Ahoy Pirates of the Caribbean players! I am Davy Fireskull, Guildmaster of Shadow Sorcerors! If you are looking for a new guild to join, why dont you consider joining us? We are always welcoming new members, and are happy to make people feel welcome.


First off, I would like to give a bit of info about our guild. We are 357 members as of this edit, and are growing very fast. I founded Shadow Sorcerors on the island of Cuba, home of the voodoo master Tia Dalma, in August of 2009, after leaving a failed guild that I had created, named The Ancient Army. I decided to try some new tactics to creating a guild, and it has worked out very well. We are now a thriving guild, very active, and full of friendly and amazing members.

Our guild number is Pirate Guild 488887, and our guild colors are black and red. Our guild server as of 2/13/11 is Kokoros. We are all very friendly and kind to each other, friends, and other guilds. We try to stay on good terms with other guilds, and have succeeded. We do have guild events, and plan them beforehand, at our monthly meetings. With some exceptions, we have meetings on the last Saturday of every month. Even when we arent having events, we are almost always hanging out together, whether we are just flipping coins and talking, looting Darkhart, or catching some fish. We plan to have guild meetings the last Saturdays of every month. During the meetings, we will plan out events for the following month, discuss rules that we think should be added or taken away (recently we elected to take out our "Dont steal rep" rule, due to the fact that some pirates don't know what it is, and it goes along with our respect rule), and of course, we choose our Sorcerer of the Month! Someone who we believe has proven themselves to be the perfect member, that the guild will vote on.

NOTE: More officers will be promoted to senior officers as time goes on.

Rules

Now, what everyone is wondering! What in the world are our rules?

Rule 1) Respect pirates inside and outside the guild! Respect inside our guild includes talking nicely to guildmates, being polite and friendly, and helping out. You are not truly required to help out, but it will give you a good reputation in our guild, and can get you promoted to an officer much faster. Also, please try to minimize your use of caps, it gets very irritating to guildmembers and myself. Exceptions are things such as: LOL, GRATS!, NICE! etc. Outside of the guild means to be kind to others, and give our guild a good reputation. Also, this includes saying please when asking for help, and thanking your guildmate/friend when you recieve it. If you are having problems being respectful, I will give you a single warning. If you continue, you will be booted.

Rule 2) Follow the Pirate Code! We are pirates! Lets follow our own code! This includes befriending others wisely, being respectful, not shooting humans ( Yes, I know... I dont like that part either...), etc.

Rule 3) No drama in guild chat. This goes along with the first rule. We define "drama" as anything that can emotionally harm or bother guildmates. It also includes harassment of any kind, yelling, or anything that can irritate guildmembers. Also, keep any arguments outside of guild chat, as it can cause stress to myself and other guildmembers. Also, we dont want to hear about real life issues!!! If your boyfriend/girlfriend dumped you, we dont want to hear about it! If your relative died, we dont want to hear about it! Just keep guild chat clean please. If I get complaints from guildmembers about this, I will talk to the person, and give them a warning. If they fail to follow this rule, they get the boot.

Rule 4) Ask before teleporting. You all know what this means. Please do not teleport to a guildmate without permission unless it is implied that you can teleport. Those exceptions are if you are in a crew with guildmates and you launch a ship. They have full permission to board unless you said not to board beforehand. Other exception is if you are knocked out. If that is the case, and nobody is there to revive you, go ahead and give a quick little shoutout in guild chat saying something like "help please, I'm knocked out" and one of us will teleport to you. The reason this rule is here is because there are times when people want to be alone, and it is annoying when you teleport to them out of the blue.

Rule 5) Dont ask for promotions! It gets very annoying when me or a guildmate has to answer someone when they ask "Can I be officer?" It isn't that hard to please me mates! To be a veteran, it isn't that hard. If I see you actively talking to your fellow guildmates, helping out, and being a good member, that is the first part. I also want veterans to have at least two to three weeks in the guild. After you are a veteran, I will make you an officer when I feel you are ready for it.

This next one isn't really an official rule. We used to have it, but got rid of it because nobody followed it. If you are going to leave the guild, please talk to someone of a higher rank than you. (Members talk to veterans, officers or me; veterans to an officer or me, and officers directly to me before leaving). This is mainly to keep track of who leaves our guild, as it gets annoying seeing three people left the guild and not knowing who they are. If you cannot get a hold of someone to talk to for a long period of time (unlikely, but just in case), just tell a member, and have them tell me. If you cant get a hold of ANYONE for a long period of time, you may leave the guild without telling.

NOTE: It is not "permission" to leave, just letting us know.


Now you ask, how can I be promoted? Seriously, why do you care? The purpose of guilds is to have fun, and to have friends to back you up when you need help. Sigh, you guys dont care, you just want to be officers. ;) Okay then.

Veteran: As I said, it is not hard to become a veteran. It is mainly based on seniority. If you have been in the guild for two to three weeks, and I have seen you actively being a part of the guild, talking, helping out, etc. I will usually take you into consideration for promotion. It really isn't all that hard. Your duties as a veteran are to keep a watchful eye on the guild. If you see someone misbehaving, report them to me, a Senior Officer, or a Co-GM. Also, if you see someone that is worthy of promotion to veteran, let me know and I will consider them! It is also encouraged that you recruit new members for our guild, so that we can expand.

Officer: Getting promoted to an officer is a wee bit harder. First of all, you must have been a veteran for a significant period of time (several weeks AT LEAST). But that isnt it. To be an officer, I must have seen that you have been friendly, social, helpful, etc. to other guild members. Also, you had to have brought people into the guild. "Noobs" don't count! The people must be social, active, and loyal to the guild. If I have seen you do all that, then I will talk to my Co-GM's and Senior Officers, and see what they think. If the majority approve, then I will promote you. However, I still expect you to recruit members, follow all the guild rules, and help lead the guild. Also, if you do happen to leave, please add a baby pirate to our guild. I dont care if the pirate is a level one, but you were promoted for a reason, and it would be shame to have you leave without giving us a little pirate.

Our dear William has been with us since the beginning. He went inactive for a while (or so I believe...) and came back during the summer. He has been an active player since then. He is always positive, enthusiastic, kind, anything you would look for in a guild member. He is always following guild rules, heck, I could go on and on about him. He is not on the forums, but is considering getting one.

So congratulations to William Ropeparr!

Actually, the meeting was today, thats where I chose Will as our Sorcerer of the Month. Don't worry though, the meeting was mostly a little monthly checkup. We are always discussing ideas when we are not technically having meetings.

When will the next Shadow Sorceror guild meeting be?

Hello James! Welcome to the forums mate! Sorry for the late reply, never noticed your post. :P Glad to see another Sorceror on the forums.

Our next meeting will probably be the last Saturday of the month, like we always do... which is the... 30th, the day before Halloween. The time is going to be 10 A.M. Pacific Time. So thats 11 a.m. Mountain, Noon Central, and 1:00 pm eastern.

Sorcerors! Our monthly checkup meeting is coming up!

What: Shadow Sorceror Monthly Checkup Meeting
When: Saturday, October 30th at 1 PM Pacific Time (2 PM Mountain, 3 PM Central, 4 PM Eastern)
Where: Mosona Server, my ship, The Shadow King

Just our little monthly checkup. We'll talk about events we want to do, rules we want to get rid of, change, or add, etc.

Also, I will announce our Sorcerer of the Month then! If you are a Sorceror on the Forums, go ahead and PM me your nomination, or you can tell me in game. I will announce the person during the meeting.

Be there. Unless you told me beforehand that you cannot make it, there is no excuse for not being there. I will try to bend the date so that as many people as possible can make it, so if you have a problem with the date, tell me and I will change it.

Meg, you are an amazing member. You have been with us for a very long time. Everyone really loves you, your humor, and your Icelandic! You are friendly, social, willing to help at a moments notice, what more can we want? Congratulations Meg!



Now, here is our plan for November, the month ahead!

Events:

• Saturday November 6th and Saturday November 20th: Plundering Days! Meet up at 4:00 Eastern US time for some good old fashioned ship plundering!
  
  Saturday November 13th and Saturday November 27th: Privateering Days! Lets kick some enemy rump and battle each other to see who is king of the privateering islands!

Thats it for events, but now, for the first time ever, we have a Cannon Defense Competition!

You will all be forming Cannon Defense groups, and throughout the month of November, will be playing Cannon Defense with that group. Whoever can get the highest wave wins! And will have a party hosted for them at the end of the month.

This Saturday, at our usual 4 PM Eastern time, was supposed to be our weekly event, a plunder day. Now, seeing as we have a double gold weekend, I say that we change that! Please forgive the double post, but I need to get this out there. Two items.

First off, I happened to notice that you may now transfer the right of guildmaster to other members of your guild. I have decided that there is one person who I will trust with this power in the event that I must go inactive for a period of time. Our Co-Gm, Sam Bladebeard, is who I have chosen. If you are ever on in the guild, and see him listed as guildmaster, assume that I have had to go inactive for a short period of time, and that he is keeping things going smoothly for me. When I return, I trust that he will return the power to me. Yes, I trust Sam enough to do that. Sam, its an honor that I trust you enough to bestow this power on you. Remember, this is only if I need to go inactive, and Sam will only be a placeholder, so to speak.

Secondly, I have decided to open ourselves up a Shadow Sorcerors test guild! For any Shadow Sorcerors members out there that have test, if you would like to join our test guild, please PM me and I will send you a guild code. NOTE: You do not have to be in our live guild to join our test guild or vice versa. My test name is Apprentice, and Billy Fireskull (Our other Co-Gm next to Sam) is called Jaz. Just post here and I'll get you a code.

Now, I would like to announce December's event!

What: Holiday Party, Hosted by The Shadow Sorcerors Guild
When: Friday, December 17 and Saturday, December 18th, both at 8PM Eastern.
Where: Mosona Server, Clubheart Tavern on Raven's Cove. (decided by coinflip xD)
Who: ANYONE!

What will we do? Well of course, we will be having a mad bar party, where we can have some drinks, namely potions :D, and of course go mad like we always do. We will also be doing some good hearted PVP matches, and more! Anyone is invited. Come join the fun!

Oh, by the way Crest, nice job with the Sorceror of the Month poster thingee you did for Billy there.

To whom it may concern, (officers an veterans)
This here will talk about a duty all officers or veterans must do for the guild, in exchange for the help and fun the guild may give ye. This duty is that ye must help the guild to grow!! We couldn't grow up if we didn't have some guys recruiting new members for the guild. Aye, we are growing, but not this quick so we got to recruit more. On this, we (Davy, Billy and me) decided to ask ye, officers or veterans, to recruit the best ye can. For all members of the forums, pass the message to officers that aren't in. Our next objective is 300 members and we are real near to it so if anyone puts some effort in it, it won't be hard to attain this cap. Ye an go on Tortuga or simply do some plunders with public on so ye can invite new guys in. Good luck!!

P.S.: Congrats Billy, I knew ye would win cause I voted for ye!!! lol Amazing job out there by the way. :piratetongueor4:

Well said Sam, he's right. We need all of you, officers and veterans, to try to find a little bit of time to recruit. Even if you bring in just one member a week, thats good! I just want to see that you are putting in some effort. Again, we aren't asking you to spend your time sitting on Abassa/Andaba, flipping a coin (or some other emote, considering that emote is being removed... stupid Disney...) with a mile high thought bubble above your head telling people to join our guild. I mean, thats not too bad to do every once in a while, just visiting Abassa, or Andaba, as I prefer, to just see if there is anyone looking to join a guild. Another more fun method that Sammy pointed out there would be doing a massive plunder on a War Galleon or War Frigate with your ship on public. After bringing in all of those Royal Chests, before you land, ask around if there is anyone that wants to join Shadow Sorcerors. It usually helps if there are a few Sorcerors on board the ship. I give full credit of inventing this method to Sam Bladebeard there! A true genius he is!

Again, please try to recruit a bit. Its your duty as a veteran or officer to be helping out the guild by doing that. Whether you want to flip a coin on a beach, do a public plunder, or just guild a person you pass that doesn't have one, its up to you. Good luck!

P.S. Make sure that these people know how to talk ok? If you guild 10 noobs that don't know how to talk and then stop coming online the next day, then its as good as you guilding nobody. :P

Noobs aren't this bad, as we say, the future is in the youth! But don't just concentrate on these low levels, try to get some others sometimes at least 10, then 20, and 30 afterwards, so that the levels in the guild are of plenty of different groups of levels. Try to vary this!!

Alright mates, our year is coming to a close as a guild, and I have chosen our Awards that we will be giving out at the end of the year. I am not sure as of yet of when I will announce the winners, but here are the awards I want you to vote for. Please note that you cannot vote for me, as it would be awkward announcing "I am the Sorceror of the Year!" or something. And I want you to vote for your guildmates. Here are the categories.

Well, our growth is quite slow on these times, if ye didn't remark it. So, it could be nice to attain our 300 cap before Christmas guys. It would be a nice gift to the guild. For this, we all need to put some of our own and recruit as much as possible. Try to find people that won't leave after a couple of hours too. Quality is, also, really important. Quality counts better than quantity but the quantity is just a bonus.
So, guys, lets just give us a nice gift for Christmas, get to the 300 mates!!!
