pearl back for Jack we could get the title "Commandeer Master" or for completing both privateer quests we could get "Scourge of the Seas." Well you get the idea. I'm not sure if Disney would go for the idea but hey, it would be a really nice addition to the game.

Jack Shipsteel 11-02-2010 10:32 PM

The "Recognition" here is something that doesn't need to be listed as plain as plain can be. Yes, Founders have the Founder sign. Yes, GMs have the Game Master sign, so in many eyes, why can't the veterans have it?

Because Senior players don't need a sign to explain that they've played the game for a few years. Those who have played the game longer than others will know more than those who just recently started. They have been in events others haven't, they have been in and seen guilds others haven't, and they just know the game better.

I have played the game for just over a year now, but I've had an account since January of 2008. I remember the old Port Royal and old Tortuga as clear as the new ones. I remember that Port Royal and Fort Charles used to just be in the same place, no doors to pass through, just as easy as passing over a bridge and walking a little bit. Many don't. Ask a random player on the streets of Padres whether they liked the old Port Royal, and 7 out of 10 times the response will be, "Old Port Royal?"

Having recognition for being an oldie could be nice, but it's unessecary. We don't need a title next to our names in order for people to recognize us. We know how long we've played, we know all the old glitches. We, in our own minds, know we have played long.

And of course, you'd have to explain why you have a silver "S" next to your name to any new pirate.

pieisbetter2 11-02-2010 10:45 PM

I myself have been playing since the game came out of beta, but sadly i didn't have unlimited at the time, so i rode the basic train all the way until i got a game card. But it would be nice to be recognized ya know?

JM Ohara 11-03-2010 12:43 AM

Ok, yeah, having a distinction for veteran players would be nice. But how do you define a veteran player? A year? Two? To be fair you would have to recognize year marks. Which would need to be updated once a year. Not very practical. That said, I've been playing a year and a half. I don't really care if D recognizes that or not. I'm happy knowing I know a lot about the game, being able to offer help to those in need, and just playing the game. I don't really need anything else.

CarribeanThunder 11-03-2010 01:14 AM

I've been playing since the end of December of '07 (or whatever day that was a few days after the deadline for being a Founder). I had lots of fun playing the game back in those days, especially with the epicly calming old Sailing theme that played while no one was at the wheel.
I miss that old feeling I would get when I woke up each morning to get onto my laptop to go straight to Kingshead to train my Grenades.

swordshot 11-03-2010 01:22 AM

maybe we could buy pets.. or an island for guilds... or forts for guilds..... or little rooms in boat were you can buy ammo..... or.... Anywho AMAZING idea! if i was active... :D

Fillyteen 11-03-2010 07:20 AM

I started playing as soon as the game was being tested, like before it went to open servers which was uh.... I can't remember lol

Captain NightWolf 11-03-2010 01:04 PM

Like POTCO, another game is going through the same thing in terms of years out now...that game being Team Fortress 2...what they did was release a badge of honor of sorts which came in 3 types: gold being for those that were playing the game since the beginning, a silver and then a bronze...I have the gold which denotes me being a "grizzled veteran"...

Now mind you Valve and Steam track these sorts of things in regards to their players...I'm sure Big D also could look up when a Pirate first started out and do something similiar if they truly wanted to...a gold for 3 years, a silver for 2 years and bronze if ye been playing for just a year...

Many such as myself did start playing right after the cut-off for the Founders...recognition could be a nice thing because it would let others know we've been through the catacombs and caverns, we've sailed the seas and pirated eevery island, etc...thus if they should ever need help on a quest or just some advice on leveling, along with the Founders we "veterans" could also be there to help them out...we do anyways but a badge or even a nice Pirate outfit exclusive to veterans would be nice...

James Bladefury 11-03-2010 04:35 PM

Maybe a Silver Coin?

Adhy 18 11-03-2010 05:43 PM

ha ha,. yep,. we need something different,. its hard to me to get membership since i start play at march '08 from my country (indonesia). at least they will add exeption for me to buy membership with my credit card,. u know,. disney not accept CC from outside of U.S and Canada. and so far i still pay membership by asking help from friends.

WitchdoctorDan 11-03-2010 07:02 PM

To me, it would be something that Disney would have to constantly update. Like the leaderboards. And we all know how good D did with them (sarcasm). So, while it would be nice, it would be one more thing for D to keep up with, and you know how some people are... Someone will definitely end up thinking they're better than everyone without one. While I have played since 2008, and would like some kind of recognition, this doesn't seem like the best idea.

Ancient Mariner 11-04-2010 08:58 PM

I've been playing since February of 2008 but did go off for a bit here and there when the game had a lack of any updates.

Roger Sharkshot 11-09-2010 04:48 AM

lets all send D an email then

Captain Sharktooth 11-09-2010 04:54 AM

Great Idea, me and Pirate Guy (my other pirate) have been playing a month after the game came out but didn't get unlimited until sometime later... meaning we missed the founders cutoff... This would be a great idea

ninety3rd 11-09-2010 08:34 AM

Senior players???

OK, I figured it out that it meant, "who has been playing a long time".
To which I answer --- since the beginning.

As far as the "Senior" part goes, yes, I belong to AARP ( no joke) and may be older than some of your grandfathers (again, NO joke).
:pirate6:

No...really.

Kat Five Knives 11-09-2010 01:32 PM

No disrespect intended for our Founding players.. who are few and becoming fewer. I don't think a little recognition for people who have been paying to play for 2+ years would take away from that - but I can understand why you feel like it would.

Not only that, but it would help disney's players want to play longer.

Davy Bluekidd 11-12-2010 11:20 PM

I've been playing since the beginning of beta 1...
I request no special reward but my founder status in game never hurts XD
I'm really suprised that we have lots of "senior players" on here and I do think they should get something a little extra.:12_1_138:

Ofury/ Tom 11-13-2010 02:43 AM

I would love to have something like that! Great Idea Davy you should send it up to the big Mouse!
