Sub-forum

We have been thinking a lot about this, and we have decided that will might pursuit a sub-forum. And, this is not an application for a sub-forum, but rather we would like to ask a few questions before we can make a final decision.

First of all, I want to acknowledge that we love the forums, and the people in it, and this is the main reason we are considering this. Second reason is, because I believe we would get more exposure and there for; we will be able to facilitate access to information, and to better server our members. And final reason is because we have been around for almost 2 years, and we definitely plan to be around for a while, so this makes it worthwhile to get a sub-forum.

First, I would like to know what would be the appropriate place (forum/category) to post a thread with updates.
We would like to document every step of the way, in our journey toward fulfilling all the sub-forums requirements. So we will be posting update for example who joins the forums from our guild, and number of posts, and any other prerequisites that might apply, until we are ready to finally apply.

Second, are we even allowed to do the above? I think it would easy up the process, and not just that but also will help us to better interact within the forums.

Other than that, I just want to say I have enjoyed the forums so far, and is a great place to spend some time.

Once we get all the info we need, we will be making a final decision.

I believe that Batleth posted a sticky in the guilds and clans forums saying how to get a subforum. You should try checking that.

Please read the post again. We already know the requirements, it has nothing to-do with "how to" get a sub-form. I think that is already covered.

Tiberius Fireskull 09-22-2010 04:39 PM

Oh, my bad. I misread it. Sorry mate.

No problem mate. The questions might be more suitable for a mod or admin though, or people in charge of these specific things

The Skirata Clan 09-22-2010 05:35 PM

To the best of my knowledge for your first question I believe the place to have your with updates and stuff would be Guilds and Clans.

For your second questions the answer is yes. Many guilds do that. PNC was like that for a while until they got their Sub-forum.

Best of Luck! Hope you guys achieve this goal.

Dog Firestack 09-22-2010 09:17 PM

The guilds and clans sub forum. You post a thread with the Spania thing, and you post the rules and then other info, and you can get your people who post in there, and update the thread, etc etc.

I'm happy to hear how much you like POF and that you've decided to make it your home, not just for yourself but for your guild as well.

If you haven't already, start a thread in the clans forum for your guild. Normally, that kind of info is placed within the first couple of posts on the thread. It really does make it easier for us admins to find too when we do eventually review your guild's thread for a subforum. Once you feel you are ready for a subforum, just PM one of us, admins, and we'll begin the review process. From there we'll let you know anything you need to work on or create your subforum, whichever the case may be.

Best of luck!

Thanks Batleth, I think we are ready to move forward. Also I have an extra question:

Does the 500 posts count solely for the newly created thread, or does it add up with all the threads/post around the forums?

I believe that the person that wishes to be Clan Leader/the OP (original poster) of the guild thread has to have 500 posts :)

Total posts for the guild's thread.

Captain Del 09-23-2010 12:39 AM

Erg, sorry for the misinformation. Del has too many posts to differ the two possibilities! :p

Thanks!, - let me get this straight, it has to be done only by the leader poster OR by the guild members and the leader posted within the thread?

The total number of posts itself, by all people who post on the thread. If I had to do 500 posts on one thread, my fingers would have fallen off :p

Alright !!! thx!! here is where I say......... KIDS NEXT DOOR!! BATTLE STATION!

Dog Firestack 09-23-2010 12:27 PM

I believe the 500 posts can't be a single sentence either, like bump..... or something like that.

That's what I think, not sure about that, I can send you the link to the thread if you'd like.

Please be aware that it's just not 500 posts of anything in the thread, but worthwhile posts that can add value and support your case of needing a sub-forum. Posts like "Hi, I'm here" and other such may be considered just spam and rule you out. We'd like to see posts that show your guild is well organized and active. Post up some guild news, organize an event, show the results of the event, etc...

Good luck!

Cannonfury 09-23-2010 02:44 PM

Yes what everyone else has said is correct, also..don't want to force your members to post either, let people post on their own time. Just basically, talk about the regular guild activities,rules..ect in the guilds forums.

No one forces anyone here. No offense but I think this is the kind of people who were trying to put us down during the comp, kinda using the same tone ( and some intimidation tactics ). Making it sound as if we harsh and not worthy to receive any honors. Even threatening us to report us to Disney for working so hard (I know is silly) but their excuse was, that we were torturing our members and forcing them, and even asking us who we should guild or not guild.. ( for example: that guy is good, you should not guild him - is not fair. Or Why are you guiding rankers only? I will report you to Disney for the kind of techniques you are using is not ethical.. etc ).. it ain't gonna work.

And no one will come out of the blue and post on their own if they are not asked to or talked to about or through events, since they don't even know the thread exists

I had figured that much. Kinda common sense. I think we got all this stuff covered, i think 500 posts "bump" "Hi, I'm here" would be a waste of time. I just wanted to know the essential info ( kinda the 3 questions I asked ) and the clarification of how many posts. No need to describe every details of how to post or things like that - thank you for the awesome info!

Yes, I felt a lot of grief toward us.

CaptainMonkeys 09-23-2010 11:51 PM

Nobody can force you to do anything. Carlos is simply getting people to join POF (through persuasion, not threats!) so he can communicate to them around the POTCO community.

Sorry, only one thread per guild. It helps us find everything we need to look at easier.
