Silly loot drop rumors

:cat-ani: A guildmate told me that if a basic member is in the crew, the chance of a loot skull chest drop decreases. I think drops are totally random. Membership has nothing to do with it. The search for famed weapons and the sword of El Patron has given birth to a large number of silly rumors.

Use only sword and low level skills.
Do not use voodoo.
Use bladestorm followed by vipers nest.
Use a low level skill to finish the target.
A large crew is best.
Working alone is best.

I find this latest one about basic members influencing drop rates elitist and offensive.

Have you come across an absurd rumor?

StellaInTheSky 05-24-2010 05:16 PM

Wow, I'd not heard most of those! How funny!

I did have someone tell me that you MUST look for ships higher than level 25 for any chance of a skull chest. I wish they'd been in my crew the other day because I got a skull chest from a Corvette while questing. LOL.

seafox 05-24-2010 05:19 PM

whats really nasty is when they announce they are tping off ship because there are 'noobs' present...that behaviour is more noobish I think..

I've heard almost all of your rumors and:

-stay afk on back beach by darkhrt for 24 hrs and then fight
-use daggers only
-Founders get 'special' loot so be sure you crew with one...lol
-only use a crew of four unlimited members
-don't use lost relics/famed ones to get the el patron

and more...but it gives me a headache to think bout it...lols;)

william kid 05-24-2010 05:19 PM

WoW, hadnt heard that one, I'll have to kick those guys out next time (HA HA just playing) that is about the worst one I've heard. I heard that if you move around him while you attack it helps, lol. Yes trying to put sense into random acts.

Midhav 05-24-2010 05:34 PM

I think some of these rumours are based on the belief (or fact) that killing an enemy with high powerful skills or in minimum time, gives you less rep. I'm not sure if it's true, but I do remember once using explosive on a Death Omen to get 79 rep, and then killing it slowly with Round shot which gave me 100 rep. Not sure.

Raikel 05-24-2010 06:15 PM

The famed use alt+F4 is fun to get rid of noobs who friends you and think you will actually be their friend. I friend them, tell them to do that, and then take them off my friends list.

Charles Darkwolf 05-24-2010 06:29 PM

I believe if you go around in a circle 3 times, then slap yourself no more than 2 times, stand on your head, then eat no more than 1 pound of dirt... then you have an excellent shot of getting El Patron!!! :piratetongueor4:

P.S.

If anyone believes that, I have some excellent ocean front property in Nebraska I'd love to sell you! :laughks2:

Wouldn't it be easier and more civil to just push the "No" button?

The most common silly Relic rumor I hear is "The higher the enemy, the higher the loot." Most of my best stuff has come off of mid-level bad guys...Some of those other rumors are pretty funny. AFK for 24 hours. LOL. :laughks2:

Dog Firestack 05-24-2010 09:18 PM

I've heard that you have to get 600 rep from an enem yto get it. This is just FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE. can't believe how people would make all this stuff up. Some dude said you had to kill it with taunt, kill it with ONLY curse and shackles and it was must made up. Do'nt believe them mate, just don't.

Nate Swordwalker 05-24-2010 09:23 PM

Now, if any of you believe that stuff, ah... Well... Nevermind... BUT, this is all absurd. A player is a player no matter what their membership access is. ( get it? :laughks2: )

All this time I thought Darkhart was singing people to sleep, guess I was wrong.:psmiley35:

seafox 05-25-2010 01:27 AM

...rofl....I liked it myself...more loot for me

Crestshot 05-25-2010 02:31 AM

I'm way too tempted to make a whole list of fakes and go around spouting them now....these are hilarious! Honestly, it's like that one "if you say banana really slow it sounds like gullible." ooh, actually, that's a good one. Tell someone to type gullible by filling up the chat box with one letter at a time and your loot chances increase. Huh....

angel 4ever 05-25-2010 07:01 AM

hahaha nice that would so fun to afk next to dark heart and stare at him and be like im going to get u in 23 hours oh ur soo going to get it in 22 hours ahhh i cant take it!!!! - attacks dark heart then gets big loot- oh so its wait 2 hours not 24!! cool hahaha jk :D

Edward Edgemenace 05-25-2010 09:19 AM

My favorite is "kill Darkheart exactly 12 seconds after his spawning invincibility expires."

Oh wait, that's the method I use and my basic pirates have accumulated over a dozen lost relics. Most of those were first-week though.

I'm almost convinced of the "never over-kill him at the end" one.

Oh, and I think I started the one of "lost relics only drop near the top of the hour." Or maybe it was "lost relics only drop near the half-hour." (Both seem to be false, btw.)

Another I'm starting (after getting over 30 rare items today doing this) is that "A high level helping a medium level on a quest, gets drops." E.g. helping someone on a voodoo staff quest, tag-and-bag style.

gingeeann 05-25-2010 02:21 PM

:laughks2:These are hilarious. rofl :cat5:

seafox 05-25-2010 03:29 PM

..lol Edward....I started the one with my friends that they reset em at midnight...but the one about rares....we had a thread already bout more rares coming back...I myself found over twenty yesterday with my third lowest pirate...all by myself...no crews...no friends...nada...they are everywhr right now...

The new rumor I'd put out is bout the potions...."ya knowwww....these potions are for a big war coming...you guys better stockpile em...Dis is going to close the tables soon...." lol

WitchdoctorDan 06-08-2010 08:33 PM

I've heard some (hate to call them this but its true) noobs say that using a rusty cutlass increases your chances of getting a famed weapon. So I attacked Darkheart with some guildies using one. Well, on the third try he FINALLY dropped a skull chest. Inside was 50 gold, ammo and a headband. After about 50 kills I had a rainbow of headbands, ammo, pocket change, and a scattergun. This actually seems to have NEGATIVE effect. (I do like headbands, though!)

ruisen2000 06-09-2010 12:15 AM

the basic thing is definately fake, i am basic and i have been able toget 27 relics already.
i wouldnt say it's random, personally i think iut's a set pattern, since using random with so much ppl playing is too hard.

Not totally random I will agree to that. There are to many variables in the program and game for any player to be able to predict a loot drop outcome, or even influence the conditions in a positive way. The sillly rumors that say you can dance a jig, go afk and then kill Darkhart exactly at 12 AM pacific time and get the Lost Sword prove that.:cat5:

Has anyone experimented with skill point allocations for drops? Unmastered pirates seem to get way more "famed weapons" than pirates that actually might have a use for them. My latest theory is that it is related to skill point allocation (which might explain why people get so many duplicates.)

I will try this.

WitchdoctorDan 06-16-2010 07:21 PM

Finally something D didn't do halfway. I have to admit, when we finally do crack the Loot Drop Code, it will be a serious "Da Vinci Code moment" for me.

My grandpa was once the Admiral of the Navy of Nebraska :piratetongueor4:.

i have no famed weapons but my head officer and test guildmaster both mastered pirates have le patron and other famed weapons...

gingeeann 06-26-2010 01:54 AM

My mastered pirate is played more has more famed loot, probably has to do with game time.

Latest rumor I heard was the longer it takes to defeat an enemy the better the loot... Not true.

I kill fast and in high volume and slower on other ocassions made no difference.

Also I played my 50 in the client and another pirate from another account ( lower levels 38, 20, 12) in a web browser side by side at tormenta, Darkhart, Tim Dartan and General Hex.

There was no pattern in loot drops.

Sometimes fairly equal loot. Sometimes the high level got better stuff, sometimes the low level.

Technically, yes. Anyways...

I got 2 famed swords last night: A Broadsword of The Inquisition and A Corsair's Cutlass. I got the broadsword from a dragoon in El Sudoron and I got the cutlass from darkhart. I think that it doesn't matter what enemy your attacking it matters what it's name and loot container. The type of loot container is decided by it's level, your level, and pure chance.

So let's say we have a Dragoon and an Undead Raider. The chances will be:
Dragoon- Loot Skull Chest- Low chance of a rare weapon, Medium chance of a common weapon, low chance of a crude weapon, Ultra low chance of a Lost Relic/Famed, enhanced chance of a navy related weapon.
Dragoon- Loot Chest- Lower chance of a rare weapon, Medium-Low chance of a common, Medium chance of a crude weapon, Ultra-ultra-low chance of a Lost Relic/Famed, enhanced chance of a navy related weapon.
Dragoon- Loot Pouch- Really low chance of a rare weapon, Low chance of a common, Medium-High chance of a crude weapon, Almost Impossible chance of a Lost Relic/Famed, enhanced chance of a navy related weapon.

Raider- Loot Skull Chest- Low chance of a rare weapon, Medium chance of a common weapon, low chance of a crude weapon, Ultra low chance of a Lost Relic/Famed, enhanced chance of any weapon.
Raider- Loot Chest- Lower chance of a rare weapon, Medium-Low chance of a common, Medium chance of a crude weapon, Ultra-ultra-low chance of a Lost Relic/Famed, enhanced chance of any weapon.
Raider- Loot Pouch- Really low chance of a rare weapon, Low chance of a common, Medium-High chance of a crude weapon, Almost Impossible chance of a Lost Relic/Famed, enhanced chance of any related weapon.

Loot Pouch- worth about 1-150 gold
Loot Chest- worth about 151-350 gold
Loot Skull Chest- worth about 351+ gold

Clothing works the same way as weapons but if there are other things it will be worth less.

Cards are worth from 10-22 gold depending on their card value.

These are mostly assumptions but you get the idea. Everything is based on chance.
