New Weapon Class

Ok, so I was just thinking the other day, that we need a completely new class of weapons. I'm not talking just another type of sword, or gun, I mean you will have to master this one seperately, and maybe you can unlock it at lv 40 or 50.

Lemme just explain some of the weapon classes I have.

Cursed/Magic Blades: I have heard these may be coming out with Raven's Cove, but this is what I think would be cool to have available on cursed blades. You would hold two of them, one in each hand. They would be black, and short, maybe about the size of a war dagger, except different shapes. You would be able to attack up close with them like blades, or you can cast voodoo spells with them. Each type would do a different type of effect when you slice with them, like venom strike, burn strike, bane strike, etc.

Whip: Self explanatory, whip your enemies. Maybe some whips could have spikes or something, and you can disarm your enemies with it as well.

Fists: This could be pushing the E10+ rating on the game, but hey, punching a skeleton could be a bit of fun.

Spiked Gloves: Not too piratey, but what they would be would be metal gloves that you could put on, and maybe some could have spikes on them. Then you can slash and punch at your enemies. Again, could be pushing the E10+ rating.

Bow & Arrow: Only reason I'm putting it here is because I've heard other people talk about it... I personally dont like the idea, as I see it too medieval. Why use a bow when we have gunpowder? Still putting it up anyway.

Dual Weapons: This wouldnt really be a weapon, but more like a skill unlocked at a certain notoriety level. It would make it so that if you plundered a duplicate of a weapon you already have, you could equip it so that you can hold two of them. Heck! It doesnt even have to be a duplicate, just dual wielding.

Personally, I want the Cursed/Magic Blades... I could really be deadly with some of those...9

hmm i go with him on this won lol it would be awesome to dual wield to wepons like jolly a famed gun in won hand and famed sword in the other lol peferbly a bloodfire O_O:piratear::12_1_138::skull_bullet::sadmh9::pira te2::psmiley27:

Tiberius Fireskull 08-30-2010 02:49 PM

Oh, and sorry guys, I forgot to add an "other" option. If you had one just post it.

Eliza Creststeel 08-30-2010 02:52 PM

I voted for dual weilding, but I would love martial arts or hand-to-hand to become something we can do.

I mean the French guys can already kick us! We can headbutt, throw dirt... let alone all the other NASTY things we can do. Punching, kicking and grappling seem more humane.

Can't figure the ratings people out on this one.

But, I would love to walk up to a Grunt, plant my size 9 in his behind then give him a haymaker that would knock him down. Make it a quest. We could meet fighters on different islands, etc to learn. They could disable it for PvP if they are worried about that. Though a boxing match in PvP would be a hoot!

angel 4ever 08-30-2010 03:10 PM

lol i would learn martial arts sounds fun lol but i chose i cant choose in a way sry there r alot of good ideas like the cursed/magic and dual weapons and bow and arrow would be diff lol but not really sure sry i do like them all though lol

I would like to have some sort of pet, I.E. Parrot, monkey, some sort of rat, that attacks everyone you attack xD

Jack Shipsteel 08-31-2010 12:31 AM

Voted for Dual Wieldling because this could be made into many different sorts of combat sytle. Imagine all the possibilities for dual wielding... 2 daggers.. 2 swords ( like Undead Spaniards ).. 2 Grenades.. and even 2 blunderbusses, now THAT would be interesting, although reloading may become tiwce as longI wouldn't even mind making that a new weapon skill you have to unlock at level 40, if it means you can dual twice the damage. I could see it having a few drawbacks, but the positives would overcome the negatives, hopefully.

Buck Seahawk 08-31-2010 12:52 AM

I chose the whip because most of them didn't look useful (except duel wielding). You would unlock it at level 40 so you could gain the useful rep. Fists would be something that would be at the start of the game. Bow and arrow wouldn't be a very good weapon. I mean, we have pistols and muskets... who needs a bow?

muffin pirate 09-01-2010 02:52 AM

Indiana Jones!!!!! Bull Whip Plz.... :piratewhip:

Jibby 09-01-2010 03:09 AM

Whip would be pushing the E-10+ a little, I mean, whipping a grunt seems really cruel. Plus, if you think of skills there aren't that many for whipping, and there aren't combos. I voted for Bow and Arrow, since you can have a Voodoo Arrow that would use enemy voodoo, fire arrow, etc. The skills might not be completely random.

I dont think that whipping is pushing the E10 rating. I have an Indiana Jones game somewhere lemme check its rating.... ok, its T... but thats probably because of mild language. Also, I could think of some skills for a whip. Perhaps not names yet, but some mental pictures. As for skills, there could be a disarm skill, a skill where you latch on to the enemy's leg, and knock them over, and maybe something where you pull them up to you and you headbutt them or something. Sorry lol, didnt mean to blabber on forever.

As for the bows... I know I posted them and everything... but we really dont need bows since we have gunpowder....

Hey guys, new idea. When you say what you voted for, give a few skills that could come with it.

For Cursed Blades: You would hold two, so the first combo would be an X Slash, where you bring the two blades down across the enemy's chest. Then, Double Stab, where after bringing the blades down from the X-Slash, you thrust them forward. Then you bring them up ward and bring them back down into a Double Cleave. After bringing them down, you pull them up and do a Roundhouse Slash, where you pull the blades up, and do two slashes with both blades going left, then right. Then to finish it up, you do four separate slashes using one blade each across the enemy.

A skill for them could be something like Spirit Stealer, where you shoot a cloud of black fog around the enemy, which will slowly drain his health and give it to you. Something like a life drain, but happens over time, rather than all at once.

Nate Swordwalker 09-01-2010 03:30 AM

I personally chose the Bow and Arrow. Reasons:

1.) I have experience with a bow and arrow.
2.) Range, people! These things could go FAR!
3.) A great weapon with significant reload speed!
4.) Instead of buying the arrowheads, you could travel to Tormenta or go into a cave to get the stone to carve into an arrow. You could retrieve this weapon at level 30.

That is just me, though. Mainly because bow and arrow is my main weapon and I often hunt with it.

Skills: A power shot that will pierce the enemies chest, causing them to lose most of the health, no matter what type of enemy.
Long shot: Kind of like take aim but you would have to calculate trajectory for the enemy's distance.

Indiana Jones almost never whips people, and if he does, it's getting a weapon out of their hand. Although the Cursed Blade combo is cool, and with the four seperate slashes, it'd be like this:

Left Hack at an angle down, like this \, attacking down.
Right Hack, same thing but with the right, so like this: /.
Reverse Left Hack: Left Hack going up.
Reverse Right Hack: Right Hack going up.

So like that.

Dual Wielding would be great, wouldn't mind bow and arrow either.

Like Jibby said, voodoo arrow and flaming arrow, also tought about poison arrow, you say why bow and arrow when you have gun powder, maybe explosive arrows. Then of course there would be the normal arrow ammo.

Captain Del 09-01-2010 10:30 PM

Bow and Arrow really doesn't have a purpose, because we already have massively powerful guns at our desposal.

Fist fighting is too close to fighting in real life for Disney to add it. Some of you will argue that "Oh, so blowing up your enemies is fine, but you can't punch them?" Well, lets think about this. Not every child has a cache of grenades in their parents tool shed. But with fist fighting, kids can go right ahead and imitate that, with their friends, with strangers, even.

Whip... eh. Using a whip would just feel a little too weird for my pirate. It feels a little too.. Viking-ish, I suppose? Besides, whipping is a very punishing form of torture, not killing, although it is possible. I think torture in a childs game would be pretty bad.

Cursed/Magic Blades is probably going to be a new type of sword (Cutlass, Broadsword, etc) though I think it being a new type of sword is more likely. This would be my second choice, if I had to choose.

Dual Wielding is definately a want for me. Being able to wield two swords at once (I can only dream of me wielding my two El Patrons right now :psmiley27:) just seems too cool for school in my opinion :piratetongueor4:

Indiana Jones is no viking, and you dont think that stabbing a navy guy with a sword is torture??

You may be right. But at this point any new weapon would be nice.... What about the cannon swab?! Remember they said that it was coming april '09??? And it never did!? Its a sign!!!! :piratetongueor4: (uber sarcasm intended.)

Del,

Good argument against the hand-to-hand. Yet we can still headbutt. Yet, the French guys can still kick. And YET, we still use bladed weapons and most houses have knives.

Oh, and they're developing Axes. AXES!! Here kid, you get to chop down a Navy guard like he was a tree.

I understand your point but the ratings system logic is quite flawed.

EC

Tiberius Fireskull 09-03-2010 12:41 AM

To tell you the truth... I think the only reason the game isnt rated T is because there is no blood, the violence is sorta cartoonish, and the language is clean. However, Im surprised that it isnt T already because of all that rum we know and love, and poker.

Eliza, where did you find out that they were making axes? Phase Files? I've heard rumors, but nothing saying that they were coming soon.

William Wallace 09-07-2010 09:01 PM

I think the game is pushing it with the E10+ rating already. Gambling, alcohol, burning people alive, blowing people up, stabbing enemies to death, headbutts, stealing, literal backstabbing, poisoning others, attacking a defenseless monkey, etc.

Now, I'm mostly exaggerating, but the point is, the game has plenty of stuff that isn't appropriate to younger kids, yet it's in the game anyway. I understand that a Whip can be associated with torturing, but if it's used in a different way, such as dragging in distant enemies closer to you(like Grenadiers, which should be fought with a ranged weapon anyway), then players might not have to think about it as a form of torture.

Actually, the whip maybe could be used instead as a type of "side weapon" that can be held in a pirate's left hand, while they attack with the weapon in their right hand. It would be used in the way I mentioned, to drag enemies closer to you for attack. This would go under Dual Wielding basically. I dunno, just an idea that came to mind.

Jason Ironskull 09-07-2010 09:25 PM

I voted for Dual Wielding. I always wanted to use two weapons at the same time!
