A Voodoo Explanation... Plus One Screenie
 

In the past few weeks, my research has led me far in wide in search of actual physical manifestations of the so-called 'spirits' which inhabit the Caribbean. As most of you probably are aware, the spirits travel over set 'roads' from island to island, with congregating points in between. Of course, this leaves ectoplasmic traces, from which energy can be drawn and used to change the fabric of reality. Voodoo practitioners aim to do just that, using that power to defeat enemies and the like.

The ability to draw on a foreign energy is present in all people, however, most are incapable of calling on that ability without something through which to channel it, much like a conduit. Voodoo dolls then, are used to alter reality. However, it is a very crude method, needing to connect directly to that which you plan to alter, before you draw the energy directly into the object of your focus.

Staffs, on the other hand, are different, as you can actually store the energy in it. Usually, the object in which it is stored is inorganic, whether it's a skull, or perhaps a jewel. Since it can be stored, it needn't be in direct link with the object which you wish to control and/or alter.

There are of course, a few very skilled voodoo practitioners who are capable of first focusing on an object, and then willing the ectoplasmic energy to flow into it, changing its very nature. These spells are, unfortunately, incredibly hard to work towards change and are therefore more often used for destructive purposes. Jolly Roger is capable of such power, but only due to the fact that he not only gained much of his afflicter's powers, but also, being undead, is attached directly to the power-lines running throughout the islands. Undead are sustained by the energies, and therefore, those among them who are extremely skilled in Voodoo have a nearly endless supply of energy.

On to Spirits. They come in many forms of course, but the one I'd like to address tonight is the 'ghost-light'.
Ghost-lights are in fact Spirits that produce a semi-physical form to observe goings-on in the physical world. Observational manifestations give off light, rather than heat or cold, or other more tangible substance. Below is a picture of a lesser ghost-light in the cold swamps of Cuba.

They are drawn here by the fact that Tia Dalma, a major Voodoo Practitioness, as we all know, lives here. They may be seen elsewhere, but they seem to especially like it here. If anyone else has seen a Voodoo/Spirit manifestation of any form, please post a picture of it, along with brief description, here so that they may be categorized in my files.

Lol, I dont think this should be in the glitch forum. Can you not see the ripple in the water there? Besides, Captain Walter's ghost was seen here on Cuba. Many other ghosts have been seen too. Remember Constance and her husband. How bout Ol Sooty and the one responsible for Constance's husband's death? I was in an invasion on Tortuga when Constance was seeking our help. She was floating around as a light and healing pirates who were knockd out! When she woud arrive and leave for her visits or talks with us pirates, she was a blue orb. I have seen these spirit lights before. I dont think this is random.

Thats not a ghost, its just a person. Look VERY close and you see a black buccaneer hat and a long coat. Then again, if you look at the water, you see if someone was standing there, giving off a water splash.

It does look like a potion being drink and using the invisible potion so who knows I will keep a eye out.

I enjoyed it Keep, was fun while it lasted.

Side note: We should keep our eyes open for spirits in the game. Never know when Captain Walter will show up or someone else becomes a ghost.

I saw today over top the Black Pearl one of these spirits. It disappeared just as the Goliath started to sink. It was a blue spirit. Did it help us sink the Goliath? We only had 3 people on board, so it may be we had some ghostly help. What do you all think?

I do not know what has happened, but I have just seen this, I am currently running away while writing this to get away from this spirit, the spirits seem to be able to control fire. I have a picture below depicting what has happened.

It seems these spirits are forming from human spirits. Could these be spirits Tia used as sacrifices or used to sacrifice for her? These spirits come in many forms, but some can control the elements. The one I have found can control the element of flames. It seems something else is coming, and something that is rising from Tia, and Cuba. Could it be the end of piracy as we know it? He seems to be glowing of some sort, but having a faint body. This is it for now, I must run.

Faint body, human spirit, and a little more power over the physical elements than most lesser spirits... This is what would be classified as a 'wraith'.

Yeah.. but you are taking it too seriously. Obviously none of those are actually "spirits", people are just having fun.

I agree with Sven.

But I do have to say something about spirits in the game. Like I said before we have seen spirits in the game, Constance and Captain Walter are just two examples. Do not forget that this is something that POTCO has used and will use again. You never know what is coming next...

Ok, so I have succesfully ran away from that flaming spirit. As curiosity grabs my mind again I head back to the area and find THIS in the area where I found that flaming spirit.

I see the darkness battling it out with the good auras, nature and warding. Is darkness trying to take over the Caribbean as we know it? Cuba seems to be a dwelling plae for these spirits to come, and then what will happen next? Who, or what is behind this? Could it be Tia, or something else dangerous? Another thing I notice is a faint spirit in the center of the auras. It is a green aura, so could it be the darkness trying to destroy a holy spirit? What in the world is this?

I have started to venture around the Caribbean and I have found this at Isla Tormenta, an island near Cuba and cursed of Davy Jone's Henchman. I found crabs, but not just any crabs. I found this.

A huge crab, a crab that had sensed me and I had to battle with it. Here's some parts of my battle with a "voodoofied" enemy. The crab was huge, and strong but I managed.

As I do a quick jab trying to weaken this crab, nothing happens, so I decide to take out a dagger and start hacking away.

I do a barrage of throwing knives heading towards the crab, weakening this monster. I see that the crab is weakening and decide to go for another blow. But before that happens a burst of light appears before I do anything.

I sense that the crab's soul is about to disintergrate, so I make a leap the other way to get out of the way.

Voodoo is starting to effect the animals as we know it. What is going to happen and what is causing this? Does anybody have a clue?

I have returned, but with a new place seen. I have ventured onto a mysterious island in search of this voodoo spirits, and while I was searching, I grabbed my blunderbuss for protection. It seems this spirit wanted to kill me, so I had to defend myself. Here is the picture.

I am Tobias Daggercrash, Like Dog and Keeper, i have been investigating voodoo. But what i found this time on Cove was totally Awesome.

We 5 were in a cave until a Spanish-like spirit emerged at the end of the cave!!

My Freinds attacked him until he attacks us. Three of us including me fell down, as one of the friends who stood up had a voodoo doll trying to heal the other one, and other one had a Cursed Blade in his hands. We Three did not have any of them in hands currently, we fell down.

We stood up as my friend with the cursed blade defeated him. We knew he would come back. We Ran as fast as we could. We saw many other ghosts this time. when we came back, we told about the cave to all others, and all of the so many pirates dubbed it "The Cave of Lost Souls".
