So THIS is what Disney has to say about ABASSA SPAMMERS.

I went on Live Chat yesterday to talk about a lot of stuff, one of them being emote spammers. This is what they had to say.

Me: Alright, I wanted to talk about spammers. You've probably have seen these emote spammers, correct?
LC: We are sorry these people are bugging you. Please send a report to Disney via Send a bug report.
Me: Well actually, I wanted to ask if you guys were in the process of fixing the spammer glitch, because i know you guys always fix all of your other glitches. All the time.
LC: Yes, we do everything to make Potco a fun experience for everyone!
Me: Yeah. all that. Anyway, I was just wondering because these people make Abassa not fun at all.
LC: We are sorry that they are annoying you, but there is not much to do besides report it.
Me: You know what im talking about, right? These people use a combination of quick cancel and pasting to send out emotes 20 times per 3 seconds. I was just wondering if people are working on fixing it.
LC: If people keep sending in bug reports about it, the dev team is sure to look into it.
Me: So if people keep complaining about this annoying, exploitable glitch, THEN you guys will look into it?

....

I know exactly what you're talking about, and it's rather annoying. I don't see them ever fixing that though, so I just tend to avoid Tortuga on Abassa.

Andrew 07-27-2010 09:20 PM

About the only thing they can do is add a "***Spamming***" thing for emotes as well. It would make sense if that was put in in the 1st place...

My favorite part (emphasis mine):

Not be be a total pain, but will ending emote spamming make Abassa any more fun? Abassa has a tarnished reputation already. There are many other servers where this isn't an issue.

I think that the guy on Live Chat was just saying "If you send in a bug report about something, we'll make sure to look in to it." No need to attack him/her.

That just sounds mean. :'( :( :/:bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2:

titanic95594 07-28-2010 02:56 AM

Aye I see people saying "cheers!" like 10 times every 2 seconds.

Cpt. Charlotte Doyle 07-30-2010 03:44 PM

abassa tortuga can be entertaining if you dont mind a headache XD

Eliza Creststeel 07-30-2010 03:54 PM

Tay, the person was merely expressing the standard procedure. But, the replies seem really antagonistic...

"because i know you guys always fix all of your other glitches. All the time.... Yeah. all that. Anyway, I was just wondering because these people make Abassa not fun at all... So if people keep complaining about this annoying, exploitable glitch, THEN you guys will look into it?"

He's a customer service dude sitting at a terminal.

I thought the same thing EC.

I know, and thats why it was FUNNY. Sadly for us, its the only communication that we have with disney (Besides sending e-mails into the black hole. And we all know how that turns out.)

I'll go back on chat with them tomorrow and talk about spammers in a less agitated tone.

One of the things I remember from our whole chat (The part i quoted was the answer to my question) was when we were discussing the topic afterwards. She said that if people don't like it, you should get them to send bug reports.

I responded with "I'm not sure I know many friends who like their chatbox spammed 20 times a second."

It was admittingly funny, but Live Chat is our only response on these spammers at the moment.

ruisen2000 08-03-2010 07:30 AM

I never got to abassa, so never had the prob.
lol Tayseth next time you use live chat post what you and the live chat worker said.

WitchdoctorDan 08-12-2010 11:59 PM

I don't like how you treated this live chat guy like he's a dev...
He pretty much has a template of things to say, and probably gets asked the same question all the time. No, he's not very helpful, but when you discover that just leave him alone.

Tiberius Fireskull 08-16-2010 06:50 PM

Originally, I didnt have a problem with the emote spammers. Although that changed when i had an experience with one the other day on Abassa or Andaba.

I was just doing some recruiting for my guild with a few officers, when this one guy started spamming. I guess it never bothered me before because I was just passing through the area, but this time I was trying to talk to my guild. When me and a few other people told him to stop, he just said something like YOU CANT MAKE ME! Then he kept going on and on, eventually about 7 people started yelling at him to stop, and he finally left... after a big argument... lol he even said he could beat me in a pvp.... that woulda been fun, seeing as Im a lv 50 and he was lv 17....

Anway, best thing they can do is add a ***Spamming*** message to emotes like Andrew said.

lostmymarbles 09-08-2010 07:07 PM

Please don't use the Live Chat for submitting complaints. Live Chat is meant to be used to help people with immediate technical problems.

Use the ingame "report" feature to submit complaints against spammers and other rude people.

Tiberius Fireskull 09-08-2010 11:27 PM

lostmymarbles, the problem is that that may not be what Disney considers rude/mean behavior. This is why I am very careful with who I report. Disney may easily think you were just reporting for fun, and they will ban you instead.

lostmymarbles 09-09-2010 01:18 AM

You misunderstood my main point in my post. Live Chat should be used for people who need technical help with the game.

And I have rarely reported anyone. I don't consider reporting "fun." First off, because I avoided Abassa as if it were a plague-ridden sink-hole and secondly because my idea of playing the game involved actually playing, not hanging out to chat (unless of course it was with my guild... then chat away we did, but on a quiet server).

Some people love that part of the game, the socializing, but you run your risk of running across rude people in that setting who don't know their boundaries. Not everyone there is like that, but you know how it can be. Most of the stuff is just noise.

The only person I ever reported was a guy who made a comment to another player that was without a doubt vulgar...not mildly vulgar... but went so far over the line ... (I'm sorry there's no way to even convey how horrible the statement was). Either way it was meant as a mean-spirited insult and should not have ever been said in open chat. That is when you use the report button. Disney can check the chat. We know they can. So if the reporter is innocent, they should have nothing to worry about.

My point was that we should not to tie up the Live Chat line for complaints. It's meant for people who are having a problem with their account or game and need help.

This has nothing to do with this post, but I looked at your screenshot and I think I know you... You use to be in a guild called "The Guardians"? Gm was Megan Pratt. :laughks2::pirate_flag:

StellaInTheSky 10-07-2010 01:38 AM

Regardless of whether the update fixed it or not...the "ignore" button is there, has been there quite a while, and is fully functional. Just saying.

Tiberius Fireskull 10-07-2010 06:09 AM

Stella, the ignore button only blocks out speech. Emotes and thought bubbles still go through.

StellaInTheSky 10-07-2010 05:26 PM

I see people who spam random speech more than Emotes, which is why I use the ignore button...although it's beyond me why you can't completely ignore someone as you can in other games. (In all honesty I have no issue with the Emote spamming, because while it is annoying I get much more sick of the random nonsense that people spout out in-game than someone over-celebrating...that's just me though.) I was just making the point that the ignore is there for a reason. Anyways, if you want my opinion the original post is irrelevant because complaining about anything on Abassa is kind of like trying to herd chickens. Useless/pointless, you're not getting anywhere, and you're wasting time. There are other servers in the game. It will always be Abassa, and will always be annoying on some level even if they did fix any emote spamming because someone will always be there to be "that guy".
Forgive the venting...needed to get it out. LOL.
:skull:

Eliza Creststeel 10-07-2010 06:49 PM

Abassa is what it is. Disney promotes this game to young kids and there's minimal structure here and only recently are we getting more re-playable activities like Toon Town has.

And the 'kids' go where they can be seen and shoot the breeze with the others or ask around for a 'bf' or 'gf'.

You just accept that Abassa is the social feeding frenzy and either steer clear, or immerse yourself. I generally stay away, but often there is a need to go there for the sake of a guild mate or for guild business. I can't imagine being there for hours on end, nightly. But, I'm an old salt.

So, bottom line is that its a necessary evil and I'd rather have the younguns and PvPers all in one pile than spread out over all the servers.
