Is El Patron's Lost Sword Overrated?
We all know of the highly coveted Legendary Cutlass, the Lost Sword of El Patron. The one which grants it's weilder to turn in to a ghost, as well as drain voodoo from its enemies (not to mention its Attack of 84.) Nearly every pirate in the Caribbean wants it - but should they?
I know a few pirates who think the El Patron Sword is wwaayy too overrated given its popularity. Some say theres really nothing that makes it more special than another cutlass, while others say that too many people have it for it to be considered "wantable." So what's your opinion? Is the Lost Sword of El Patron overrated? |
Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
|
Personally, a sword that makes me ghostly is a nice thing to have - but something so overrated? Everyone has it these days, so what makes it so special and unique? I personally prefer the Shark Blade cutlass line, as the slashing wind with a nice solid black color looks awesome.
Now, if I actually do get the sword, I'll say alright and I'll keep it. But I won't go waving it around other peoples' faces, and I certainly won't be jumping for joy.... |
The Lost Sword is overrated, but only because it is the most "legendary" weapon in the game. Given that, a lot of people will just naturally want to have, just to say that they do.
Personally I would like to get the weapon, but I'm not gonna make a big deal about it. The only problem I have with this weapon are a lot of the people looking for it. And by that I mean, the people who constantly ask in game, "Where do I find the lost sword???", "I need that sword!", and many other various things. Even if I don't find it though, i'm happy with my other famed weapons :) edit: Another reason the weapon is overrated is due to it being a very good (although not the best) weapon for PvP. Using the ghost skill allows you to take half damage, making things that much easier. |
I voted yes and i would add that the famed weapons are over rated. I say this because so many people complain about not getting them or enough of them and complain about getting nothing but common and rare weapons. A lot of the common weapons are very nice and can be more useful then a lot of rare and famed weapons. The Famed weapons I have I don't use that much because I have other weapons I like better. As for the Lost Sword of El Patron, sure I'd love to get it but if I did I would not be surprised if I didn't use it a lot.

for leveling it's not a good sword, more damage equals less rep...however it would make a great pvp sword, as sven has already mentioned.
|
Nah, it's just something Disney made to keep us busy.
I'd like them to go farther with the legendary weapons, ranging from them making us glow, to glowing themselves, with +5 for every skills, while having their own, unique attack styles. The lost/legendary weapons is what makes weapon grinding worth hours of play, because you have something to look forward to eventually. |
i really want that sword so i can become a ghost XD
|
To me, it's like a brand of trading cards, there's a bunch of poor ones, many fair ones, a few great ones, and only five "legendary" ones. They are really only highly wanted because they are so scarce, because their attack is not much greater than those of a famed sword, but just because it's a legendary weapon, it is highly valued. Besides, I think most people that have found it and have high enough sword level to use it, are probably mastered on sword, so l either they use it rarely, just to show off, or in PVP. In which no case is it going to be used enough to do you much good.
So all in all, I say it is very overrated ( but not as much as the word overrated) and I am actually going with the ratings, and every time a skull chest drops, I hold my breath for the lost sword. Just how I view it, as I have heard a lot from those who have one. |
I don't have it myself so I can't really say if it's overrated or not. I will say that I am quite happy with the Gorilla and Orangutan cutlasses that I use. Between the fact that I can't get knocked down, the monkey panic skill which is incredibly useful, it's brawl boost, and it's fairly high attack power it has done very well for me. Even if I got the lost sword I woud probably still use the Gorilla.
|
I don't have it so I can't say it isn't that good. I'd rather find Famed weapons because there is only ONE Legendary weapon. It would be cooler to find famed instead because there are a LOT of famed weapons and some haven't even discovered all of them yet! So I think El Patron's Lost Sword is overrated!

Overrated? I can't decide. I'll let you know, when I get it. :-) |
Is it just me or do most people who say it is overrated not have it yet! LOL I love it, is it good for lvling NO but so what no high lvl weapon is!
|
My friends have one and they would want to trade for my black vest if theres a trading system, I guess they got bored with it but I got to try the sword out.
|
As much as I love the sword and the power it has, it is not all that great, it would be much better if the ghost effect lasted untill you put the sword away or something. It's very powerful, but there might actually be better weapons out there in the Carribean!
|
Do I have one? No. Do I want one? No. If I get one will I keep it? Yes. I keep all my famed weapons. Almost all of which I find highly overrated.
I happen to have 6 famed weapons on my most used pirate. A sea charm, 2 swords, 2 bayonets and 1 blunderbuss. How many do I use? Three. I use my Lucky Charm sea charm, my Bloodfire Cutlass, and my Masterwork Broadsword. But only against Darkhart. For normal enemies I much prefer lower attack weapons. Case in point? I have 3 famed shooting weapons I never use. I have a few rare shooting weapons I use once in a blue moon. What's my pistol of choice? A common Wicked Repeater, or sometimes the rare Dread Repeater. I simply prefer to get the better rep the common or even crude weapons give. |
I have it. I voted yes its over rated. I'd gladly trade it for a certain famed broadsword or Sabre. I hope we can trade someday. I would rather my son have it, or someone who can't live without it then I.

If I got El Patrons Sword, I'd keep it in my Arsenal, and wait until I can break it to pieces or something. That was I could make my own blade or something. I use a Witch Hunter Broadsword during invasions, and my Masterwork Broadsword for other times. This is my weapons personality, and I prefer a broadsword with some type of advantage like a chance for more damage, or a blade that can damage my enemies voodoo powers. During Invasions I like to use my Hex Stopper Musket to pick off Jolly from a distance and resist his chain effect. While outside of invasions I enjoy to use my Bush Master Pistol. Don't care for dolls, since you have to attune enemies, and that is pretty much auto aiming(which I hate most of anything in all of gaming kind). Daggers, I keep the normal dagger for training, and use the War Dagger when I use my Dagger after mastering. Grenades... I level them, the end. Then we get to the staves, which I do not bother to buy, seeing as they all have somewhat limited effects, and all feel the same. Out on the Sea I use all War Ships. This is what I look for in my game, and what I use when in battle and at Sea. I would not trade these for El Patrons Sword, or use it over any of them. |
I want it but yes it is overrated
|
everybody is or was goin crazy for this and it does 84 damage it turns you into a ghost but the fullmoon special blunderbuss does 88 damage and id rather have that ten el patron

One Word: Yes.

I think it's definately overrated. It's actually not that useful in battle, it's only cool.
The drain voodoo skill is not very great, since voodoo enemies are often very easy for most people who are high level enough to obtain the sword. Except Jolly Roger, but before you can drain all his voodoo you would be dead already since he can knock any pirate out in 1-2 attacks. Also the sweep boost is not very good, since sweep is weak already, +3 won't make it any stronger, if it was bladestorm or thrust boost it would be great. Also the patron sword should have at least 90 attack, since full moon special blunderbuss already have 88 attack, which is higher then the 84 attack the patron sword has, and seven seas has 80 attack, which is 4 less then patron, but 4 attack won't even make a little difference in damage, would it? |
